I guess my issue with dedicated fidget toys is that you kinda have to remember to have them on you. A think infamously hard to do when you have adhd. I think it’s more reasonable to have fidget items that are incorporated into things that are already everyday items, like pens, phone cases, or something easy to keep on you like jewelry (i love the rings that spin) having a toy that has multiple small parts isn’t practical for what it’s trying to do
As someone with anxiety, I love the rings too! It's way more convenient and no one gives weird looks when I mess with it. I also enjoy hearing the movable band hit the non-movable one when shaking my hands and it isn't too loud like other fidget toys do.
Having a completely regular simple ring to move around on your finger or take off and fiddle with works too, i bet the spinny rings are wonderful though.
@@leolion3323 It depends on the ring. I have two other rings that are regular rings but with them having a design on one side can lead to me forgetting and either hitting the ring wrong or it rubs against my other fingers the wrong way. The spinny rings at least don't do any of that because the design is the same all around on the spinny part, but it's not so deep that you can really feel the design.
That’s fair! I guess these fidgets (especially when they’re cheaper) would be a good way to figure out what fidget method works best for you, whether it be a spinny, a flicky, a snappy, stuff like that. Then from there, you can find everyday items that work for the same thing. I did something similar; I played with different fidgets until I used a fidget spinner, and when the spinny worked, I got a spinny ring that had the flick I wanted, but was subtle.
I would love to see you review fidget jewelry! Growing up, I dropped so many rings, lost so many earrings, and broke so many necklaces because I couldn't quit messing with them. Now that I'm a grownup with a diagnosis and have discovered that it's A Thing, I'd love to find some that are actually satisfying
As a jewelry maker with adhd, I recommend getting a open box clasp or a bayonette clasp for your jewelry! When I learned how to build them, i couldn't stop opening and closing them. If you get a nice and sturdy one, it will even have a very satisfying click when you close it! :D Also a coworker made me a ring with a Button to press on top, I really love that thing!
i know an ASMR content creator who makes fidget jewelry, i don't know her personally, idk if i can just casually advertise someone here LOL, but if you're curious let me know
some one got me a locket that had no hinges I use to fidget with that all the time, I try so hard not to loose my rings , and I now fine really sturdy changes for my neclases or just change out one great one I have with different pendents, it gets anoyign but I didn't realise how much I did this till some one brought it up.
one time i accidently took a couple of bites out of a post-it note i was messing with when i ran out of my medication and was in a discord call, playing some kind of roblox game, and watching a youtube video at the same time. it took someone in call asking what *that sound* was for me to realize "hey im eating a post-it note."
No I would absolutely put the polishing sponge in my mouth. I've got ADHD and ASD, and a big stim of mine is chewing. Honestly, that sponge probably has a wonderful texture
you should try wearable fidget toys. i have a couple of spinning rings that i wear occasionally. it’s really nice to be able to wear them out of the house when a lot of fidget toys are too big or awkward to bring everywhere with you (i’ve seen rings, necklaces, and things styled to look like a watch)
As a smoker the best fidget toy for me is a zippo lighter… There are so many fun little tricks you can learn and fidget with! The maintenance of refilling, trimming/changing the wick, and changing flint can be therapeutic too Even if you don’t smoke, there are smaller/cheaper options that are price equivalent to a lot of other fidget toys! Also handy if you like burning candles often

I don't have ADHD but I'm in the process of getting diagnosed for Autism and like having something to spin around when I think. However, they always end up breaking. Recently,I've found a better way and that's using a laser pointer. Same effect but actually intended to be spun
i have a pair of dogtags that i got years ago and i fidget with the chain and the tags :) because of how dogtags and their chains are built to last, they don't break even if you're a really hard fidgeter, and you can loop around the chain for a Good Sensory Feeling over your hands or spin the tags around the chain (i know this is completely unsolicited advice but i also break fidgets and thought i'd share lol)

it's really cool to see creators being open about this stuff! i loved this video but the companies way overprice this stuff, a lot of these things were so expensive when you can get magnets for so much cheaper at a hardware store, or a regular pen instead. I understand that the aesthetic is cool for some of them if you have the money for it, though a lot of places will charge more for fidgets that look less like a childrens toy or are more discreet, and the bright "childish" ones are already so expensive! I wish that they could be more accessible financially, and not take advantage of the fact that they're selling a specific accessibility item to people who are already more likely to impulse purchase because of their disability.
