- This video shows how I installed aftermarket universal door lock actuators into my 1998 ZJ. The stock actuators are part of the latch assembly and they are expensive to buy and harder to replace than just adding these universal actuators. The front door panels have a pocket area in the arm rest with space for the actuator without interference. The rear doors allow the actuator to be behind the sheet metal.
The actuators I used: ebya.io/3BPC
Similar ones on Amazon: amz.run/4HX3
You can also install them behind that sheet metal. It is actually easier to screw them in place. I replaced the one in the drivers door and works great. Thank you for the video!
And also that way you don't have to bend the new rod so much.
At that price it beats wasting time in the junkyards I need 3 of mine replaced thanks for this video 👍
I found out why mine were all worn out. My body control module is acting up and it activates the door locks at random times. Pretty annoying and it might wear out the new ones too. I didn't want to go the junk yard route because the junk yard parts around here aren't that cheap and they all have 250k miles on them and are probably on the verge of breaking also.
@@alexkram hmmm 🤔 I’m going to check for a parasitic draw from there that might be why I can’t control interior illumination and my battery goes dead after a couple days
@@geejay7118 The BCM reads the door switch wires and it is common for a switch to go bad and the BCM will not "go to sleep" and it will kill the battery with 180ma current draw. I checked the C3 connector that goes to the BCM, where you can check each door switch wire to see it it's grounded (door open condition). In my case all of the door switches are good and the BCM occasionally flashes the interior lights and locks the doors. It even flashed the lights with the C3 connector disconnected so I know it can't be any of the switches. The funny thing is I disconnected the C2 connector to the BCM as well and plugged it back in and now it doesn't flash any more. I am starting to understand why these are $1000 vehicles.
@@alexkram so helpful, thank you! same issue .1 amp draw on the meter, rear locks shot.
Just installed all 4 on my zj. Less than 20 dlls for all at Amazon. They work great.
Holy Mackeral ! This is amazing, thanks! Best video EVER on door locks for the Jeeps.. I already happen to have some of these exact lock motors that I"ve used on another vehicle. Can't believe they FIT BEHIND THE PANEL! Amazing info THANKS! Saved me Ton$$$
Actually works on my zj thanks
Used this for an XJ, was super helpful.
Thanks have ordered myself two 👌
You are THE genius! Thanks so much for sharing!🫡
You are very knowledgeable and skilled but, All four actuators went bad at the same time?
Just super saved me money on my zj thanks
Damn, amazing. This is super simple and straightforward - and easy+cheap to replace if they go bad. Have you done the liftgate lock too?
It Worked! Thanks a bunch!!
Whats the output voltage on your zj? I'm looking to do this on my XJ, but I was only seeing 8v on my actuator harness so I'm curious if that's a my xj issue or a common Jeep output voltage?
Hello i have a question i replaced an old universal door lock actuator in my car that die but the new one seen to work with the cables reverse to the old one and my question is that it doesn't affect that the new one work with the cables reverse it didn't spark but I want a answer if someone know
if you're referring to the cables on the new actuator, the polarity switches one way or the other each time you lock or unlock, so as long as the actuator is functioning it doesn't matter which way the wires are connected
How did you take apart of the actuator
Hi alax I am noreen
I like to how long you heal complete heal patella fracture
I break my patella in January then I have surgery same month how long is take complete heal thank you
