Great video boys , I will be down there in April to fish that stream and its lower stretch, which is certainly vastly different than above the bridge. One of my favourites .
    Thanks for the memories 😊

Pleasure Michael, thanks for watching! I haven't fished the lower stretch, must give it a go! Good luck for your trip. :)

Nice one again Steve. Great to see that the gurus occasionally still get hung up in the scrub! Tricky little stream.

Thanks so much, this was great. I just got home from an all day FlyFishing trip on my boat in Jervis Bay. Loved it and will do more this summer, keep the videos coming….

Haha, thanks Pete! Yeah it must look that way, what really happens is I accumulate footage from a few trips over time and don't get a chance to edit it until later on! 😆

Great to see the struggle is real with the sticks and tree with it just compounding one after the other

Haha yep! Happens so often on those small streams! 😆

Great vid Steve. I remember fishing that stretch when the lower lying rivers had blown it. It held up very well!

For streams like this would a 3wt 6’6 with WF1F and a x5 leader 4lb tippet be ok?? Cos my other set up is a 5/6wt 9” WF5SS with a 2-3x and 8lb tippet but I’ve got that set up for the big boys at bullen merri so streams like this it’s overkill .. or am I better off buying a whole new set up? I’ve only ever used the smaller set up in the salt chasing baits (yakka and Tommy’s and such)

Yes you would certainly get away with the smaller setup on this stream, for sure. I have a couple of short lightweight dry fly rods, but these days I mostly prefer to fish longer and lighter rods for trout wherever there is enough room to use them, primarily for the ability to hold more line off the water, fish longer leaders, and thus improve drifts. But in really tight cover and close range the shorter rods can be easier to fish with. Shorter rods can also be a little more accurate, if they are not too soft action. The 5-6 weight you're right it's probably overkill for this stream, but you could make it work if you wanted to. Still, it's always fun buying a new rod right?? 😆

@@PeachyFlyFishing might have to sneak a 2/3wt 9” on my wish list haha .. I’m only just getting into fly fishing streams I’ve always fished lakes and the salt with streamers and nimphs so dry and wet flies is wat I’m learning now .. I don’t have any fancy gear it’s no orvis or nothing haha it’s just gotrue and ssuoyailang stuff off wish and Temu it’s not to bad but can def the difference to my 1 expensive one

Where abouts is this little stream? Is it on private property?

    • @PeachyFlyFishing

Gday Nick, thanks for watching. It’s in North east Victoria which is full of little streams like this, but I deliberately didn’t reveal the exact location so as not to ruin the spot. It’s accessed from a public road. Sorry I can’t be more specific, but just get out there and search, there’s loads of little gems to be found. :)
