      Now is black folks never called him that mess(always TP, Teddy or Teddy P Teddy Bear), but his manager Shep Gordon used that name/reference for Teddy because he would sell out every show and every thing he put on wax went platinum. Here’s a clip from Shep’s documentary speaking on Teddy’s success as well as downfall…th-cam.com/video/thZBDL0l6jI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NAl7cIEVV5HAGYap

    Teddy was the greatest singer ever. The power and passion in his voice was marvellous. That horrific car crash in 1982 ruined his career he was never the same singer after that, all the power had gone. His voice when he was with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes was amazing and he continued with his solo career. He was just on the verge of superstardom when it was all taken away from him. I am one of the lucky ones who saw him live in 1973 with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and in 1982 a few months before that horrible car crash doing his solo tour. Singing live his voice sounded just like the Albums, those were two occasions in my life that I treasure.

      As much as i love and still play R Kelly, Barry White, , Keith Sweat White, Frankie Beverly, Otis Redding Mary j Blige, Aretha Franklin Gay, and Sade, James Brown, AL Green, Otis Redding, Anita Baker, my list of the greatest singers could go on and on into many i didn't mention, but could have easily also added them to my list of who's the greatest of all times No disrespect intended to them for not being on my list of being one of the greatest singers. In my belief and opinion only Teddy Pendergrass is (one)of the greatest singers, but the greatest of all, i have my own doubts, feelings and disbelief on that. I forgot to mention that some of these great singers could sing and perform too, meaning they're could also sing, dance and perform too.

    • @anthonyharty1732
      @anthonyharty1732 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesbrown3509 Yes, there are many great singer’s out there but I think Teddy’s voice was special. He could sing mellow then ratchet it up notches. Listen to the full Album version of the Wake Up Everybody track, you will see what I mean, he even double tracked his voice, there were no Blue Notes singing on that track. About three minutes in the full power of his voice is heard right until the end. He sings loud and powerful followed by a bit of softer singing in the next line, it’s clever the way he does it. Donny Hathaway is my other favourite singer just behind Teddy.

      THAT YOUR OPINION!!! BUT THE. FACTS?ARE THERE ARE MANY FOLKS THAT CAN SING GREAT!!!! LUTHER VANDROSS ONE OF A KIND, STEVIE WONDER ONE OF A KIND, MICHAEL JACKSON, DAVID RUFFIN, EDDIE KENDRICKS, DENNIS EDWARDS, DONNY HATHAWAY, EMANUEL E.J. JOHNSON OF ENCHANTMENT, REGINALD THOMAS OF THE POSSE EDDIE KENDRICKS GROUP, LEVI STUBBS, LEVERTS, EL DEBARGE, MICAH STAMPLEY, JOE THOMAS, " JOE", TERRY FORSYTHE, MANY OTHERS MARVIN SAPP!!!! BROTHER WE GOT SOME BAD BROTHERS & SISTERS!!! MANY DIDN'T MAKE IT. TOO MANY OTHERS IN THE MARKET THAT WOULD PUSH THEM ASIDE. JUST LIKE BRUNO MARS!!! BIG MONEY BEHIND HIM!!!! HAD TO MOVE PRINCE, MICHEAL, USHER, OUT THE WAY!!! CHRIS BROWN. ITS LIKE BOXING YOU HAVE TO THROW A FEW FIGHTS TO WIN SOME MONEY!!!. IT'S THE GAME.

      My feelings and beliefs on the fact that when it comes to who's the greatest singers of all singers is still endless and unaccountable, especially when it's a matter of opinion on who you like better than the other or at all. So im going to say as much as i like Teddy Pendergrass in my world, he's still one of the greatest singers like so manyothers past and present. At my age of almost 68 i could put alot of singers ahead of Teddy who's just as good, or right there at the top with him. I've just name one who's voice and singing was also exceptional, Luther Vandross. Hell, i could add some white singers to that list of the greatest singers in history. I'll just name 2 who's music i still listen to and like, Stevie Nicks and Elton John etc. I'm going to say the hell with your opinion on Teddy Pendergrass 🧸 out classing any of those or vice-versa that i mentioned or those i didn't. Neither of these singers i have in mind past present, present, living or dead, stands at the top alone, or ahead of anybody when it's comes to who's the greatest of all times, like i said, the list on that is endless and that depend on who you like and don't. Hell, as much as i like Muhammad, Ali, i still don't believe he's the greatest of all boxers, but that's a subject for another day. We're done on the (🧸) Teddy Pendergrass. Enjoy your day.

      @@jamesbrown3509 I agree with what you say BUT Elton John? 😂🤣😂🤣😂 His voice is bland great writer and keyboard player but that’s it. He even worked with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, wrote Philadelphia Freedom and did an album with them. Guess what, he did a rip off Lou Rawls tried to sound like him. I think his voice is way down the bottom of any list. It’s all about opinion but I know a good singer when I hear one. Frank Sinatra just talked had no range in his voice, Elvis was good in his younger days but was nothing special as he got older, no range again. Even he copied the voice of a black singer, his name was Otis Blackwell. Christopher Cross, Michael McDonald, Art Garfunkel, Karen Carpenter all had excellent voices, they are white. There are also lead singers who never got recognised on there own, Russel Thompkins Jr of the Stylistics, Howard Hewett of Shalamar, Gerald Alston of The Manhattans, The Scott brother’s of The Whispers, Philippe Wynne of The Spinners to name a few. Another fantastic singer on his own is Glenn Jones he’s still alive today and touring but at his peak never got the publicity to make him a recognised name. Only the people who know music knows who he is. Teddy in my opinion and it’s an opinion before that car crash was the number one, every time I played him to people EVERYONE of them said he had a marvellous voice. It’s all about opinions.
