TJ is a treasure! I'm sure most of us with old houses could use someone with experience like his to handle issues that exceed our skill set. Your daughter is a beauty, and it was great to see her shopping with her mom. I loved their reaction to the girl in the tapestry, who was unimpressed by the man with the flowers. I agree that the cream color in the garden bathroom was the right choice. Our living room has Mexican Talavera flower tiles on the fireplace, in bright blue, orange, and green. Ugh, what a choice. Then I noticed that every 4th tile had chevrons of mocha color at the corners. So, our large living room with the barrel ceiling and niches is now the color of chocolate milk. Perfect! When nothing else works, go neutral! You made me laugh, Rob, with your quick pan past the au natural Roman guys near the pool in big mural. It will be great to see a current before/after tour! :)
Remember you’re dealing with a old building and walls are just not perfect. That’s the charm of the Chateau. I’m a quilter and was an art major . Pick a color that lessens the flaws. It’s looking wonderful!
So wonderful of your friends to come all that way to help and do so much! I am always amazed at the ability to turn an ordinary room into such clean dressed up and inviting spaces even the bathrooms I love those old tiles and the colorful fixtures. Why not they work and everyone needs to remember this is an old Chateau it does not need to have modern fixtures as long as they serve the purpose intended. You with God's guidance, are doing a fantastic job getting everything ready for the students. You both have a tremendous load on your shoulders. I am so glad you will be getting the new roof soon that hopefully will solve a lot of worry ❤
Good company ,hard workers, great progress and a visit from your beautiful daughter makes for another awesome Sunday video . Thank you T.J. & Susan for all your blessing.
again, baffled by how quickly time goes when i watch your channel! lovely progress, lovely to see Amy again, and wonderful friends to help you out - thanks again for a great episode! 🌸 {the gardens look gorgeous indeed with all the trees and flowers and shrubs springing back to life... and yay to the rose!!}
My stomach sank to my ankles when you showed "the abyss"!! No thank you, glad it's your problem and not mine! Rob, seriously though, please start crowd-funding for a complete overhaul of the facade. I really hope it's not too late by the time you consider it needs to be done. Those cracks! Yikes!
How about putting a time capsule between the new support wall and old bowed wall in the basement? The Pethericks invited viewers to send time capsule letters to put in their renovated convent kitchen. Loved Amy's narration of the brocante!
Oil of cloves is good for killing mould. Cleaning expert Shannon Lush recommends 1/4 teaspoon of oil of cloves per litre of water in a spray bottle for cleaning mould from hard surfaces. Lightly mist on, leave overnight and then wipe off. Spray area again and leave it on.
The channels the show the gifts being open - they make it ONE video and proceeds from that video go to a charity. Giving and giving back. People like what you are doing - let them show their thanks and gratitude.
It is so great to see the progress that you guys have made. Getting ready for your fourth season. Such fantastic help you’ve had from friends, to mention. Also Amy is there to help as well. I can imagine it brought you both such joy to have her there. I am praying that this season with the students is one of your best yet.
I'm so impressed with your problem-solving abilities. While watching, I occasionally think, "Oh wow, why did you do it that way? It would be better thus and thus.' But when I hear your reasoning and/or see the finished product, I realize the choices you made are definitely the best approach. Praying for your continued success in elevating the chateau more and more each year.
Thank you I receive. Practice that, it helped me to accept the gifts of words, dinners or things, instead of rejecting it vibrationally which may be entangled with worth and worthy of receiving... both of which I struggled with until my friend said I may be rejecting the things that come into my life... you both bring such joy into peoples lives by sharing your grand adventure. Sending you all love ❤️
So lovely to be surrounded with so many amazing people who appreciate you and wish to help. Very cheerful thought. Massive jobs, and the cracks outside and above the windows...grrr... I hope this can be sorted xx so looking forward to watch next episode x
Rob the hose fittings are called Minsup, they are typically used for compressed air lines, there still used on medium to heavy industrial applications for Air compression tooling etc.
Hi Lesley and Rob, the new roof can't get here fast enough, it seems like France has had a rainy spring. I am so happy it's on its way, yay 3 weeks and counting. Everything is coming along; it seems like there is never enough hours in the day. You guys are doing a tremendous job, nice to see friends helping out, and hi to Amy, it was so nice to see her. Love from N.Y.
Your belief and determination is inspiring! You may be interested to watch the video from the Queens Escape chateau talking about squatters and how to be careful with the rules in France.
Later when you have time the repaired tiles can artistly have the pattern drawn on all the repair spots with a fine drawing paint brush and the colour matched and no one would ever know there were any patches on those tile then a glaze paint on top of the repair would last for another 50 years. Good luck that tile in that bathroom is beautiful and you’ve done amazing job repairing to this point and can look perfect later with pattern match by hand. Ps put a flat glaze on first so paint doesnt soak in and bleed then paint then final glaze to seal. ♥️♥️🥰🇨🇦👏👏👏
Great episode! Can't wait to see the roof work soon. Did you have a tree surgeon inspect the trees near the chateau? It would be so terrible to see those beautiful trees destroy another man made beauty.
Are you sure they are lady bugs or are they the destructive Asian bugs? They look like lady bugs but bite, destroy wood and come back in droves. They used to sell them in the US as lady bugs but have become a pest. What wonderful friends and help! I used spackle to add texture to a wall before I painted it. So you are just showing your creativity 😊, you use what is available. Be that trend setter!!
In that blue tile bath, what about navy blue? That may draw out the center floral design. You're right, those blue samples don't work, too much red, too much black/grey, too much yellow that makes it greenish. The cream may look 'dirty' or yellowish against the antique white of the tile background. That white will be equally difficult to match. Good luck with that, I understand the perplexing-ness of color and color matching/coordinating. Also, as you have a farm very close to the property, you'll always have an Asian Beetle isssue. Unfortunaly, these incidious insects aren't the cute little Lady Bugs they resemble. Turning the ground in spring and harvest in the fall really whips them up. Good luck with that as well as I have never been able to figure out a way to get rid of them.
Rob & Lesley, I cannot reiterate the importance of wearing masks, when cleaning moulds etc, more. I'm speaking as a microbiologist. Rikki Biermann, Pretoria, South Africa 🇿🇦
Blue fixture bathroom @ 49:58. Idea could you re-grout to make the tile appear more like white subway tiles. No, I guess not. Maybe you could use floor paint and paint the wall tiles white. Maybe even the floor tiles too.
Viewers really do love to send you what you need and probably get a great deal of pleasure out of that. There is one chateau in particular that has a whole separate channel just showcasing all of the gifts that people send and that is so creepy and cringeworthy especially as there are so many people in the world who need the basics. I completely understand your sentiments in relation to gifts but it looks as if you have received some things that you actually need and will use. The chateau is looking just gorgeous too.
If I recognize the specific aria from The Messiah you use in you intro, it has the phrase "the crooked straight and the rough places plain" repeated many times. It sounds like classical french garden design. Versailles and many chateau would have fit the bill. I'm not sure how much anything else within them did but I'm getting old. more rigid and set in my ways BTW - I had to do the same thing to my DIY ceilings but found a guy around the neighborhood who went through about 25 gallons of joint compound to cover unevenness and some still slightly visible seams with a texture he pressed into it with his own bare hands. The ceilings weren't very uneven. He just laid a think layer to get a deep texture. I don't know how he managed to do that without drying them to the point of bleeding but it didn't seem to bother him at all. I couldn't work with sheetrock very long without it sucking the oil out of my hands. Corrugated cardboard does that too I've noticed. Too bad about the falling stone. The Two Jeromes - on TH-cam occasionally- always keep their stone scraps, crush them, mix it with cement and make perfectly matching patches. For places like the broken molding where the piece may be substantial, they use stainless steel screws into the stone and build the patch over that. They get amazing results. It isn't clear how long the patching may last. The beams over time also shrink a lot across the grain and not so much along the length. 4in x 4in x 16in firewood I get each year can shrink by as much as 3/4 inches across the width in a year. That painting at the end looks very modern. It looks like the work of an amateur. Maybe it was one of the prior owner' family members within recent years? It looks like it is supposed to be a bath or garden with baths. You can see passages that look like the painter wanted an Alma-Tadema kind of roman extravaganza. I think the figures fighting over a towel in the back are from one of his bath paintings? TH-cam? censorship would seem a little silly considering the context. If you don't really like it you could always paint over it with a water based paint. I don't really think it goes with your place anyway. If it was my place I wouldn't keep it because they make the architectural parts look clumsy and inelegant. It doesn't do the figures much of a favor ether. (hope the painter doesn't see this).
Yes, thanks for noticing. "Every valley will be exalted, and the rough places made plain". The passage specifically from Isaiah referring to John the Baptist calling for the way to be prepared for the messiah. In general terms, we're alluding to the fact that God can make a way, even when things are not straight and easy.
Hubby & I ran a 120 acre, 379 bed Church Youth camp. I found the Valspar paint to be the worst paint ever. It could take 3 costs, even with a tinted primer. Too watery too. Yeah the gifts are odd always will be - one chateau channel gets real obnoxious about flashing gifts. Do people expect to be thanked on a vlog? Kind of defeats the spirit of giving.
I think I know the chateau you are referring to. Don’t they donate the proceeds of the “flashing the gifts vlogs” to charity? Surely a no more Christian endeavour?
Your little dog is so adorable he just loves to be the center of attention
The amount of work is overwhelming but your great attitudes are a joy to watch. Know how proud you are of your beautiful daughter.

Yes cream on the walls…the color that is on the wall is a blue green…nope…love watching all the work that is going on…
Your daughter is a beautiful blend between the two of you! Love the beautiful rooms. Such satisfaction to see the rewards for all your hardwork.
You're doing fine. Don't worry about pleasing us. We're onboard with what you are doing. God speed.
For mold i discovered that hydrogen peroxide works much better in the long term. Keep up the good work.

Love the little windows in the door...poor little rosebush
Good company ,hard workers, great progress and a visit from your beautiful daughter makes for another awesome Sunday video . Thank you T.J. & Susan for all your blessing.
Love the Gardners bathroom. Leslie should finish painting the broken tiles that you filled

Wallpaper for back of cabinet
I’m not sure I could be a chatelaine with all the high ceilings and ladder climbing. Rob definitely has more courage than me in that department.
Scaffolding is a good alternative, though a bit more work. 😊
Great job ❤ loved seeing Amy.

I love Rob’s laugh!
Love that song!! All my life you have been faithful!!❤ Everything is looking great!,
I really enjoyed seeing you guys work on all the exciting projects. It was fun. I will see you next time. Thanks so much!!!!!
You guys are working so hard and doing a great job. God continue to bless you. Also, give you wisdom and strength. Blessings and prayers.
Wonderful that you get help. It makes jobs jump forward. Regards
God Bless you as you prepare to open up for your ministry once again this year.
Great progress! So nice to so Amy again and another brocante shop. Stay safe on those ladders!!

It's all looking fantastic, well done both xx
I love keeping up with your progress but more than that your dedication to your mission and how your lives will impact and bless so many young people.
Girls need their own bathroom… what about velux windows in the attic and doermers… increase living space to another floor… enlarge rooms
Coolest chateau I’ve ever seen! And even more rooms when your roof is fixed.❤
Thank you I receive. One suggestion maybe, painting the bathroom in cloud accents ! But maybe it wouldn’t suit!!
You guys are doing soo awesome!!
Another Super Sunday story! Go Team Griff! 😁
I like the Japanese bathroom tiles. It’s something different and unique.

Great video 👍 Before painting the ceiling apply some fsb brush on sealer solution also use after fresh plaster or mud is dry.😊
I laughed so much when I saw the pigeon in the box it was very funny😂

Great progress! So exciting! Really enjoying watching all your projects come together and getting closer to the students arrival !❤️
Yeah to new Roof in 3 weeks!!!!
Great job guys! Glad Amy is back!
Rob the pidgin was like you walked in on a woman in the bathroom lol

Hi Rob, you should fill in a little part of the crack to see if it widens in the future ;-)
If those "ladybugs" are more orange color, they may be pesky Japanese beetles. They are not nice.

Hi there, great video again. I don't think the pigeon can fly out of the bucket, it's stuck. I hope you got it out. God bless.
😅I think your honey do list grew legs and went from a page to a novel.
Nice to meet Amy!
Very cool.
They are some great workers
Your daughter is beautiful.
The"batroom "😂
Awesome!
Should have purchased tiny bed for Mr. Bingley.
Love your positivity ❤
Can you give the students a work day in when they are there?
In the bathroom; Why not put a band of wall paper over the transition line so the smooth texture makes sense.
Put the picture of the unimpressed lady on the guys room to remind them to keep it real
😂😂😂😂😂
Yah the blue id perfect classy ❤❤
Scaffolding
I am so scared of heights, I just feel dizzy on some shots.

Do TJ and Susan know people in Indonesia? Such as the Nicholsons? Long-term friends of ours.
Please don't get smashed by a tree🌳
Hi Amy
Butter by BTS on the background tho 😅❤
Guys you probably need to wear the appropriate masks/respirators when cleaning mould and alien growths❤❤❤
👋👍❤️

I tried to give you a thumbs ip and you tube wouldn't let me. Thought you might like to know.
Weird, thanks for the heads up, and also the virtual thumbs up:)

Not sure if available in France.
