    Of the many Lionel gifts I received as a kid, I thought the Lionelville Trolley, hand car (speeder), and Fire Fighting cars were up there with the best! They were entertaining and colorful!

      There is something fun maybe even whimsical about these units and they are just classics!

      @@dagryffynhobby one of my favorite pictures from the old catalogs is a 60 Trolley coming up to a Lionel bumper with a 6557 smoking caboose on an adjacent track!

    Brave man. I’d take it apart and end up with leftover parts. LOL. I need to get past that part of worrying about being afraid to screw up. Well done my friend. Take it easy over the holiday weekend.

      Understandable, but you have to mess up a few just to be ok with it. Start with something cheap and build that confidence! And left over parts are ok as long as everything still works!

      Someone said they saw the ball bearing fall out and roll away when I took the brush plate off. I’ll have to watch it for that and see if I can find it. Or I’ll order a new one.

    Another great video Dave and also very informative! I have one of those books too that shows the exploded diagrams and I say it is a absolute life saver when taking apart this stuff. Also helps when you're ordering parts for a locomotive. Would love to pick up one of those someday but Lionel's motorized units are quite very cute and add simple action to a layout. I also just love taking stuff apart and getting my hands all dirty and I thought I was the only one using a screwdriver to scrape stuff away! LOL

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!! The book has saved me multiple times. I do most of my work with the pocket screwdriver! It’s just so handy and just the right size to work on the trains.

    Nice trolley! If I hadn't already finalized my track plan, I would've added a tram line down my main street so I could run one of these!

    Well done... I think you were right to leave the pole off as there is definitely something missing...is there a parts break down in your Greenberg guide? Thanks. T4

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I studied the diagram but couldn’t find anything. Upon further inspection of the frame, there may be a piece missing from that, there is a spot just below the pole that is shinny instead of black, I’m thinking the required part broke off. I would need to get another trolley to verify that.

    Looks to be a really nice trolly, runs nice after your maintenance. Are you going to add a trolly line to the layout or just run it from time to time on the main lines? It would look cool if you had an elvated trolly line that went from mountain to to mountain.

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The plan is for a dedicated point to point trolley line, I just don’t have any idea where I’m going to fit it in!

    Dave, what you called the "antenna" is actually the trolley pole.
