In this matter, focusing only on Chinese origin Canadians would be an error. This kind of political influencing has been a common tactic even for many of white officials and diplomats. For example, from 70s, Japan has increased their political influence in US by sponsoring, paying, brainwashing many of western students to be pro-Japanese, so many of them became and become government officials, diplomats, political researchers, etc. This is very common type of tactic used by many others. So, in case of Chinese influence, gouvernement needs not only to protect and ensure freedom of political expression of those targeted people. But also they may need to examine more deeply their own organization to see why this issue has been hidden for so long.

Very interesting conversation. It didn't really ping on me that it was a bad as this. It is, I think, time to raise the general awareness os how much pressure is being put onto our refuge neighbours. Canada isn't the safe place we imagined it to be and that awareness has to be raised.
