Hi Mike it’s always nice to watch your videos. Good luck on breeding and old bird races. Young birds look beautiful you are doing wonderful job with them. Give my love to family 🤗🤗😘😘😘🙏🙏🙏👍👍🐰🐰🐇🐇🐇 have a happy easter 🐇🐇🐇🐇
Great vid, thanks Mike. What has been your experience with coloured birds compared to Blue Bars in regards to returns? I love colour in my loft (about to start second season soon) but i hear a lot of guys describe them as 'hawk bait'. Started with a team of 15 last year and finished with 4, two of which were grizzle's sooo. On a side note, i also flew a pure white bird during all my loft and training flights last year who's sole purpose was to be a flying distraction for the hawks, she never got touched or chased as far as i know and is flying again this year. Any thoughts?
I never had any problems with light colored birds being singled out. But I assume it would be to the Hawks discretion. If there is a hawk that prefers the odd colored birds, then that’s what he’s gonna go after, but who’s to say all hawks hunt like that. I enjoy racing different colors to keep an interesting, looking flock, but just like any racing Pigeons if they don’t do well then you don’t breed them. I have had good results with colored Pigeons just as good as the dominant colored ones. Just a thought but if you had 30 white birds and one blue bar flying, do you think the hawk would go after the blue bar! Thanks for your question, my friend.
@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons Very good answer mate, thanks for taking the time. Your last comment cracked me up, I've never heard it put like that before but I'm going to use it on my mates at the club. I don't think the Falcon cares if its a pink pigeon myself, if thats the easiest looking one, the one falcon has to spend least amount of energy on, thats the one they want, throw in a bit of random luck and thats about it. Cheers Mike, appreciate the response.
It’s a thin line because you want them to be hungry but still have enough energy to fly fast. As the races get longer they are more willing to get in for a drink. Thanks for asking 👍
Hello Mike, I would like to know about a breeding pair of black eagles. Also, what was your results for all the birds you took in from the fancier who passed ? If I remember correctly you took in upwards of 25 YBs
For the black eagles, you can check out my website: rockyridgepigeons.com Yes, I did get 27 racing Pigeons from Mike McKinney. It didn’t work out very well rehoming them but I’m not sure it was the rehoming as most members of our club lost the majority of their birds. I ended with six of the 27 and , those six seem to be top-notch. Thanks for asking and following the channel my friend.
I used to have droppers, but they were more trouble than they were worth. I’ll wait for a racing pigeon that has a bad wing or something and start using that for a dropper, I didn’t like the satinets
Hello Abraham. Have a look at my website. I have the black eagles on there. but I also have a bunch of black eagles that I haven’t had time to put on the website yet! You can send me a message through the website and we can talk about it. Rockyridgepigeons.com Thanks for asking ✌️

Hi Mike ! What can you do to motivate the birds to trap ? When they come back from a race? To improve their time? If anything.
