  • How to return the long and fast serve in table tennis. Beginners don't know how to return the long serve correctly, and normally just return it passively.
    Meanwhile, professional players try to control the placement of the return. Pro players also attack all the long serve. Today, coach EmRatThich explains the best tips to deal with long serve in table tennis.

      Great video. It motivates me more to attack the long serve. Against penholders, are my only two options wide FH and BH since they don't really have an "elbow" if I want to do active drive?

    Hi, great video.
    I play an amateur league, and this serve is very effective.
    It is amazing how many amateur players have problems with this serve, that looks like it should be easy to return.
    Oh course if my opponent knows how to return it properly I serve "more normal" serves ;)

    Hi, last years you see more high level players serving more long fast services with variabel spin...last wk even ma long was in trouble through excellent serving of Gardos and had problems. I think also because soms players are so strong on half long/short services with direct scoring bh flip or are very good in lading the ball short. Therefore training a good long serve and 3th ball on the fast receive has become more important in high level tabletennis...what do you think?

    Hi, coach, great videos, educational and fun at the same time. I have seen your video How to win against long pips. Can you make a video how to play with long pips, and win. I am mostly defender, but I try to attack with long pips as often as possible. How can I, for example, return long serve with long pips, and so on. Best regards

    • @minplex7132
      @minplex7132 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know a women who played with long pips and attacks with the pips (backhand). She is close to the tabel and brushes the ball producing a shot with a hard to read spin ehich many players have problems with. You can watch some older pro players with a wide backhand topspin. You can get inspiration from this but you have to develop your own stroke because it is a very special stroke. I am not a coach but I hope this will help you :)

      Hey, if you're still wondering: Try starting your swings earlier and playing all your attacks at 65% power maximum. Place the ball too. Don't sit there and hesitate, then snap at the ball with all your power. Get YOUR FEET into position early and go through your swing fluidly. Plus, all great players make sure their own negative emotions don't make them tentative or unsure of themselves. If you turn those negative emotions into frustration + anger at yourself, and use that adrenaline surge to make your feet move quicker.
      And finally, stop doing regular exercises altogether because they're virtually useless. Just start playing matches the entire time you train. Don't do anything else until you solve this issue. Start with no warm-ups whatsoever and start keeping score immediately. And try to win too. Don't stop to hit in between matches at all either. Play matches 100% of the time.
      With these things in mind you should start to play matches a lot better within a month or two.
      (From an anonymous coach/player at the highest level)

    • @minplex7132

      Flip or active drive are in my opinion the best. You could push but this isnt really effective. Try to really focus on feeling the ball. Get someone who can do the serve and ask him to serve short with sidespin amd then just try to get the ball where you want him and focus on every ball as I said earlier on the feeling this will help a lot. I am not a coach but maybe someone with more Experience can agree or say what i got wrong ^^

    I, personally return with a short chop, putting the ball closest to the net as possible so the oppnent can only place the ball close and over the net wich for me is essential because then i can attack sending the ball on the far backhand giving the oppnent no time to recover. Or i block with a semi drive giving the ball top spin sending it low in the far forehand as close as possible to the edge of the table letting no space for a substantial attack.

    • @minplex7132
      @minplex7132 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the serve is fast enough you can't chop it short!

    • @Goguleroma
      @Goguleroma 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MinPlex you can if you give a lot of back spin and follow the ball with the racket. So you kinda go with the racket ahead of the ball just like then you tap it to stop from bouncing, in the same time, heavy back sping is needed

    • @minplex7132
      @minplex7132 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Uhm I had a workshop about serve and return. The coach said you will never be able to serve like a pro because they are much stronger have more Muscle so they can make serves we will never be able to do. What you can do is working on your serve! Change your speed practise ball Placement with spin without try new things out because it is your game not the game of a pro. E.g. if you are someone who likes to block dont make a short underspin serve because you will get him in the lower classes pushed on the long line or short. You should try to make a long serve on his elbow because this will decrease the quality of the shot and you have a lot more options and chances to win the ball. Which I really noticed practise every single training serves. I really felt how my quality improved. Now I practise serving every training and it is getting a lot better because I can get better in my playing pattern. I am not a coach but these are just a few things that might help you ^^

    Another "european player" bashing kek. Find it funny that you as a noname coach try to tell schlager how to play the game (bad to serve long on high level) who was world champion...

    • @meklon5
      @meklon5 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess this match was just a good opportunity to show what to do against fast services. In this match Schlager hat a lot of winners (I think also aces) but the point is that even against fast service there are several possibilities to react.
      So not intended as a bashing session for Schlager (who was at the end of his active carreer).
      Anyway I think not everybody has the talent as Ma Long but not every opponent has a fierce service like Werner Schlager.
      Thx for the video and the lesson, coach!
