Mad respect for the amount of research that went into this video. It's tough to cover even one team well, so to catch most of the major points covered by the Kansas beat writers is impressive. People reporting on teams on a national level rarely get beyond QB and RB in their analysis.
With Bryce being added, Shane hopefully gets mostly unnoticed minutes unless there is an injury. Jereme Robinson is not a breakout star. He’s been a dependable player even before he started last year. Next to JD6 staying healthy, Bai is the key to season, though maybe Dak or Deshawn has a breakout freshman season on the edge. Cornell Wheeler is probably the breakout candidate. Looks like he fills the MLB role. Damarius McGhee looks like he’s healthy and ready to be the 3rd DB after two seniors graduated, though there are multiple highly regarded freshmen CB’s.
JD6’s health is very crucial to this season. We no longer have Bean and while Ballard gave us a chance to beat K-State last year he also threw 2 INTS that hurt us and was a walk on last year for a reason. I really like the freshmen QB Marshall but he’s still only a freshmen. From my understanding the offense will be the same because it’s Leipolds offend Grimrs will just get to put his own spin on it like AK did. The offense focuses on the wide zone run game and that fits Grimes like a glove. People forget Grimes made Zac Wilson look like a first round pick at BYU in his offense.
Also I could see Deshawn Warner KU’s highest rated recruit in school history making it in the pass rush rotation. He had offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, and Washington he took a big chance in going to KU so I imagine the coaching staff will try and reward him with playing time to keep him happy.
DE this year reminds me of WRs 2 years ago. Potential. Boa Jobe, DJ Warriner, and Dak Brinkley could absolutely blow up. Look for Robinson to slide insides on obvious passing downs so that 2 of the 3 can get on the field. Super excited about Jobe who was rated even higher than DJ last year, and now with a year of physical development.
@@johnlee7085 yea our pass rush looks phenomenal at least from a potential sense but I wish Booker would’ve stayed one more year. Problem is outside of Robinson they are all freshmen (Jobe being a RS freshmen) so I expect a learning curve but if we can somehow keep Dak, DeShawn, and Jobe at KU for two to three years..man that’ll be one of the best pass rush in the country (if they all develop properly).
JD6 or not going to be a good team. Liepold doesn't build programs around 1 player. Is JD6 great yes, would he be great yes... we have competitive guys at every position and addition of Bryce Foster is a huge get! RCJH!
Good is subjective, last year with Bean Kansas was productive I wouldn’t call them good per se as they were crushed by Texas and with Daniel’s that’s closer to a one possession game. Huge difference between Bean and Jalon. Leipold may not build his program around 1 player but Kotelnicki built his offense around Daniel’s versatility. The bigger question is with AK departure will Kansas’ offense be as explosive under Grimes …that’s TBD This is Kansas best team in arguably a decade being just good isn’t good enough. The B12 is wide open with Texas & OU gone. Kansas has the 3rd best odds to win B12 I think that’s accurate. Foster is a huge addition on the OL, I have Kansas in the champ game on paper they should be undefeated or 1 loss going into champ week. Question mark is grimes offense
Best team in a decade is unquestioned, because we’ve been bad to worst for a decade and a half prior to LL. Two decades, includes the OB team, and opens things up for debate, which won’t be answered until December.
@@johnlee7085 I agree ... been saying that also about the quarterback situation (which I said last year also) ... not saying a negative about JD6 he has to prove himself but sports is a what have you done for me lately and who is going to which bowl game and rankings. Come December we will know who is driving in the QB seat. I wasn't fan of a necklace having highlights playing, for me it's put up or shut up for JD6, it's up to him price his critics wrong and up to him prove to us he can stay healthy and lead the team on the field. In life and business past behaviors can be a prediction of future. I am pulling for him but I am also pulling for our backups... in Lance I trust not JD6. December we will know more.
If you know football and have watched the last 2 years, Bean was a nice surprise, along with Cole Ballard. Daniels is way above both acknowledge and physicality. I'm excited about Ballard Daniel has to be healthy.
