I remember when this aired. She was great. Even for people who don’t want to watch the whole competition, each year tune in for the audition episodes at least. So many gems to enjoy that never make it to live shows.

Someone did make a good point in another comment, that they much get many terrible "opera singers"auditioning on stage
Opera is so challenging. I’m currently being trained classically, it’s no joke. Technique, skill, patience, breath, vowel and voice placement, etc. Simon should get on that stage and sing for us.
I don't think people realize just how much talent she really has.

Once she said she was an Opera singer she gave me all the info that I needed to know. Opera singers are constantly playing with their voices (saying his as an opera singer myself 😂)
Makes sense. We're trained to manipulate our mouths and throat to produce specific sounds and tonal qualities. It's not too far of a stretch to use that ability to produce tones and vocal types outside of opera. XD
Im told I can be a opera singer with how often I change my voice to screw with my friends in Garry's mod etc like copying scrap traps voice and making my friends go silent wondering if they added audio in for him in the model

I'm so sad as a classical singer that she was immediately dismissed for mentioning opera. Classical music is so incredible once you study its history and give it a shot but it is very stereotyped. Especially opera - it isn't actually that different from modern day musicals but a lot of people don't bother because it's often in a different language. It takes a LOT of work to develop your voice that far so it's upsetting that it's so looked down upon.
