I've been a vegetarian for decades. At one point, I converted to veganism, and joined a Vegan FB group for support. In that week, there was a plane crash, and someone commented something along the lines of "good riddance to meat eaters". It upset me so much I went out and bought an egg sandwich. Never looked back. I'm not playing for that team.

Even when in the same comment I specified that I had no problem with vegans in general, it’s just that 1 specific type of vegan I hate because they are honestly horrible people. Honestly considering some of the things I’ve experienced from my interactions with the vegan community, a good chunk of it is very toxic and this even happening seems entirely plausible.

Tbf, I'm not vegan, vegetarian, or on any specific diet, but I'd almost always choose the life of a pet over a stranger. Humans make decisions that end us up in situations. Pets have to deal with those decisions, meaning if they're in danger, it's usually our own fault.
Now as for wild animals, it genuinely depends on what it is, but I'd generally rather save the person.
It doesn't make me sick if someone would prefer to save the animal, it makes me sick if the person truly considers any animal life more valuable than any human life, when we are animals ourselves.
There's a big difference between saving YOUR pet over a stranger, and just saving A pet over a stranger, your own pet should obviously elicit more of a connection and emotional response, but to just save another pet over a stranger is ridiculous. Imagine saving a families pet but letting their daughter die. I'm sure they would understand your logic right?

I can't speak for the other person. But in my experience very little of the animal cant actually be used for something. I believe killing animals to survive is perfectly fine. That's the literal circle of life. Killing an animals and wasting it is morally and logically wrong. If you didn't plan on Harvesting the animal why are you killing it? For fun? As much as I don't agree with the point of "people are inherently evil" for any given reason, I HAVE seen this argument being given outside of vegan circles before. The best example that I have seen first hand is Christianity and the concept of "Original Sin".
I remember watching a video about how VeganGains got a wolfdog and decided to only feed it rice and beans. It was starving to death before people called some animal protective services and got the poor pup took away. I will never forget that. it's been quite awhile since i heard that, yet i remember it almost perfectly. Wish i could have punched him out then.

@@921Ether I know there are some slaughterhouses that keep the animals caged up and miserable, and there are other that put animals in a poor environment. However I believe there are some places that put animals in a good place to grow and be hot and such, only putting them down when the time is right. But if you could explain to me how the process actually is it would help a lot.
