- Miranda Cosgrove is opening up exclusively to ET about why the new 'iCarly' revival continues to honor Carly and Sam's friendship and if Jennette McCurdy has watched the new show. In 2017, McCurdy announced her retirement from acting. Plus, the 28-year-old star dishes about her role as a producer on the new Paramount+ series and how much fun she's having while calling the shots! 'iCarly' airs Thursdays on Paramount+.

In my opinion she's always been funny. I found Carly hilarious in the last seasons (her and Spence)... You never knew when or how she will lose her calm and that unpredictability of her, was fun. Because Freddie was so obnoxious on the last og. season and Sam was ok but her character lost a bit. It was also depressing how they were constantly making fun of Gibby.
But Carly/ Miranda is s good protagonist. I just hope they don't drag the storyline of her finding herself for too long.
Plus in fact I think she's the only character of the ogs. who hasn't lost a bit of soul. She might be a little bit lost but she's still Carly, whereas Spence and Freddie both have things that sometimes make them not seem like themselves anymore.
I hear that Miranda is actually pretty funny in real life too. She’s shy but once she opens up, she’s really entertaining. You should watch the TH-cam video of Miranda when she was on Whitney Cummings podcast. Her personality definitely shines through here.
Carrying the show is a little much she's good like always but it wouldn't be the same without Spencer and Freddie
This revival was a lot better than I anticipated. Miranda is amazing. Selfishly I think everyone who watched the original wants to see Sam but we also have to respect that she hated acting and she made the best decision for herself to do other things

Miranda and Jennette are best friends and if there’s anyone who knows of the trauma Jennette went through, it’s Miranda. Please stop asking her whether Sam will come back because you can tell it’s an awkward and delicate situation.
She died of coronavirus and we missed our Saturday shift because Carly was so depressed about that, along with the end-of-summer blues. I hope Summer Family Camp Week will cheer her up.

Jennette McCurdy can leave her past behind, sometimes though revisiting some things in the past when you’re older and grown as a person can help you see things in a different perspective and it can be therapeutic and liberating. I wish her all the best and great energy from iCarly cast on and off the show.

Y’all will say “she could revisit her past as a way to heal” and “she should look at things from a different perspective” simply because you want her back as Sam for your entertainment. If you cared anything about her, you would have RESPECTED AND ACCEPTED her decision on healing the first time and left it at that. Y’all are so persistent.
Willy G it's just wishful thinking from people. Personally, if even one iota of Dan Schneider's disturbing stories are true, I wouldn't want to act again either. There are fans who really want her to cameo more than anything else, but they can never force her back into that life - no more than you can force people to stop dreaming for it to happen. You need to calm down and just let people wishful think about what could have been - you respect her decision, I respect her decision, everyone respects her decision.
I don’t watch the show other than a few clips I’ve come across, I saw Jennette on a video interview with Graham Stephen where she talked about investing, and also she brought up her past, her current situation, my words are sincere and I do speak from experience with revisiting the past, but regardless I know no matter what I say there’s always those who have already made up their mind on how things work. As I said, I wish her all the best.
Bruh. You don't gotta peer pressure Jennette. She's having some tough mental problems and while she is getting better she has said she doesn't want to act for a while and I feel like if she was ready this show would be the last one on her list.
I love that they mentioned Sam in that way but I do hope they can try to bring her back in someway for this new venture because we all miss her so much :)

I watched it and its amazingg.
The first few episodes are iffy ngl especially the pacing and some of the humor. I think Miranda took creative control after like 3-4 episodes and I find those to be much better
I miss Sam. But I can't say that I don't love Harper. She is so full of energy, and she is the type of person who I would love to be close friends with in real life

Something I would like to see is a cameo of a Victorious character just to see what it would've been like 10 years later. The most realistic character would be Cat since she was close to Sam. But since Ariana is a big star now, I could also see it either being Victoria or Liz. If it were Victoria, the plot could just be her and Carly reuniting and Tori is a big popstar who performs on iCarly, gaining more publicity for the webshow. For Liz I could definitely see the plot with Harper where Harper has a big crush on her and trying to see if Jade is also into women, cause lets be real if it weren't a kids show Jade would be bi.

It would not surprise me if Victoria did a cameo on iCarly as her Tori character has somewhat of a history with Carly. This angle could also serve as a precursor to any Victorious sequel in the works.

I honestly feel she should return. This new iCarly is executive produced by Miranda. They’re all adults now with more creative control in what they do on screen and how their characters are. It could be a healing experience for Janette since this time it’s on her own terms.

The only thing I really miss about iCarly (other than Sam) is how they had their own brand of things such as the pair phone, splashface, build-a-bra, etc. I feel like with them name dropping every brand in the real world it has become disconnected from the original iCarly

It's getting really annoying seeing people say the show's not the same without sam. Of course not. Nothing will stay the same forever. We have to acknowledge the fact that it's completely jeannette's decision wether or not she wants to come back. She obviously doesn't, so let's just respect that. I do wish she would at least cameo but if she doesn't, that's completely fine. As long as she's happy doing what she loves.

I loved Sam as much as any other iCarly fan, but can we PLEASE respect Jeanette's wishes and stop trying to push her into doing a cameo? She's explicitly stated she doesn't want to act anymore, the LEAST you could do is not pressure her into joining. Especially when she's dealt with so much behind the scenes.

@Christian Dixie well...actually...that depends on the person....I have my own Traumas from when I was a kid and as a result of I see bullying in person I have flashbacks to my abuse and Trauma. But if I see it in shows I tend to stay calm.

There are two things needed for a successful reboot unproblematic actors, Miranda and cast are just lovely ppl, and staying true to the original show, they be doing the most with these reboots. Sad Drake and Josh can never be cause it could have worked.
She had a dog named Pearl. Pearl died in 2012 and Miranda now has a new dog named Penny.
This is one of the best new sitcoms. I hope it lasts several years.

I really like Harper's addition to the show! Like many others before the show aired I was upset there was no Sam and didn't like the idea of her being replaced by this new woman.... But they did so well in making it clear that harper isn't Sam's replacement, that Harper is her own character & also that even tho she's not there Sam is still a major entity of the series in a whole! Plus Harper is such the complete opposite of Sam and The new addition of Harper meshes so well with the old cast & new
There is a line that is said in "iCarly" where Carly says for favors, "Please? For me?" In real life, many iCarly fans wished that Miranda would say "Please? For us?" to Jennette.

maybe i'm the only one with this opinion, but i don't think they should cling to the memory of sam in the revival of the show. it should find its own way and completely move on from the past. it's ok to mention her a couple time, but i wouldn't linger on it, nostalgia doesn't help. that said, i will keep watching the show, and best of luck to jennette for her future works as director.
Perhaps it's as hard for them to move on as it is for us. Sam was arguably the most important staple of the show, in my opinion. She held everything together perfectly with her characters brash attitude. She was someone id consider my best friend if she were real
I disagree. She was a huge part of the icarly universe and to act like she doesn’t exist anymore is distasteful. And it keeps the door open for her to make a cameo one day if she feels she’s in a good place.

The main reason why I wanted Carly to return from Italy, was that Carly and Sam will reunite... But when that could happen Jennette McCurdy didn't wanted to join the cast again, so it finally didn't happen. :(
And finally this is the main reason why I didn't watch this revival and why I also think it was better that they finally just cancelled it. Sam can't be replaced. :(

This interview must've hard for Miranda cause she knows Jeanette doesn't want to return but still tries to keep it neutral for the fans as well as in respect for her friend because they know how much the fans want Sam to return but they know she wouldn't but still keep that door open just for that tiniest hope she does decide to show even just for a little bit.
Peer pressuring her join will only justify that the industry is more concerned about getting viewers and less about the mental and emotional well-being of the performers, even as just a cameo. I'm not bashing the reboot or anything, just saying that people aren't the characters they portrayed and should live their lives without being asked to join something to satisfy Our wants and needs. If she watches it, she does it to support her friends and hopefully they still are close after all this time.

It sound like either Miranda and Jennette don't talk anymore, or Miranda is doing everything to protect Jennette. Miranda even sidestepped the question about whether she's talked to Jennette since the reboot started. I hope their friendship survived.
If I recall correctly Miranda said in another interview that her and Jeanette are still close and still talk. I’m assuming she just wants to protect Jeannette by not saying much about her.
