      I do not know why people make these vids. They just cause arguments and are dumb as hell. I play paintball myself, but it would be 20 times better if the video was titles why I play paintball or something. These videos could also cause tension and arguments with the airsoft community, just stop doing it!🤦‍♂️

    • @TGWecho
      @TGWecho 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@zeimeen false. Speedqb is alot more popular in states like cali. And speedsoft isn't speedqb. Speedqb is a game speedsoft is a fast paced play style. Take the amount of people who play indoor or in a small outdoors field (most of them) see how many have acually gone to a milsim. And considering the most popular age for airsoft is 12-16 they aren't even old enough to go to a milsim without an adult there. So how can you call yourself "milsim" if you have never gone to a milsim. You can have camo and military gear but if you haven't gone to a milsim you can't call your self a milsim player.

      WillBallForSoup I have playing for 2 years consistently, every other weekend, no tournament, but if anything Airsoft kinda splits into speedsoft(tournament style) and milsim (re-enactment almost). I’m an active duty US Marine, so weapon familiarity and gear load outs were a seamless transition into the sport from my job. A big kicker that you mentioned in a comment earlier is true , mothers of America don’t want their kids to play with Airsoft guns because they look like the real deal, and with the media’s portrayal of guns no parents wants to put their kid in that environment. As if “Airsoft” was a gateway drug to becoming a school shooter. Paintball has been around longer so it’s more of a norm for a family to get together on a Saturday and play. Which I am jealous of.

    Nice Vid Fellas!
    I made the transition from paintball to airsoft when I was younger (couldn't afford it) and have been actively playing airsoft for over a decade and now have a youtube channel dedicated to the more competitive side of things. As much love as I have for the sport the gripe that Ive always had with airsoft is that since there is no sort of marking system (Paint) I felt that there would never be a way that it could truly become "competitive" BUT here I am now, helping out & participating in the main competitive scene in the airsoft community we call SpeedQb. Which basically rooted from a bunch of OG paintball players bringing a speedball style format to the airsoft community...Why? Because surprisingly there was actually a player base out there for it and now its spreading across the nation. I still agree that Paintball is better than Airsoft from a competitive sport aspect & will never forget my roots, but I do definitely see a rise in "competitive airsoft" which is something that has never really existed in the past. Thanks for this video man, always been a fan of paintball media 👌🏾

    • @WillBallForSoup
      @WillBallForSoup  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Maybe you should come at us with a video about why airsoft is better than paintball. I've watched a few Speed airsoft videos. I think it would benefit from a marking system as well and consistent bunkers.
      Like for us a Dorito is always the same dimensions, same with the tower and temple bunkers.
      Healthy disagreement and debate is why we put this video out. Maybe the competetive airsoft scene will change and be more like us.

      TheDeeMoe personally both sides have there benefits im a magfed player and play magfed events all around the east speedqb is highly entertaining to watch I love the styles your setups have to the point where my magfed setup is pretty much based of a speedqb setup that wearing minimalist gear and short light setups in order to get around the field faster yes there is no residue from the projectile but traccer units are making it alittle easier for players and refs to see the projectiles make impact but I believe the biggest problem with your game is the toxicity of the players specific in speedsoft deemoe there are multiple videos of you getting magdumped by edgy teens that want to get a couple of views on TH-cam and there are hundreds of videos of just airsoft players being toxic don’t get me wrong paintball has there share of bad apples but they are no where near as rampant as airsoft yes it of course is expensive but makes up for it with the fact there are many different play styles and again as stated in the video a better tornument setup other then that both sports are amazing and I hope to both grow

    As a paintballer myself, i feel that this video is exremelly biased towards paintball. You're throwing shit at another community of people that at the end of the day, aren't that much different from us. Plus you're comparing speedballing to airsoft, which is often scenario or milsim based.
    Speedball games are usually not more than 7 minutes, whereas an airsoft game can span for days at a time. One focuses on agility, and the other focuses on endurance. You can't really compare the two.
    There should not be a why this is better than that, but more of a mutual respect for both communities. Just do what you like to do, and don't hate on someone for doing something they like. I have seen fat paintballers and i've seen fat airsofters.
    Shit like this only breeds toxicity. Toxicity only leads to the destruction of a community, which ultimately leads to friendships lost. If you're not in this for fun with your friends at the end of the day, why are you even doing it?

    Okay, here is my two cents on this matter (from an airsofter)
    It's true, airsoft is an honesty based sport, but I feel that makes it better, because it builds trust between the players, and while it may be different in other countries or clubs, I've personally never really encountered any cheaters or scammers in the three or so years that I've been playing. Everybody who I've met in the sport has been honest and kind, and when I was new to the sport I was helped a lot by the other, more experienced players.
    Also there are a lot of airsofters who spend thousands of dollars on camera equipment and film their games, like Novritsch, Desertfoxairsoft, House Gamers, Silo, and countless other channels, many of whom have well over 1M subscribers.
    Airsoft guns are far, FAR more realistic than paintball markers, some airsoft guns can almost perfectly replicate their real firearm counterparts, and while that may not be for everyone, it's certainly something I love about the sport. There is far more variety among airsoft guns and companies than there is in paintball, with almost every well-known firearm being represented by some airsoft counterpart. If you don't like realistic looking ones, there are countless examples of people and companies making airsoft guns that don't look real, and instead look sci-fi, or something.
    Airsoft is also a hell of a lot cheaper than paintball, I can buy 4000 airsoft bbs for less than $20 USD, but 4000 paintballs would cost hundreds of dollars, and a decent airsoft gun is only slightly more expensive than a decent paintball marker.
    Another factor is that airsoft guns have far better ballistics than paintball markers, airsoft guns (from what I've seen) have far greater range and accuracy than paintball guns, and airsoft doesn't hurt nearly as much as paintball, which is better for newer players, and just for people who don't want to get covered in bruises.
    Anyway, this is just my two cents. I'm not dissing paintball, I just think airsoft is better for the reasons I have mentioned. Sorry for writing an essay.

    • @WillBallForSoup
      @WillBallForSoup  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually the intent of this video is to create dialogue so I respect the big ole essay! If I were making a video on the other side, paint prices are kinda inaccessible. On average 2,000 balls is about $50 + or - $10 depending what coast you are closer to. As for other points, you contested those are Jake's. But I feel that to get closer to being recognized as a sport paintball needs to move away from replica firearms. I'll always shoot the "space guns" PS: can you recomend some airsoft tournament videos?

    • @Didymus-vz6uy
      @Didymus-vz6uy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only thing I may disagree with here is the range. First Strike rounds can hit 250 to 300 feet easy from what I've heard. That being said, those are even more expensive than regular paintballs. And accuracy through volume of fire is also acceptable :)

    • @fez8154
      @fez8154 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cryopinacle sure Airsoft has more realistic factor to it and the rounds are way cheaper but I don’t feel like that was the point of the video. first off i will state i have 6-7 years of paintball and I only played airsoft like 10 times so their is bias
      i live in Canada and magfed is super large here, it takes normal paintballs and fsr shaped projectiles and in total is much more realistic then most airsoft.
      for one there is more structure because you can not drop 700bb's so fire fights feel like fire fights with guns/markers that have recoil and take real steel parts and because the mass they carry they are much less effected then light bushes and wind.
      saying airsoft is more realistic is like saying call of duty is realistic, i have no problem with airsoft and some people do get in groups to play tactically but as a whole it does not feel as realistic as some good magfed

    • @zacharywright165

      Mumpel Tier
      I’ve owned and used both air soft guns and paintball markers that are based on ar-15 frames, both were around $7-800. The paintball stuff, in almost all situations has a greater recoil compared to airsoft. It has much larger scale internals, and is using much more air to move a much larger and heavier projectile.
      And I agree with his point, when using a magfed paintball marker it feels much more genuine than using an airsoft gun. It, in fact, has a greater amount of recoil and a much more accurate (as compared to real steel) magazine size. The size, weight, and feel were also basically exactly the same. Also the paintball stuff had a much larger customization community, with an insane variety of product parts and custom made ones.
      Though, just the same for both, it depends on whether or not you have an effective team with good communication in a good environment to play against other good players also playing magfed to get the most “”””genuine”””” experience

    I know this vid is kinda old, so my comment probably won’t get any attention, but I’d like to say some stuff as an airsofter heading into paintball. I just competed in my first paintball tournament (2019 winter classic at lonewolf) a few days ago, and it was definitely better than my experience with airsoft. Airsoft seemed to be less social. In the airsoft staging area (at my field anyhow) nobody really talked to anybody outside of their group, but at my local paintball field, everyone talks to everyone. Also, at the winter classic, one of my teammates only brought a co2 gun, so he had to use a rental for a tournament. But, for like 3-5 out of our 8 matches, other teams in higher divisions offered to let my friend use their guns instead of his rental.
    Basically, the paintball community seems more social and more open to new players, but both communities are great.

    I have 20 years paintball exp and about 8 years airsoft. Whats better.. Well at my local fields the FPS limit is like 270 Max. Witch means you need to be around 265. Thats really slow and anyone over like 50 60 feet is a Long ball rainbow shot. Not long ago 300fps and 290s were fine. thats a HUGE change. If you ask me what is Better they Both have strong ups and downs. Cost is about 2x more expensive for paintball. And if you play Sniper you could spend under 40 for a full days play. Most people are UNDER 50 for a Full day play. VS 70 a case and 25 walk on. Some people say its easy to cheat in airsoft. Nobody calls hits... I SAY bull shit... If you go to a Quality airsoft field with good refs and rules there will be Little to zero cheating. Or not enough to care about. In my experience YES I was sure I got that guy but he didnt call it... That happens in paintball just the same. I dont think one is better then the other its all personal taste. However Airsoft IS 100% More tactical and team focused with objectives like a MILSIM. Yes airsoft is WAY WAY more accurate and YES people use optics all the time. If you dont think airsoft is more accurate go check out some airsoft sniper videos of Noverich. He gets head shots at 200 feet all day long. That is IMPOSSIBLE in paintball.... I should make a video on both BC I have played both LOTS... Airsoft is amazing though.

      I dont disagree about it being an easier sell, but I think paintball just needs to accept that it isnt and never will be a large market sport. Play to all aspects of the game, including milsim, because ultimately not that many moms are ever going to even think about their kid and paintball. An even smaller amount of parents that put thought into their kid and paintball will actually care about the "military replica" aspect. So yeah those 5 moms that dont let their kids play cuz the guns are scary probs arent going to be appeased anyway.

      I can seriously remember the day my liberal neighbors mom came over and said that her kid wasn't allowed to shoot my 98custom with M4 style stock because it was like "training with a firearm". He was never allowed to go to the field with me and we had a slow falling out from that point forward.

    No hate to the paint ball community but I genuinely think airsoft is a better sport.
    The first reason why I think Air Soft is better than paintball is the cost. You can get 10,000 Airsoft BBs for 15 bucks. While paintball markers can be hundreds of dollars for 10,000 rounds. You also have to clean your equipment every time you go out to play paintball. There’s also the fact that airsoft does not hurt as much as paintball so it’s easier for kids or people that are knew to the spot to get into it.
    Airsoft guns are also more accurate. Airsoft guns now have flat hop buckings and tight bore inner barrels.
    My third reason is that Airsoft now has speedQB which if you don’t know, it’s basically speedball.
    My fourth reason is the diversity in airsoft. You can be a Milsom person that likes long, realistic games or you can be a spead softer and have faster pace more competitive games. There is also a lot more choices in guns you can choose. For example, you can have a sniper, pistol, AR, SMG, LMG, and more. You can also have gas blowback guns, HPA guns, and AEG’s.
    I also think the argument that the people community is more tightly knit and Air Soft community is a bias statement. I say this because the community depends on what field you go to and energy that you put out. You can have a totally bad experience at this one day but then go back the next day to the same Field and have a way better experience. It all depends on how you see it and the people you choose to play with
    The advantage that paintball has is there a ranking system.
    Love the video. Thanks for all the hard work.

I look at the airsoft side and there's more videos out there going in detail with gear and things.

    Personally, I disagree. I am fine with paintball, I love both sports, but with these points, I disagree.
    1. Nope, people do bat an eye when they get scammed in airsoft. Gear in airsoft is very expensive. People are killed because of scams and oversells. We care too, trust me.
    2. We have tournament ranks in airsoft too. You either play a casual, close to unranked matches in video games. Or you can do tournaments. Tournaments are heavily monitored and ranked, cheating can get you banned from almost every field.
    3. We have pro media players too. Airsoft is televised elsewhere and there's tons on social media. Not just TH-cam, but almost any platform. Twitch I believe has airsoft. (I think).
    As a final note: I love both sports. I play primarily airsoft but from time to time I play paintball as well. Both games have pros and cons, ups and downs, and both hurt sometimes. You had some good points, but they had easy solutions. Good video, that's a sub!

    You forgot to mention that paintball costs more in the long run because of how expensive the paint is compared to the bb's yes airsoft can be very expensive at first but after you buy your gear the bb's cost nothing. Also in airsoft you can use tracer bb's making it very easy to see where the bb's are going and who's hit because of how bright it shines when it hits them. Airsoft can be pretty competitive but not to the point where there's pro players.

    in my opinion, airsoft is no different. this video is mainly based on perspective when the speakers likely lack knowledge on the sport of airsoft. I am a frequent airsoft player and I can ensure you where I play it's literally no different referring to the points made in this video against airsoft. Most airsofters play because of the realism of the sport. What I'm trying to get at is there's no point in comparing the two because they're different sports and even though I said they possess lots of the same things they still are two different sports that offer different things and I don't understand the point of making a video trying to claim one as "better" Thank you

    Paintball isn’t better than airsoft, but airsoft isn’t better either. They are 2 different sports and it really depends on what people enjoy. Airsoft is often more customizable, and more realistic. Airsoft is made as a war game, while paintball is made as a hardcore nerf game in a way. Paintball is made as a sport. Its like ballgames, they take lots of skill and athleticism, but are made in a way people will want to watch. Airsoft on the other hand is generally more slower paced and endurance based (other than CQB). In paintball you see tournaments of lots of short fast paced games. In airsoft on the other hand the games are normally longer, and instead of tournaments we have milsims (military simulation games, which can last anywhere from a day to a week) and the pace of the game is based on where you are, the game-mode, how the other players are playing, and your play style. While there are successful airsoft videos and videographers like novrich, jet desert fox, and house gamer airsoft. It’s generally not made to be watched. In paintball every moment is filmed and shown, in airsoft on the other hand, out of hours of playing there might only be half and hour of video worth showing. I. The end which one is better is more a mater of opinion. While there are some facts involved, like airsoft being more realistic, or how paintball has better ways to stop cheating, it dose mostly come down to how people want to play and watch.

    We have CQB, Field, Operations, And Backyard airsoft. Paintball their is one, maybe two kinds of fields.

    You make some good points. Been playing Airsoft for 7 years, never played Paintball even though there are good paintball and Airsoft sites near to me, but the one thing that has put me off trying out Paintball is the cost of ammo. Paintball has to be better for competitive games, although my concern is only having fun and I'm sure I would have a great time playing either Airsoft or Paintball.

    I enjoy playing paintball, mainly speedball, because it is unlike any other sport/activity. The gun is unlike a real gun, however it is just as customizable and enjoyable to shoot. Every part of your gear allows for high customizability, and their is such a wide range of products and styles, anyone considering the sport is bound to find something they truly enjoy using. The sport requires team tactics, personal finesse, and reactionary thinking. Besides that, it is a very athletically demanding sport for those who want to make it more intensive, and for those who may not be the most athletic, they can still enjoy the sport just as much at their own pace. This allows for a range of versatility among styles of play, and allows a wide range of age groups to be competitive among each other. What other sport can you think of where a team of 5 people with ages from 12, 16, 21, 35, 40, can all be playing on the same team at the same competitive level?

    I’ve played airsoft for quite a few years, and I feel most of the points made in this video would be valid if it weren’t for the fact that “competitive” airsoft isn’t really that huge. Just look at the views and video saturation of “airsoft tournament” vs “milsim” or “sniping” its a massive gap. Airsoft is marketed mostly as a military simulation (although it will never be truly accurate mad respect to those who serve) and I’ve read a lot of the comments basically saying the same thing. If you live in Cali you probably think competitive airsoft is huge. Go basically anywhere else and it’s non existent. Also the whole “the average airsoft player is 12-16” is definitively not true. Like at all. Maybe in the us it might be, but literally anywhere else in the world it’s probably 18+. I’ve been to every field in my state and it’s 80% people in their 20s.
    That’s my little opinion thanks for reading.

    Actually in airsoft we have a tournament play style called “speedsoft” or “speedqb” which is very similar to paintball its mostly popular on the west coast, the california area and it involves a 5v5 match that has a similar layout to speedball fields (can, dorito, snake etc.) but instead of pressing the buzzer 1 person from each team is given the task to rush to the flag in the beginning break off of the round to the collect the flag they must take back to the opposite side of theirs. Also to “counter” the problem of people not calling their hits most players use flashlights and or tracer units to track where their rounds are going. As a speedqb player idk why we still have this kind of beef with paintball players but i do highly respect the sport and love both

    I agree with alot of this but I'd argue that they're mostly based on the maturity of the sport. Airsoft is maturing into speedQB while still keeping milsim and woods ball very much alive. As far as the community sticking up for each other that's a real up that paintball has. How ever in tournament play airsoft will most likely always be on smaller more fast paced fields simply because of the paint vs BB marking system.

    I disagree with everything almost. Look at my channel and my team leaders channel: the lone wolf airsoft. Our guns don't look real it has a fucking hose out the bottom. And there are tournaments for airsoft it's called speedqb. And people in airsoft also record with professional equipment. Another thing... Yes it's an honor based game which makes it better because you build trust with your team and I a tournament situation you get caught cheating then it is a massive penalty. Feel free to reply and say "Your fucking gay, airsoft is for dumb kids that want to be a soldier." But I love the fast pace of speedsoft and it involves a lot more movement than speed ball. In speed ball all it seems you do is shoot and hope he pops his head out. Again I'm willing to debate what ever you say. Oh and also the customability of airsoft is beyond imaginable.

    I play both airsoft and paintball. (speedqb and milsim)/ (rec ball woods ball and speedball) i do agree that paintball is better in a tournament sense. but there is a lot of tit for tat when it comes to these reasons. all reasons are valid but airsoft has the same points as paintball but not in the exact same way. paintball is crazy athletic and so is airsoft, but paintball (tournament) is more like a sprint running and airsoft is more like endurance running. hard to compare but both take lots of athleticism to play as well as technique and skill. on the point of bst i cant talk much for either since i buy in person. but both have its scammers same as in every community. the photog and dedicated film people. airsoft has it too. maybe not to the same degree since paintball is more regarded as a sport and airsoft is regarded more as a hobby(to the normal person). there are lots of media sources for both. but they are composed in their own ways. on the topic of projectile i will say paintball is better in the marking aspect but the price of paint makes airsoft more appealing and thats a big deference between the two 5,000 bb= $20-25/ 2000 paintballs $35+. its hard to compare paintball and airsoft unless your comparing the same style of play. its like comparing golf to football. its really hard to do. speedqb and speedball are comparable, woodsball and milsim are too but its hard to compare tournament play and rec airsoft or mil-sim. I love both, ive played both for years and refereed both as well and they are way different and they both have different things that make them unique and thats why theyre both fun. both communities are amazing and they share a great sense of comradery that no other sport shares, at the end of the day it all comes down to preference.
    we should join together and fight the real enemy. NERF

    as an airsofter who plays speedsoft, (a type of airsoft game that is nearly identical to tournament styled paintball) i like seeing that all of these fun and athletic traits of paintball are coming over to airsoft and we might even end up getting our own ways to stream speedsoft and just to have a similar platform that tournament styled paintball does. even though i strictly play airsoft, i have no problem with paintball players.

    2:50 you are talking about tournement right there and what ranking system? you cant go play because ppl playing rn are not in your divison? Its not every field that say yes to kid some times its more strit yes some times you just go and beat kid but its less competitive paintball game look like call of duty black ops 3 running every where ans stuf like that we both have sport wich are not the same at all
    Airsoft is yes less running around but you still have to carry heavy stuf
    Paintball is not a so physically yes you run but you only run 5 meters then stop then run another one that it

    Side note, I do wish that there was some ranking system or gameplay organization. I hate when my team is made up of a 10 year old kid who has never even shot a nerf gun, 3 teenage speedsofters that think we are playing paintball, 3, 40 year old ex military milsim guys and a dude renting a gun who doesn’t even leave the respawn because he’s too scared to get hit.. at least if it was divided up by age everyone would have a better time. P.S. kids 14 and younger never call their hits

    SO by my name you can tell i obviously play airsoft. but i didn't stick to airsoft, just because i play it more. yes i played paint ball more, and yes it was a lot of fun, but airsoft and paint ball have a difrent feel. when your on a big map in airsoft, and flank the whole enimie team and end up killing most of them, theirs just something about that that is so satisfying and u cant find else where. but also in paint ball the feeling of lineing up with ur guns pointed down, and the sound of the wistle blowing and u sprinting to where ever ur going, and calling out the enimes is also something like nothing else. I will say paint ball is really fun because of the team work, but airsoft is also fun because u can play it how u want to, for example i play as a "speed softer" (which is coppied from speed ball in paintball) and its a fast paced style of play. and yes paint ball had woods ball for those who like military simulation. i think that both are really fun, and if u havnt tried out both u have no room to be talking.

    1. Tournament level airsoft is not a thing, except for speedqb, which is paintball with cooler guns and smaller ammunition.
    2. Idk what pages you are talking about. Word of scamming is spread far and wide.
    3. Airsoft is not a tournament style platform, so there is no need for ranking, and i prefer it like that.
    4. So we will say the top 20 out of all paintballers make a living off it. Given there are 3.4 million paintballers in the us, and there is no actual data on the number of airsofters, i would say 1 million is a generous figure, and i would say there are probably 8-9 people who make their living off it. Given that, its a pretty comparable number.
    5. "moar athleticism" jesus christ that is bullshit. Speedqb is essentially run the same as tourny paintball, so there is similar movement there, and as for the milsim scene, i recently went to a 52 hour consecutive op, friday through sunday nonstop. That is taxing physically, we were cold, wet, tired, hungry, and while we were not constantly running at mach 5 for ten minutes, it is still really goddamn taxing. And thats with about 25-30 lbs of gear.
    6. At most large milsim ops, there are easily 10-15 people there for strictly media purposes.
    7. Why was there over a minute of b roll of a tournament with music and no commentary from 7:05 to 8:20

    I can see the argument you are making, personally I play airsoft. If you are comparing competitive airsoft to competitive paintball, the competitive paintball is so much better. But it in ever other corner i think airsoft has the floor. Some of your points were in valid, like airsoft players don’t invest in film witch is in correct. th-cam.com/video/GxrYyZPclcA/w-d-xo.html
    That is a loadout video and is beauty fully filmed. Airsoft has the lead over paintball in regular pick up games and milsim , does paintball have tanks and military trucks with 36 hour games? (Milsim West and Russian milsim) overall they are two different sports and both have their advantages.( sorry for ranting i just wanted to share my opinion)

    The best thing ive seen before with both airsoft and paintball players is that at times ive seen both sports making fun of each other saying who is better but i saw one paintball video that a kid was making fun of paintball telling the youtuber that he need to play a "real sport" like football or basketball and both airsofters and paintballers defended the channel. I remember one airsoft player told the kid that only paintballer and airsofter players can make fun and pick on each other but people in other sports should interfere with the sport and that right there earned my respect with both airsofters and paintballers
