(Long comment warning) In my opinion that’s primarily because in the trailers you see groups of players successfully doing things without the delay of respawning or the slow paced feeling that normal gameplay has so the game looks like it has a fun action packed atmosphere. Where as in actual gameplay the average player is either way too hostile which makes the game stressful or they are too slow or just simply not good enough at the game to make the game enjoyable because you have to constantly wait for them to catch up or you have to stop and help them. Which basically encourages people to play solo so they can actually progress which then makes it harder for newer players because the newer players are then forced to play with the idiots and the toxic players. But basically you can’t have fun in a game where you constantly have to worry about what other players are doing.
Because that’s what ads like trailers are for. Look at food. They put glue in the cereal to replace milk and the McDonald’s burgers look beautiful and not flat and smashed

Sea of thieves is the perfect example is sea of thieves, which is very well balanced. the point of the game is to steal from other players, and so many people play just for the freeroam PVP. and another example is literally every extraction shooter, and games like GTA RP and GMOD RP I think if rockstar looked at the trailers, saw what made the game look fun, and actually balanced around that it would work so much better. Like for example, there's no reason to stop your car and get out to shoot a dude, like someone would in a trailer. since you have 100% accuracy when shooting dudes from your bulletproof car. there's no reason to use an assault rifle or some other weapon in most of PVP, because the Heavy sniper rifle just oneshots everyone, well the snipers need to be nerfed. they need alot of sway, and need to have a longer cooldown between each shot. You see these large groups doing the freeroam events which never happens, well award players way more money to do the freeroam events, problem solved. You see people chasing other players in cars instead of just shooting them, completely nerf the accuracy when you shoot dudes from a car. Also why the hell would you do anything when there's literally a godamn hoverbike in the game that automatically locks to dudes like an aimbot and oneshots them with the homing missile. I say they completely get rid of rocket launchers or make it an extremely limited resource, like you need to go to the gun store to get like 1 or 2 rockets and you can't just spawn rockets out of your ass. Because it makes the fantasy of chasing people in cars very boring, When I play with my friends and PVP, we ban stuff like rockets, snipers etc. to encourage ourselves to use the sandbox to our advantage, like getting in planes and doing the japan ww2 strat lol. Or using cars to make cover for ourselves That type of gameplay style in the trailer is very fun and you are completely wrong. I love these kinds of games so much, as long as they are balanced correctly. Which GTA online IS NOT. And if you want players to be more friendly, there needs to be proximity chat so the players can actually talk to eachother without having to notify the rest of the lobby Im really hoping gta 6 online figures out this balance, but I doubt it. If it does, it will be my absolute favorite PVP game because of the sandbox you can use to mess with people

But as for the sea of thieves thing the idea of basically being forced to interact with people that want to do nothing besides stop people from progressing or earning money is one the most irritating things I can think of and before you probably say oh just join a group or play with friends to make PvP easier. Not everyone has friends that play the same games as them and a lot of players don’t like the idea of joining a completely random group of people that they will potentially not enjoy interacting with. Also most people don’t want to give other players free stuff after they did all the work and btw I have played sea of thieves quite a bit but stopped a few years ago primarily because of other games but it was also because most of the players literally will not leave you alone like at all. Like seriously I remember one incident where I had 2 people literally follow/chase me for over an hour and all they did was blow up my ship once not steal anything and then act like I shouldn’t be aloud to play the game because I was playing solo. Honestly at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what anyone says or does the simple fact is veteran gamers have had to put up with more BS than you can imagine. Ranging from toxic players to dumb decisions made by developers and basically we’re fed up. We do not want to be forced to interact with people that insist on doing literally nothing besides making our life’s more stressful it’s not even about skill because it’s not exactly difficult to kill people in a lot of games or drive a car fast etc etc. it is mostly the simple fact that we do not want to put possibly hours of time and effort into something just to have our efforts benefit the the people we don’t like that think that when you play online you entered an agreement to provide them with entertainment at your expense. Now I’m not saying you’re a bad person or a troll/griefer or anything like that but if you view gameplay like sea of thieves in terms of its PvP stuff as fun and not unfair in anyway then chances are you either never play solo so you don’t understand how annoying it is to be outnumbered when you are simply trying to progress and avoid conflict. Or you only within the last couple of years started playing online games which means you possibly don’t have the experience of dealing with hundreds or even thousands of toxic players that will literally stalk/follow you through multiple lobbies sometimes just so they can make themselves feel like they are better at the game than you. I literally don’t play competitive modes in games anymore because it just feels pointless at times also I’d just like to point out that if you want to do PvP stuff in free roam like gta or red dead or even sea of thieves I’m not saying you can’t I’m just saying it’s kind of a waste of time and effort when PvE content actually rewards you for your time and effort. Back when GTAO was released, we would absolutely hang out in the apartments and what not. Looking out of the telescope and such because it was so hard to get money back then, it was a new experience and buying anything over 130k was crazy. Good times
Last weekend my girlfriend slept here. We got bored so we decided to watch youtube on the TV but we couldn't figure out what to watch. That's when I was like, hey, there's this guy called DarkViperAU who streams GTA V and stuff, he got this fun series called GTA Chaos Mod would you like to try it? She was like yeah, why not so I randomly went on one of your vids. I managed to pass out during the video and woke up several hours later to her watching your third video in a row. She said she really enjoyed it and she just sent me a pic a few minutes ago that she was watching your vids rn and knowing that she likes a content creator I showed her this much made me weirdly happy

See people were respectful in GTA 4 online and when you had beef youd go to the airport and then if someone was griefing then you voted to kick repeatedly until the rest of the lobby either kicked you or them.
"without worrying about being blown up" you forgot the "while they don't have any money on their account so we have to pay getting the car back ourselves", I don't like at all what GTA:O has become - but I can't deny it's a way easier time if you make millions and a car repair is 5.000+$ compared to making like 25.000$ and having all your cars been blown up in a quarter of the time it took you to get that money which is now gone again and will be gone for the next hours.
Xbox 360 and PS3 was for sure the time where all players lived in the moment without caring about a high K/D, same for the few months before the servers where shut down

(Long comment warning) I don’t think a lot of people realise how little content we had back then compared to now and the fact that prices actually made sense and were reasonable. Also it’s really annoying to me that when I tell people that gta 4s multiplayer didn’t have money or personal vehicles or property or any of that stuff and it literally was just bare bones free roam with weapon pick ups and basic game modes like team deathmatch and racing. They act like we lived in the Stone Age or something because they can’t comprehend that we didn’t need hundreds of Gigabytes of content to have fun with a game. But then you have the hostile players that go out of their way to try to stop people from enjoying all the content that there is in gta online now by doing nothing but killing random people in free roam for no reason and then trying to argue that that the whole reason the game exists is to kill random players and nothing else.
I played GTA 5 and online first and went back and played GTA 4 multiplayer and it was so much fun ( just me and 1 friend) also maybe some nostalgia from watching siblings play it
You missed few trailers like "The Cayo Perico Heist: Coming December 15 to GTA Online" which released before the main trailer and showed more of the island, so the thing you criticized the 2nd trailer for not having
My favorite content in gta online was when the community made their own jobs like insurgents vs RPGs, the modded parkours and deathmatches made in accessible locations.
This is such a nostalgia trip. Rockstar know how to make really good trailers. I still remember how hyped I was for Smuggler's Run, since I like aviation, and The Doomsday Heist. The original GTA Online trailer was very exciting to see all those years ago.
I'll be honest, my favourite part of the Arena War update was getting to have more colour options for my car's headlights than just the default and Xenon of course, then the LS Tuners update came out and they let use you those headlight colours in the LS car meet customisation area making the Arena War garage even more useless
10:56 yeah no the musket has some of the highest bullet velocity in the game. for some reason meanwhile the railgun WHICH LAUNCHES PROJECTILES WITH MAGNETS has some of the slowest bullet velocity not counting the rocket and grenade launchers. i think

40:44 man; I haven't played deadline in forever. That used to be my shit. Hop on and dominate lobbies, or more likely just my friends. Shotaro absolutely remains my favourite bike in the game purely because deadline was so fun. Should try and get back into it if people still play

Diamond casino & resort trailer is easily the best one. I mean, the music is not just fitting because of the theme, but look at the timing of the tanker explosions. I can imagine how much fun the editor had with that one.

I remember the late 2014, early 2015 era of GTAO very well. There honestly wasn't a whole lot to do in the game and you sort of needed to play with some people or be creative. When the original heists dropped it was the most insane shit ever, right when school got out in 2015, I luckily made friends with a group of three, so the last addition made it perfect to play the new heists. Holy crap was that fun, playing them the first time just blew my mind away. Then we would find tricks to finish them faster, like doubling up on the bikes and going under the parking garage to fly to the cavern on the Finale. I remember when we all found out that the 360 would no longer be getting updates, and that school would be starting back up, the writing was on the wall. I moved on to the Xbox One and PC version of the game but nothing has ever come close to the hype of the OG Heists era. Modern day GTAO (especially on PC) is just an overwhelming mess it's not even fun anymore.
I remember thinking the lowrider update with benny's original motorworks was one of the best updates ever when it came out all i did was spend everything i had on making lowriders etc.
The apartment hangouts are something I still do, it’s great to chill out and just chat within the apartment I can’t explain it but there’s somethings fun about going to the apartment and just chatting with my friends
Actually with most updates until ps3 and 360 were dropped, new content likes guns and vehicles were also added to singleplayer. With later releases, a lot of the dlc cars were also added to npc traffic. In countries with gambling banned, it's still the Diamond resort with an interior, but approaching any of the games, the prompt to press a button to play is replaced with one about the activitiy not being available in your region.
I saw the first trailer as a TH-cam ad. Like a decade ago. And then got hooked. Only owned the game 4 years later and spend 400 hours. The contract might have been the best update. I loved the story, the music and even the content. Maybe the After Hours uodate too? The music selection is really great as always. Rockstar has brough so much music to my live I still listen to today (and even bought part of).
I first played GTA Online in 2014 and i still remember what i did, i tried to find my way to the airport but instead i ended up getting stopped by a guy in a blue under glow Humvee and me and him both rode to his garage full of white vehicles. But, I made my own GTA Online profile in 2019, way after everything had already concluded.
The cars you are talking about near 5:00 they were in the game but idk in rockstar mind they removed 200 cars but thankfully I was able to get some rare cars before they were removed
200K back in the day was a lot. Before heits released, the fastest way to get money was to grind actual missions and you'd get like 60-80k an hour if you just constantly grind the most profitable missions in the most profitable way. Getting to 1m was such a grind. 1M was also the most expensive item in the game
The Contract brought the ONE and ONLY Eminem on radio with 2 songs also brought 50 Cent in Da Club song Family Afair from Mary Jay ! HOW DARE YOU putting it on less than A tier ?! This DLC was focused on the Doc and the music that's the whole point of it. The 3 missions after with Lamar and Franklin were their own thing almost random. No showing in the trailer like walking as Franklin or Lamar even for a frame that would give away that we play as them.
The first trailer, if you were there during the first 2 months of the game, thats literally all we did! I remember when we all had pistols and were racing eachother to get stickies and the lime green paint job. The first money farm was a race around a prison that paid 20,000~ ish. Which was A TON back in 2013. The adder being a million was the goal and there not even being heists was. Idk it was a time and i miss it 🥺 i still have my first vehicle the gauntlet from 2013 😢 Then the dns server were a thing and everyone got millions of dollars, we boight everything and if you were smart filled your garage will adders and sold em for tons. Which is why you couldn't sell cars of a certain value. Then there was an update where you couldn't sell a vehicle if it was stolen from the street passed a certain value you, meant to garage lock adder abusers. I have 1 vehicle i cant sell at all lol Heists were fun but not what we thought it was supposed to be, fun but we thought cayo and not just reskined story heists. (Prison bus can crash and burn)
I understand this is a trailer tier list, but there were some updates/dlcs missing, like the very first update: the Beach Bum, the Business update, the high life, the Im not a hipster, Ill gotten gains part 1 and 2, but all in all, it was a good video
The Doomsday Heist trailer is my favorite out of all the trailers I would say. The music and voice overs really amp it up and give a "high stakes" feel. The new content also acts as a way to support the idea that this is basically new ground (like fate of the world type stuff) or at least that it should have been. I wasnt around to experience GTA Online during this time, but I definitely can say that the hype was there when this trailer dropped.
The Cunning Stunts trailer is by far my favorite. The vibes are off the charts, and it was one of the best updates for the racing community. But i think it was also the tipping point for GTA Online, or the point where Rockstar really jumped the shark in terms of believability. We got so much fantasy stuff after that (alien bullshit, flying cars/bikes, rage lasers, etc).
Okay from what i can see theres not really "less" content in the updates as much as them forcing it behind dripfeed and turning 1 update into multiple, like with chop shop, the cluck n bell raid was part of the chopshop update but they didnt activate it untill later
I've played GTA Online in its beginnings in 2014 on PS3, skipped a whole generation and decided to go back at it on the PS5. It's definitely a different game compared to the beginning, I remember I used to do a lot more races and deathmatches at that time, while now I'm just going through the business in freeroam and such. At that time I only played in public lobbies, but now I only play in private ones because I got tired of being at a constant edge if a Oppressor MK II was coming at my way.
With regard to what chatto said about Benny's upgrades only being possible at his custom shop, I am 97% sure that if you buy specific mechanics in the CEO office garage customisation shop and in the Arena Workshop, then you can do Benny mods on the cars, but this is just me being a lil neek.
Having an option to play GTA Online somewhere around its release back in 2013/2014 on PS3 and never watching the trailers (different language, didn't know English much), seeing these trailers now I'm getting nostalgic over the fact of how many things I remember. I didn't play old "new-gen" (PS4/XBOX 1/PC) until after like 2021 and even then I knew a lot of content from TH-cam videos. It was sad that PS3/XBOX360 stopped getting updates after like 1-2 years after Online's release felt bad, but then again nobody knew how long they will be updating the game. For me, each of these trailers contains a bit of fun facts and background of mine experience with this stuff, mostly because each update was bigger and bigger until the point I stopped caring about GTA V as a game, since I couldn't play it. Then it went kinda downhill, just like the status of the game, updates, y'know. Overall, great joy, R* trailer creators can really oversell their stuff.
It's strange to really have to grapple with the idea that everything will be gone someday. Every game I play will have their final session. Usually that's a really sad feeling. I don't think I would care if Online's servers were shut down tomorrow. I can't pinpoint which trailer I would say "changed everything" (I wasn't even playing until like 2018), but it probably happened before I had an opportunity to enjoy what many veteran players see as the good times. Obviously there have been moments, but moments that have been hours in the making or one in a million; moments that can be far more common and far more rewarding in games that have been made better because they chose not to change so much. I try to do things in GTA Online and just have too much information, calls, notifications, useless possibilities thrown at me to start on anything. I try to make money and get griefed by people who have sold their soul for a MKII. I wouldn't even buy GTA VI if it weren't for the fact I bet my sister it would never come out, and if it did I would pay for it instead of us splitting the cost. I don't want to give Rockstar another dollar, and I do not want to give Online another moment of my time.

Benny's was the expansion that taught us Rockstar wasn't going to be supporting single player anymore. They had put in every GTA Online vehicle and weapon at that point and many people expected Benny's to show up in SP. When it didn't, I stopped playing GTA Online for quite a while.
If we ever got the opportunity my friends and I would always meme around doing weird stunts and random things. One time we took one of the giant dump trucks up a mountain had a bunch of people get in the back and fist fight while driving down the mountain
I think the issue with these trailers is that none of them add anything to do in the open world. No interesting random quests or solo events, it's just load into a queue and wait simulator.

I still remember us loving the heists and missions but generally.. you know.. wanted to do more freeroam bs in both singleplayer and online - needless to say we never got any of that, nothing along the lines of at least being able to rob the banks you can access either way in freeroam with friends, actual turf war style content etc.

Now I’m not saying you’re a bad person or a troll/griefer or anything like that but if you view gameplay like sea of thieves in terms of its PvP stuff as fun and not unfair in anyway then chances are you either never play solo so you don’t understand how annoying it is to be outnumbered when you are simply trying to progress and avoid conflict. Or you only within the last couple of years started playing online games which means you possibly don’t have the experience of dealing with hundreds or even thousands of toxic players that will literally stalk/follow you through multiple lobbies sometimes just so they can make themselves feel like they are better at the game than you.
I literally don’t play competitive modes in games anymore because it just feels pointless at times also I’d just like to point out that if you want to do PvP stuff in free roam like gta or red dead or even sea of thieves I’m not saying you can’t I’m just saying it’s kind of a waste of time and effort when PvE content actually rewards you for your time and effort. It’s also a waste of money because ammo costs money and in gta online for example the amount of money you spend just simply sitting around doing nothing because of utilitie costs or accidentally destroying a players overpriced vehicle or using lots of ammo in pointless PvP. You basically have no choice but to ether go broke or play PvE stuff like heists and not even public PvE content is great at times because you sometimes have to put up with players that can’t even figure out how to do the most basic gameplay mechanics.
Also I swear if you say oh just buy sharks cards/buyable currency then I’m convinced you are part of the problem so please for the love of god don’t tell you think pay to win is acceptable in non free to play games.
If you got this far I’m actually surprised you read the whole thing because this entire reply was mostly a ramble 😂 but I think I should point out that your reply is talking about PvP I was talking about primarily co op PvE content like what you see in the trailers because the trailers primarily show scripted PvE content not PvP content.
Also you mentioned stuff like proximity chat and stuff like that red dead online has most of the features that you were talking about.
Back when GTAO was released, we would absolutely hang out in the apartments and what not. Looking out of the telescope and such because it was so hard to get money back then, it was a new experience and buying anything over 130k was crazy. Good times

you forgot the "while they don't have any money on their account so we have to pay getting the car back ourselves", I don't like at all what GTA:O has become - but I can't deny it's a way easier time if you make millions and a car repair is 5.000+$ compared to making like 25.000$ and having all your cars been blown up in a quarter of the time it took you to get that money which is now gone again and will be gone for the next hours.
Xbox 360 and PS3 was for sure the time where all players lived in the moment without caring about a high K/D, same for the few months before the servers where shut down

I don’t think a lot of people realise how little content we had back then compared to now and the fact that prices actually made sense and were reasonable.
Also it’s really annoying to me that when I tell people that gta 4s multiplayer didn’t have money or personal vehicles or property or any of that stuff and it literally was just bare bones free roam with weapon pick ups and basic game modes like team deathmatch and racing.
They act like we lived in the Stone Age or something because they can’t comprehend that we didn’t need hundreds of Gigabytes of content to have fun with a game.
But then you have the hostile players that go out of their way to try to stop people from enjoying all the content that there is in gta online now by doing nothing but killing random people in free roam for no reason and then trying to argue that that the whole reason the game exists is to kill random players and nothing else.
I played GTA 5 and online first and went back and played GTA 4 multiplayer and it was so much fun ( just me and 1 friend) also maybe some nostalgia from watching siblings play it
You missed few trailers like "The Cayo Perico Heist: Coming December 15 to GTA Online" which released before the main trailer and showed more of the island, so the thing you criticized the 2nd trailer for not having
To be fair, that was more of a teaser rather than a trailer. Rockstar really loves their teasers.
My favorite content in gta online was when the community made their own jobs like insurgents vs RPGs, the modded parkours and deathmatches made in accessible locations.
Rockets vs insurgents was goated when that was the best way to make money so you would always get a full lobby

I remember the late 2014, early 2015 era of GTAO very well. There honestly wasn't a whole lot to do in the game and you sort of needed to play with some people or be creative. When the original heists dropped it was the most insane shit ever, right when school got out in 2015, I luckily made friends with a group of three, so the last addition made it perfect to play the new heists. Holy crap was that fun, playing them the first time just blew my mind away. Then we would find tricks to finish them faster, like doubling up on the bikes and going under the parking garage to fly to the cavern on the Finale. I remember when we all found out that the 360 would no longer be getting updates, and that school would be starting back up, the writing was on the wall. I moved on to the Xbox One and PC version of the game but nothing has ever come close to the hype of the OG Heists era. Modern day GTAO (especially on PC) is just an overwhelming mess it's not even fun anymore.
I remember thinking the lowrider update with benny's original motorworks was one of the best updates ever when it came out all i did was spend everything i had on making lowriders etc.
The apartment hangouts are something I still do, it’s great to chill out and just chat within the apartment I can’t explain it but there’s somethings fun about going to the apartment and just chatting with my friends

Actually with most updates until ps3 and 360 were dropped, new content likes guns and vehicles were also added to singleplayer. With later releases, a lot of the dlc cars were also added to npc traffic.
In countries with gambling banned, it's still the Diamond resort with an interior, but approaching any of the games, the prompt to press a button to play is replaced with one about the activitiy not being available in your region.

I saw the first trailer as a TH-cam ad. Like a decade ago. And then got hooked. Only owned the game 4 years later and spend 400 hours.
The contract might have been the best update. I loved the story, the music and even the content.
Maybe the After Hours uodate too? The music selection is really great as always. Rockstar has brough so much music to my live I still listen to today (and even bought part of).
I first played GTA Online in 2014 and i still remember what i did, i tried to find my way to the airport but instead i ended up getting stopped by a guy in a blue under glow Humvee and me and him both rode to his garage full of white vehicles. But, I made my own GTA Online profile in 2019, way after everything had already concluded.
The cars you are talking about near 5:00 they were in the game but idk in rockstar mind they removed 200 cars but thankfully I was able to get some rare cars before they were removed
200K back in the day was a lot. Before heits released, the fastest way to get money was to grind actual missions and you'd get like 60-80k an hour if you just constantly grind the most profitable missions in the most profitable way. Getting to 1m was such a grind. 1M was also the most expensive item in the game
The Contract brought the ONE and ONLY Eminem on radio with 2 songs also brought 50 Cent in Da Club song Family Afair from Mary Jay ! HOW DARE YOU putting it on less than A tier ?! This DLC was focused on the Doc and the music that's the whole point of it. The 3 missions after with Lamar and Franklin were their own thing almost random. No showing in the trailer like walking as Franklin or Lamar even for a frame that would give away that we play as them.

The first trailer, if you were there during the first 2 months of the game, thats literally all we did! I remember when we all had pistols and were racing eachother to get stickies and the lime green paint job.
The first money farm was a race around a prison that paid 20,000~ ish. Which was A TON back in 2013. The adder being a million was the goal and there not even being heists was. Idk it was a time and i miss it 🥺 i still have my first vehicle the gauntlet from 2013 😢
Then the dns server were a thing and everyone got millions of dollars, we boight everything and if you were smart filled your garage will adders and sold em for tons. Which is why you couldn't sell cars of a certain value. Then there was an update where you couldn't sell a vehicle if it was stolen from the street passed a certain value you, meant to garage lock adder abusers. I have 1 vehicle i cant sell at all lol
Heists were fun but not what we thought it was supposed to be, fun but we thought cayo and not just reskined story heists. (Prison bus can crash and burn)

The Doomsday Heist trailer is my favorite out of all the trailers I would say. The music and voice overs really amp it up and give a "high stakes" feel. The new content also acts as a way to support the idea that this is basically new ground (like fate of the world type stuff) or at least that it should have been. I wasnt around to experience GTA Online during this time, but I definitely can say that the hype was there when this trailer dropped.
The Cunning Stunts trailer is by far my favorite. The vibes are off the charts, and it was one of the best updates for the racing community. But i think it was also the tipping point for GTA Online, or the point where Rockstar really jumped the shark in terms of believability. We got so much fantasy stuff after that (alien bullshit, flying cars/bikes, rage lasers, etc).
Okay from what i can see theres not really "less" content in the updates as much as them forcing it behind dripfeed and turning 1 update into multiple, like with chop shop, the cluck n bell raid was part of the chopshop update but they didnt activate it untill later

I've played GTA Online in its beginnings in 2014 on PS3, skipped a whole generation and decided to go back at it on the PS5. It's definitely a different game compared to the beginning, I remember I used to do a lot more races and deathmatches at that time, while now I'm just going through the business in freeroam and such. At that time I only played in public lobbies, but now I only play in private ones because I got tired of being at a constant edge if a Oppressor MK II was coming at my way.

Having an option to play GTA Online somewhere around its release back in 2013/2014 on PS3 and never watching the trailers (different language, didn't know English much), seeing these trailers now I'm getting nostalgic over the fact of how many things I remember. I didn't play old "new-gen" (PS4/XBOX 1/PC) until after like 2021 and even then I knew a lot of content from TH-cam videos. It was sad that PS3/XBOX360 stopped getting updates after like 1-2 years after Online's release felt bad, but then again nobody knew how long they will be updating the game.
For me, each of these trailers contains a bit of fun facts and background of mine experience with this stuff, mostly because each update was bigger and bigger until the point I stopped caring about GTA V as a game, since I couldn't play it. Then it went kinda downhill, just like the status of the game, updates, y'know.

It's strange to really have to grapple with the idea that everything will be gone someday. Every game I play will have their final session. Usually that's a really sad feeling.
I don't think I would care if Online's servers were shut down tomorrow. I can't pinpoint which trailer I would say "changed everything" (I wasn't even playing until like 2018), but it probably happened before I had an opportunity to enjoy what many veteran players see as the good times. Obviously there have been moments, but moments that have been hours in the making or one in a million; moments that can be far more common and far more rewarding in games that have been made better because they chose not to change so much. I try to do things in GTA Online and just have too much information, calls, notifications, useless possibilities thrown at me to start on anything. I try to make money and get griefed by people who have sold their soul for a MKII. I wouldn't even buy GTA VI if it weren't for the fact I bet my sister it would never come out, and if it did I would pay for it instead of us splitting the cost. I don't want to give Rockstar another dollar, and I do not want to give Online another moment of my time.

Benny's was the expansion that taught us Rockstar wasn't going to be supporting single player anymore. They had put in every GTA Online vehicle and weapon at that point and many people expected Benny's to show up in SP. When it didn't, I stopped playing GTA Online for quite a while.
If we ever got the opportunity my friends and I would always meme around doing weird stunts and random things.
One time we took one of the giant dump trucks up a mountain had a bunch of people get in the back and fist fight while driving down the mountain

The thing with Rockstar's death matches is you rarely find one with players, you'll always find crappy player made ones instead.
I think the issue with these trailers is that none of them add anything to do in the open world. No interesting random quests or solo events, it's just load into a queue and wait simulator.
I know random events exist, they are server wide though and I mean things like opportunities to steal cars and weird side stories to play through.
