I don't understand people who didn't see the ending coming. When she goes to the cabin, she talks to Joel on the phone and his last lines before they end the conversation is "I'm coming". That was when I knew how the movie would end. She's going to a cabin in the middle of nowhere to be alone so that no one can witness her die, MEANWHILE WE KNOW THAT HER LOVE INTEREST JUST SAID HE'S COMING TO SEE HER. Now we've already had ONE sequence that was entirely just a dream, so when that scene at the cabin plays where the defeats the big bad monster fella I'm thinking the entire time "This is just another dream sequence, why did this dumbass tell the guy with a huge crush on her where she was going?".
Dont worry your not the only one, as soon as she went to the cabin, I knew exactly how the movie would end. What would have surprised me is if she killed herself before the ex got there.
The one thing that always puts me off of these kinds of shows or movies where people are made to look crazy after strange things happen is that the perfectly sane person ALWAYS acts insane.... Similar to what you said, why is she acting crazy? Like don't be hysterical, use your words and explain... don't sit there and repeat "you don't understand, you don't understand".... like all these other characters always do....
My brother and I don't even like each other but if he was screaming for help because he thought something was chasing him I would be to his side in a second to make sure he was either fine or getting the help he needs. The scene where the dead cat was in the box and the sister didn't come check on her to comfort her is super frustrating.
I think the jump-scare scene showed at 15:33 looks great and could have made an interesting movie on its own. A monster that distorts and stretches its victims into horrible abominations. King of like The Thing. Shame this is pretty much the only time the movie leans into body horror like this.
I feel like a big chunk of the movie got lost in translation, where it was supposed to be this big intelligent piece of how mental health can trick those suffering from it, into alienating themselves from friends and family. As pointed out in this movie by the halfway point she has sabotaged the relationship with, her job and coworkers, her sister, and her fiancé. Also the deamon only targets those who have some form of unresolved trauma, the therapist watched her mother die, the student and her grandfather and lastly the professor and his brother. In other words instead of running off to deal with her trauma on her own if she asked for help dealing with the death of her mother she might have beaten the monster.
no one kill me, i tried watching It Follows 3 different times, fell to sleep all 3 times. i understood the concept, essentially it's a literal walking STI and i guess my brain registered that as, "we dont do the do enough for this psa about safe adult hugs" boom lights out shortly after the first act. then boom again as the last of the credits rolling. only horror film ive ever fell to sleep on

I liked it. It reminded me too much of It Follows, but if I had to choose which creature I would rather deal with, it would be the one from It Follows.
I'll be honest, this movie was a modern horror movie that truly scared me. like I watched it with my mom, ( we both have always watched horror movies together) and I actually got the heebie-jeebies while lying in bed, trying to get to sleep that night. As an avid horror fan, that hasn't happened to me in years.The movie obviously has issues, but the demon is TERRIFYING. I mean....yikes.
I thought the ending was gonna be that she overcomes her trauma/issues, and the thing tries one last hail-mary attempt to get hold of her and she defeats it. But nope. GOTTA have a twist/sad ending. No matter what, and a big monster lol The scary twist could have be even if YOU beat it, it can pass without her and it infects others or that it isn't the only demon (ya know, since it's partly a mental illness metaphor, it's just like how we all suffer from similar issues but our demons are our own?) Idk. It's not like I'm upset about sad/bad endings but in current horror trope fashion she needed to lose to it.

You guys have to remember Rose hadn't been getting enough sleep they stated this enough times. This can lead to hallucinations and since she was the witness to her mother overdosing and not calling for help that guilt built over years. So think both added up then think more fucking up by having a patient just kill herself right in front of you with a dear God help me scary ass creeper smile on her face. That had to be haunting for her. All that would feed this entity cause it feeds off trauma stated in movie. So yeah this movie played pretty well keeping you on edge however some actors could of used a bit of practice before hand on acting on certain things.

Nah nah nah. I’ll watch this review after I’ve gotten over the trauma of watching the movie just a couple days ago with a friend. The only comedy in it was me and my friend’s knack of poking fun at the movie so it wouldn’t be so scary. But this movie, this movie had us silenced and too freaked out. My anxiety was through the roof. I love horror movies but this one really hit me 😂. I’m only surprised i didn’t have nightmares.

Alteori may I ask what it is about animal deaths that get to you so much, I mean as a pet owner I dislike pet deaths, but my mind compartmentalizes the difference between real and movie deaths so any death in a movie doesn't have the same effect on me vs a live death
I've always cried over them or been sad but I think it got worse after I had to put my baby girl to sleep.
Somewhat I enjoy the movie, but if I was expecting to be scared, and that didn’t happen and there were some moments in the movie that would just make me, I just rather explain. your nephew pulled out a dead cat from a box and at that moment, I think she should’ve left I know entity was right there staying in there, and trying to explain that an entity did this doesn’t really help the situation for Everyone else that’s standing in the room that can’t see really makes you look even worse at the end of the day I know you see entity right in front of you, but just leave it you’re not making it good for yourself.

Well yes could you really convince people that you didn’t put your dead cat inside of a box which they would think you killed because you can’t explain that you put it inside of the box because there is no hard evidence to prove that you didn’t do that. Standing there and saying I’m not crazy or yelling at the entity really doesn’t de-escalate the situation. ask yourself would you really want to stay in a room holding dead animal and try to explain something you don’t understand or something that can’t be believed by other people nor be seen by other people, but you and trying to lie is out the window
@@blackprism5381 I'm saying the main character was clearly having a mental breakdown (remember they have been getting barely any sleep, have witnissed a sui$ide, and are being haunted by a malevolent entity) and to expect that they have any logical reaction is a bit silly. In this situation the chick is screwed no matter what she does anyway (if she leaves everyone thinks she killed the cat and believs she's either crazy or downright evil. At least by staying it gives people reason to beleive that she isn't a bad person but clearly in need of psychological help.)
@@hex9077 yeah I can see that reason but really don’t know what’s going through those peoples heads or somewant to be willing to help her in the situation, but some are thinking she’s too dangerous to crazy even when when she’s saying she didn’t do it the situation is really hard and many outcomes could happen and many possibilities

Personally I don’t like how you kept getting on the protagonist for dealing with something supernatural that you logically would not be able to deal with but other than that this was a good review.
