iCarly is the latest 2000s show to get a streaming service reboot, but the new version is missing Sam Puckett, a key character, who was played by Jennette McCurdy, the former best friend of Carly. In reality, Jennete McCurdy herself turned down the chance to appear in the iCarly’s Paramount+ reboot because she quit acting a few years ago. However, in the world of the show, a more bizarre explanation for Sam's absence is given. A day following the premiere of the iCarly reboot’s first three episodes on June 17, the old cast threw shade on Jennette McCurdy's choice to turn down the Reboot while talking about her character Sam. Interestingly, lead actors Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor exclusively talked to ET about the same. They also shared their views on how the reboot will address character sams status.
Dan Schneider, one of the head producers of icarly, supposedly sexually abused Jennette for years. I don’t blame her for wanting nothing to do with the show after that. I feel so bad for her.
Exactly. And its so sad how some people don't understand that when someone in the public eye faces serious trauma, you can't go back to the place you were in before. I'm glad she didn't come back. She deserves better.

They gave Sam's character a good send-off, which shows there shouldn't be any hard feelings. That's an honorable way of handling things, and the fact they tried so hard to get back shows they are good friends. That's good.

We can’t really blame Sam for not being on the show. Besides some characters in reboots don’t really wanna be back on the show. Take the Olsen twins for example. They didn’t wanna be back on the set back when fuller house was airing on Netflix. Can any of you blame any celebrity for not coming back on the reboot of the show??
She definitely will no matter how much time it takes we all love Sam.
But who knows, maybe she changed her mind. But even though that it is very painful to hear this, I will always support Jennette. Atleast she's done what she ever wanted in life and I'm super proud of her. Hoped that someday I see her one woman show in LA.
And her decisions are her decisions you can make them for her she's a great lady it's amazing to have her on the old iCarly it's a gift to have her on the old iCarly 😊

As an adult I don't blame Jennette for disliking and feeling unfulfilled by her roles, I wouldn't want to see all my hard work as just eating pickles and being mean. But I will say as her fan and someone who grew up watching her on tv nothing she did on tv would ever make me look at less, and maybe if se did decide to join the Scarily reboot that she gets the chance to be the actor or "Sam Puckett" that she always wanted to be to. Hopefully the writers of the show would give her the creative freedom to just be herself and transition from this aggressive biker gang ideology to who she was developing from sam and cat. I hope I explained all well but yeah I would love to her on tv with a fresh start and not what her past defined her as.

Um no. I read her book and her mom is a lot like if not just like my mom personality wise. I hated swimming and refuse to ever get in a pool again because of the trauma involved with it. That’s most likely what it is like with Jennette. Only would get involved with it because that’s what defined her for so long. Saying “I’m glad my mom died” is perfectly acceptable.
