You usually want to look at 4 inch temps not 2 inch. But yes, the mild late winter has definitely gotten things started earlier. This cold finish to March should set things back closer to normal unless early April gets hot
Hi Buddy , this video was great . I really enjoyed . I live in Terre Haute and I'm 57 yrs old been goin out huntin since I was 4. I believe you are SPOT ON !!! I was just telling some of my co-workers the exact info . Early season by two to three weeks , and if we get a few more scattered days of decent rainfall and Temps maintain , it should be a great season . Any way Thanks again and God bless Kurt
Kudos on an interesting compilation of data young man. I respect your approach and the obvious amount of effort that you've invested in producing your forecast. 👍 I hope to get out there to see how well your forecast tracks! Happy Easter!
I'm seeing tons of verpa bohemica as well as gyromitra here in NorCal mountains. We've had fantastic snow and rainfall this year with a steady slow climb in temps and I fully expect another great year. Last year was pretty similar and I found 54 pounds!
Dude, you rule. Love this idea, I’ve been documenting the last few seasons in my area and trying to do a lil forecasting myself. I also am predicting an epic season out here in So. Oregon. Hope it’s not wishful thinking. Happy trails amigo, I’ll be staying tuned for your future vids. Peace
Subscribed with a caveat; PNW and western US as well as other affected regions are influenced by forest fires and prescribed fires that are held to or within reasonable acreages. Some certain soil conditions lend themselves better to growing than others during the course of the year. Personal outlook only.
@@WillieMakeit oh yeah we get morels up here. Pretty much all of Canada except for way up North. Out west in Northern British Columbia and Alberta there are incredibly huge flushes of morels where the forest fires happen every year but in my area of Southern Ontario I start finding small ones in the last week of April usually and I find them until the end of May. Apples, Elm, Spruce and Pine tend to be the best places that I find them. I actually teach foraging wild edible plants and mushrooms and harvest wild mushrooms and sell them at markets. It's a fun little part-time job! Best of luck this year
Does anyone else live in an area that lacks morels? I’m in central Kentucky, if I drive a few hours there’s loads of them but within the inner bluegrass they’re extremely rare, none of the typical tips seem to work here, we have plenty of appropriate host trees, elm, dead ash, sycamore, hedgeapple, black cherry, cedar… but they just don’t seem to support morels. It’s really a bummer
It’s a prediction on how the season will be compared to previous years. Honestly I’m not sure I’d agree they’re the capital either, Oregon has A LOT, ones we can’t get out East, not to mention it’s a big world, and morels grow all across the temperate world. Cheers
You have to get the rain and the temperature at the same time line , not one or the other, but both..
I’m patiently waiting in Wisconsin 🙏
i hear you brother , I'm in Indiana and can't wait for a mess !!😁
We didn’t hardly have any snow, so we need rain for a while before the warm up.
I think wisco is getting snow this weekend
4” of snow yesterday and more coming tomorrow. Kinda like rain lol .
IKR.

My brother has found several hundred in South Carolina already!
