Really enjoyed watching this, grasstrack is a sport I have loved since the 1950s when my dad used to take me to a meeting on the back of his Cyclemaster..
Went to the aces for the last 10 years up to the very last one. Great shame it ended like it did as it was a fantastic weekend away camping with the lads. So many great memories and photos from those day 😢
Happy days. John Barclays commitment to this event was second to none he even had the field de_stoned. The flints used to be the size golf balls. Many windscreens were lost on cars.
Great shame the main man Ian Barclay that got the Ace of Aces up and running with his friends is no longer with us. Shame we lost the Ace of Aces. it was always brilliant.
cant remember where this old grasstracker was racing that day? but when the big cats were at the big meetings ole me used do well hehe.alas John Young and Bob Ruffel were never there to film the wins ...the 80's were sure crazy
Loved grass track and speedway. Imagine the fuss today if they said no job for a woman. But the whole point was it can be and is because they featured a woman. People would scream for them to be fired now. How times have changed.
In the seventies l went to Hereford with my mate Garry to the strong bow champion ship all top riders peter collins don godin Collins was slowing down in the final waiting for godin the king of grass to catch up he was a pore looser he wouldn’t come out to collect his runner up prize seen him also at western winner no one could catch him and grass wasn’t his thing either what memories

Bob still does filming, has his own Vimeo channel where you can watch whole meetings.
John Young died a few years ago.
If you can't remember you weren't invited
My pleasure.
