    Thanks for the video and its a good reference one. Although you dont need to remove the wh ole bumper to do it. Just remove the top clipped cover and remove all the 10mm bolts holding the top grill on. Then gently pull on the grill until you can get the headlight out.

    Great informational vid. I am in no way a mechanic but this and a couple of others saved me about $300+. Thank you!

    And, always remember to test the headlights function again before installing it back in...

    I replaced the top lights and didn’t remove half that shit. Only the clips and plastic cover. 2 bolts on each side.

    Whomever the engineer was on the Escalade needs to be fired. You should never have to take apart half the car to change a headlight.

      100% Agree! It can be done w/o having to completely remove the bumper but on my 2011 DTS it's a must! I even did it with the front wheels turned inward on both sides and its stupid AsF for no apparent reason. I have a 03' Escalade EXT (GMT800) and all I had to do was pull the 2 rods loose and out goes the light assembly in 30 seconds. I just bought a 14' ESV Premium (GMT900) and converting every single light to LED, except for the headlights which i'm leaving stock for now. Gotta remove a lot more, not worth a dealer trip but still too much for a damn headlight. Same with my mom's 08' Lancer. Modern cars are seriously over complicated.

      I thought it was bad on my '08 DTS. The service writer at the dealership said that DTS stood for the "Design Team of Satan" when I brought the vehicle in under warranty for an unlit headlight some years ago. To the dealership's credit, they authorized the replacement of both bulbs and ballasts. The service manager told me, "You're not going to have trouble with your headlights ever again." He was right. I kept the DTS four more years before trading it in never having an issue with the headlights nor anything else for that matter. It was about as trouble-free a vehicle as I have ever owned plus with the smooth application of that Northstar power it went like the wind.

    What are symptoms of bad ballast? Both L and R out?

    • @slow_restoration
      @slow_restoration  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be ballast or bulbs, best to have them on hand just in case. Also check for blown fuses.

    • @blessedfamily3696
      @blessedfamily3696 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@slow_restoration so there's a separate fuse for left side headlight bright and dim? That's why I was wondering if maybe if it was the ballister because bright and dim are out on driver side

      @@blessedfamily3696 did you ever find out what it was. I have the same problem as well

    • @blessedfamily3696
      @blessedfamily3696 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alex Ramirez 1 ballast per side. Screws onto bottom of light fixture w/ 4 screws. If you have 12 volts going into it( yellow wire prong +pos.) and nothing coming out it’s the ballast. Check out wattage with the three wire(blue yellow red) which = (high low and neutral) that plug 🔌 into main bulb. If power there then it’s your bulb. 💡 Good Luck

      How much you end up paying I’m just starting the job now, myself I’d never pay a dealer for this, but I’m sure there’s jobs people would say the same and I’d take to a dealer, really curious about the price.
