the colour levels in this video physically hurt me to look at I am so sorry. I am still working on having a camera and needing skills in order to operate it.
"Lion" was the song that made me Neverland... "Hwaa" is, however, the song I keep coming back to. It's so beautiful, it makes me want to cry, every damn time.
K/DA made me a fan of Soyeon and Miyeon, which made me look up their group. After that I became a Stan for I-Dle. Now I am unofficial Neverland. Other groups may have more intricate dances or more mainstream music, but (G)I-Dle stands alone as innovative, daring, and experimental.
(G)I-DLE have never not had a song not doing well in Korea they were always loved for their unique sounds from day 1, but HWAA was really the song that at the time showed that (G)I-DLE are really REALLY loved by the Korean public, it was the group's first song to chart #1 on Melon real-time along with other charts platform which has never been done before by any 4th gen group at that time, they were blowing up and doing so well during HWAA and it's still their most awarded song on music shows till today (NXDE is on the way of stealing the throne) but un/fortunately it brought all good and bad attention from people wanting to ruin them which lead to the whole Soojin and (G)I-DLE 1 year and 2 months break. But I'm thankful that the group held through all of this and came back even tho they were not sure if the gp would listen to them again and even thought of disbanding if tomboy didn't do well, but look at them now I'm so proud of them
Thank you for your feelings about Soojin, yes, most of us miss our Soojin like crazy. We love when others talk about her and a lot of us still consider Soojin a member even if she's officially a former member. She means the world to us even now. Not sure if you listened to the entire I Never Die album, there are tons of references to Soojin in those songs. Obviously the girls still dearly love her. Oh, and "I don't know if there's anyone who wants to watch them?" Yes, Neverland is one of the most passionate fandoms. You put anything (G)I-DLE out there, we're definitely going to watch them! And thank you so much for your reactions!!!
In Queendom, you might remember that IDLE was in 1st place after the first performance. That was the "Latata" remake that they did. Great performance. Also, their Queendom-"Put it Straight nightmare version" that they performed on Queendom was amazing. That round had Korean housewives judging and the housewives likely thought the girls were just insane.
I am sure you know some of these things, but... essay. :P On Soojin: Some part of the fandom misses her dearly, and considers what has been done to her a gross injustice. Even shy and introverted as she was, she was a huge presence in the group, both as an artist and as a person. She has put up a solid defense, but most people don't investigate, and are only too happy to cancel someone on a whisper of a scandal. Some part of the fandom is happy she is gone. I cannot tell which part is bigger, but I believe and hope it is the former. Me personally, I'm kind of heartbroken every time I think of her, and thus sometimes avoid it for that reason alone. On Oh My God: First of all, "Ab imo pectore" is a Latin phrase that translates directly to "From the bottom of the heart", but as in English, meaning "with deepest affection". As far as I can tell, the MV works on two levels. On one level it is deeply symbolic story of innocence, temptation and fall into depravity. Soojin has been confirmed to be a seductress demon, and the other girls her victims. She is bound by the purple straps, then gets free. Some resist her charm and remain pure, some fight her off but are tarnished in the struggle, some fall for her and fall hard. There's all this Christian imagery, the white of heaven and red of hell, the crosses, the apple, the Latin, the wine/blood, everything in the video works to support this storyline. On another level, it seems to be a social commentary. The name of the album this song is on is I Trust, and Soyeon has said that it is about staying true to oneself, even under adversity. While the girls have never said so directly outside the lyrics, it seems to paint a picture of lesbian love, particularly in a restrictive, conservative society (such as South Korea). The chorus, in English, uses "she", and even in Korean parts (specifically Soyeon's rap verse) the female pronoun is used (which is not really used in natural Korean, except when you want to be absolutely clear on the gender, like in translations). The song also has an English version, which is much more explicit (though it wasn't written by Soyeon, but by the translator, so one can have doubts about how closely it follows her intention). The height of this storyline is in Soyeon's verse, I feel. People sometimes think that she is in a toxic relationship, and that she is trying to get away in order not to get hurt by the other person. I interpret it differently: what she is afraid of is the pressure of the society to conform. Her cry is basically "why could I not have fallen in love with someone I will not be judged over?" She tries to deny her feelings, but in the end accepts that this is who she is, this is what she feels, and she should trust herself over whatever anyone else thinks. Even if she ends up suffering, love is worth it. While it does appear it is about homosexuality, I believe it is actually about any kind of situation where societal pressure makes one deny one’s true self. And if it was actually about homosexuality (or, equally, feminism), they could not admit that outright - Korean industry has blacklisted artists for such things. Soyeon herself said, in an MTV interview, "I didn't want to limit that 'she' to a certain being or a certain definition. So it's open to anything. I believe that all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected. That's why I don't want to limit 'she' to something specific.” There was a bit more to it, look up “Rising Stars (G)I-DLE Are Defining Their Own Genre” on MTV, if interested. To address the song similarity to Lion: "Oh my god!" melody is exactly parallel to Lion's "Ba, ba, ba", though slower. And Shuhua's part, apart for the ending bar, is the same, too. However, I see it as an intentional choice, and does not distract from either song's quality. I also think that the title is just trolling Nevies. Because almost everyone ends up saying "Oh my god!" when they see it. And then they'll laugh self-consciously. Just how transparent are we, to Soyeon? :) Both this and Lion are film-making masterpieces, really: pure art. Still, my number one is Put It Straight (Nightmare version) performance on Queendom. I don't know if you've seen it (or remember it, if you have), but it's the best stage of anything I have ever seen so far, ever. It is a rearrangement of a sad ballad B-side, but it changed drastically, to include madness and rage; if you should ever check it out, I strongly suggest watching a lyrics video of the original song (not Nightmare version) beforehand - it will make you appreciate Soyeon’s genius that much more. Also, talk about acting... On Hwaa: This is a trilogy that started with Hann in 2018, continues with another song ALSO called Hann that is on the same album as Hwaa (I Burn; though this newer Hann sadly does not have an MV), and flows into Hwaa. The thing you need to know about is what "han" is first. From Wikipedia: "Han is frequently translated as sorrow, spite, rancor, regret, resentment or grief, among many other attempts to explain a concept that has no English equivalent." But the same pronunciation also has other meanings as well. The 2018 Hann is originally named 한(一), where the Chinese character in parentheses gives the intended alternate meaning: "one". The song sings about getting over an ex who hurt you: "I erase your trace in my bruised heart", and the MV styling is a desert. This is why the English translation is "Hann (Alone)". The second Hann, on this album, is titled 한(寒); here, the Chinese character says "cold" (with the English translation "Hann (Alone in Winter)". The lyrics there are about feeling as if your heart is frozen, realising that you were lying to yourself about erasing the ex from the memory, knowing that you still think of them every single day, and you wonder if the winter in your heart will ever turn to spring. Here's where Hwaa comes in, with its multiple meanings, again explicitly stated in Chinese characters: 화(火花). Both characters are pronounced "hwa" in Korean. The first means "fire", but is also used metaphorically for "anger" ("I am angry" is literally translated as "fire is coming out"). The second is "flower". The combination of the two characters ("fire flower") means "spark" in Chinese and Japanese (pronounced "huǒhuā" and "hibana", respectively), though it is not used in Korean (but if you replace the Chinese characters with native korean words, you get 불꽃 "bulkkot", a word for "fireworks", which was Soyeon's hope for this song's impact - this meaning is present in Japanese and Chinese as well, but the characters are reversed: 花火 "hanabi" and "huāhuǒ"). The song uses all of these meanings: wanting to spark up the fires of anger to burn up the leftover resentment ("han"), and warm up the heart so flowers of new love can blossom again. Super cool, super deep, in the way how all the wordplay about "han" and "hwa" was used. And it's not the end either: Soyeon and Minnie said that Moon was postponed to be on this album, because it matches the mood, as you look at the sky and... feel. The rest of the songs are also meaningful in their own place in the album. In Miyeon's words, "We tried to express this album as cold winter, hot fire and beautiful but stinging flowers. It also has the meaning of overcoming the scars of separation and being in full bloom again.” Hwaa was also translated into English (and Chinese). Soyeon said they paid special attention with the British songwriter Phildel to make sure the English version captures the exact same feelings like the original. One of the very few English translations in Kpop I wholeheartedly recommend.
Thank you, let's also add that the school officially stated Soojin was found innocent of bullying anyone, and the school also stated that Soojin was also a victim of bullying.
the sudden end of hwaa symbolizes how they went all out and made the brightest fire, which also burns fast. its shortliving but bright, with no regrets
Oh btw, love when someone not deep in the fandom acknowledges stuff like the six balloons, makes me feel a little bit less delusional haha, thanks for reacting
the reason why oh my god and lion have similarity is because oh my god is the bside of "i-trust" album where oh my god is the tt. and the reason why idle music ends abruptly is because soyeon loves those types😅she love abrupts ending since it leaves more impact and for the listener for wanting to listen to it again😁 oh my god actually have many theories: 1. self-love(since the album called i-trust and the 'she' their talkin about is themselves) 2. bible reference about adam, eve and lilith 3. demon and angel 4. same sex relationship and many more
soyeon when asked abt the use of the 'she' pronoun "we respect all loves" Oh My God is a song that can be interpreted in many ways and she purposely leaves it open for it. for sapphics (or just queer folk in general) it's a song that can really encapsulate religious trauma, internal struggles with not being straight etc but not caring. the song can also be interpreted as a journey to self-actualization as well, just simply learning to be who you are regardless of what society says. something i also love is that all the lyrics in Lion genuinely came true. gidle really are breaking prejudices, people really are becoming addicted to their melodies, and they are doing the 'lion's dance.' i'm so proud of how far they came despite the hardships. i always miss soojin dearly but i hope she is living a happy life and if she ever feels ready, she knows she still has ppl who support her dreams. also, idk if anyone recommended this to you yet, but there's a phenomenal fan-made documentary called 'the rise of (g)i-dle' which takes you through the careers of the girls from predebut to hwaa era (so there's no mention of soojin's scandal or the aftermath of (5)i-dle). it's clearly a passion project and a labor of love, but truly one of the most comprehensive sources of explaining how gidle came to be.
tbh im not a fan of many idle guides? at least not the ones I've seen. You could still enjoy them of course, but I think watching variety and interviews is a much better way to get to know them so they can speak for themselves. They have such a fun and close-knit dynamic, they are like sisters to each other and it is so awesome to see after all they have been through. very excited to follow your journey!
If you think the OMG Korean lyrics are gay then you should listen to the English version (you don’t have to react to it I’m just saying lol) they went IN with those lyrics💀 and for guides maybe “An unhelpful guide to (G)I-dle 2021” by Adriana Sandoval or “a pabo’s guide to (G)I-dle” by miyeonism but I feel like they don’t show their true personalities in those type of videos, so maybe variety shows like the asmr ones or more recently the Street Alcohol Fighter episodes (spoiler alert they obviously got drunk lmao) ;)
Their artistry is unsurpassed. Thanks for your insights. Have u reacted to Soojin's, Got It, Artist of the Month at Studio Choom? Outstanding. I miss Soojin, hope she comes back to (G)I-dle. She deserves the best.
If you're still getting more into Gidle I would love to see a reaction to the I Burn album since you loved Hwaa so much. It is still my favourite album by them. It is such a coherent album and thematicly so great. Producer line really did amazingg Also, your rant about people saying Lion and Oh My God have the same structure was so on point lmao
Thank you for your interest and reaction to (G)I-Dle! They refer to themselves as just 'I-Dle' now after the Tomboy comeback, so you can drop teh (G) when referring to them. There are a few guides, the updated ones are VERY short and not as comprehensive, but easier to digest. The biggest and most comprehensive one I know of is by LovinSoojin titled "The Rise of G-Idle", there are a few times it gets bogged down when listing I-Dle's accomplishments, but it's their fault for being so talented. Be forewarned, ALL the guides sample their discography so you will hear snippets of songs you have not reacted to yet. I look forward to watching it again with you if you decide to post it online. OT6 forever! Soojin will never be forgotten, she and Soyeon have been friends way too long for the group to let go of her. Soojin actually secretly appeared in all of Soyeon's solo songs during her debut, that's how close they were.
I know this is a month old but i feel like it's the appropriate place to say this: since you picked up on the... *themes* of Oh My God i would really suggest checking out the English version bc it takes it to another level
It says first time hearing but.. you know the lyrics and you were the only person reacting I’ve seen that’s not surprised by the lick, at the end of the rap on oh my god….
it does not say first time hearing, it says first time reacting :) as i explained in the video, I know and like most of these songs but I hadn't see most of the mvs (except Tomboy), and I had never seen or heard Hwaa! i hope that clears everything up for you
About oh my god, Soyeon said that she thinks all kinds of love should be respected or something along the lines and the English version is just straight up gay so... i would say that yeah the song is pretty much about what you think is about.(i really recommend you listen to the English version.) Also about the mud scene, you can watch the behind on their i-talk ep 56 (It also has the behind for the whispering part and Shuhua is so adorable ha ha) but a fun fact that is not in the video is that Soyeon had an ear infection after that because some of the mud had went into her ear.
WE LOVE SOOJIN most people support ot6 Both Oh My God and Lion are apart of the I Trust album with Soyeon being the 1st female K-pop idol to write a album with no co writers so people try to discredit her by making up stuff about songs sounding the same Also HWAA is made in a poem style and is apart of a trilogy with hann(Alone) and hann(Alone in winter) Soyeon is a genius writer and producer
Also for a guide maybe between these two th-cam.com/video/RVXzk-4Gm6o/w-d-xo.html unhelpful for 2021 Or th-cam.com/video/wpAXbUrIXZI/w-d-xo.html helpful for 2022
HWAA is a Chinese word that can mean both fire and flower, depending on the character, and you can see the meaning they are using in the subtitles. Because of the dual meaning, it also represents spring.
the colour levels in this video physically hurt me to look at I am so sorry. I am still working on having a camera and needing skills in order to operate it.

oh my god actually have many theories:

2. bible reference about adam, eve and lilith
3. demon and angel
4. same sex relationship
and many more
there are a few good guides but my favorites are the "Outdated guide to gidle 2020" by lovinsoojin
soyeon when asked abt the use of the 'she' pronoun "we respect all loves" Oh My God is a song that can be interpreted in many ways and she purposely leaves it open for it. for sapphics (or just queer folk in general) it's a song that can really encapsulate religious trauma, internal struggles with not being straight etc but not caring. the song can also be interpreted as a journey to self-actualization as well, just simply learning to be who you are regardless of what society says.

"The rise of (G)I-DLE" is my favorite guide. It's about 90 minutes long.

(G)I-DLE has songs for everyone...you can like one and not the other but other people like what you dont like...they never do the same concept twice
Thank you for your interest and reaction to (G)I-Dle! They refer to themselves as just 'I-Dle' now after the Tomboy comeback, so you can drop teh (G) when referring to them.

I look forward to watching it again with you if you decide to post it online.

the one with pink hair in tomboy is yuqi
Great reaction 👍
About oh my god, Soyeon said that she thinks all kinds of love should be respected or something along the lines and the English version is just straight up gay so... i would say that yeah the song is pretty much about what you think is about.(i really recommend you listen to the English version.)
Also about the mud scene, you can watch the behind on their i-talk ep 56 (It also has the behind for the whispering part and Shuhua is so adorable ha ha) but a fun fact that is not in the video is that Soyeon had an ear infection after that because some of the mud had went into her ear.
and "a unhelpful guide to gidle" by Adriana Sandoval
both are a bit outdated but I feel like they both go deeper into the personalities of the girls which drew me to them along with their music
u should react their b side ..every songs are masterpiece
Please react to English versions of hwaa and oh my god! 1st one is pure poem and 2nd one is gay af
I was going to say that if anyone has any doubts about the sapphic content to check it the English version
WE LOVE SOOJIN most people support ot6
Both Oh My God and Lion are apart of the I Trust album with Soyeon being the 1st female K-pop idol to write a album with no co writers so people try to discredit her by making up stuff about songs sounding the same
Also HWAA is made in a poem style and is apart of a trilogy with hann(Alone) and hann(Alone in winter) Soyeon is a genius writer and producer
Also for a guide maybe between these two th-cam.com/video/RVXzk-4Gm6o/w-d-xo.html unhelpful for 2021
Or

HWAA is a Chinese word that can mean both fire and flower, depending on the character, and you can see the meaning they are using in the subtitles. Because of the dual meaning, it also represents spring.
