  • Scrapping ewaste for the gold, sliver, copper and aluminum. In this video I take all the copper bits and melt them into this beautiful ingot. Its not the most effective way to make money but still fun and love the way copper looks once melted.

Nice tip about not over filling using graphite molds.

Did he mention that he didn't let it cool down before trying to remove it?
I over fill my graphite mold all the time, and the ingots always fall out. trick is, you have to let it cool down and the ingot will shrink.

@@scrapman502 ok cool. I’ve not tried my hand yet at melting, but I am going to soon.

The mold was old and I did rush getting it out of the mold. Most of the time they come out easy.

If you are pulling IC's out of TV's, Keep them separate from the IC's you pull from computers. It is my belief that the IC's pulled from TV 's don't have any gold in them.
I work for a TV repair shop and We often change out the main boards out of TV's. I took a bunch of the TV boards home along with a bunch of juicy looking boards from hi-end audio equipment and proceeded to strip them down. I had nearly 1/2 pound of Chips when I was done. There were BGA's, gold cornered BGA's and tons of flat pack IC's. After incinerating them and processing the ash for the gold, I could not locate a single gold bond wire. Even the Small BGA memory chips that look like the chips you pull from Memory modules had NOTHING in them of any value.
Now we just toss TV boards in the dumpster (after I cut off the copper coils).

Thanks interesting, I haven’t processed mine yet, the guy I usually team up with to refine them said to keep them because he was able to get a decent yield from them.

I hope your TH-cam channel takes off and makes you a lot of money because you will go broke trying to make money on scrap this way.

It’s definitely not a cheap hobby. I’m not doing it for money at this point.

New subscriber from Colorado here. Quick question, did you take a measure of weight of the propane tank before and after to see how much propane it took to do this? Just asking bc I purchased a little smaller furnace and want to try melting copper and want to get an estimate on propane usage.

I didn’t weight my propane I need to start doing it more. On average I burn about 2 per melt.
