Good vid, bud. I'm 46 and not had a BMX since 21. My dream is to transition a spine ramp and when I nail it I can die a happy man. Now to get drunk enough to buy a BMX that far outweighs my capabilities.
I'm a little older than u , and I've just bought one last year ish and taken it to skatepark , buy a new school cheap locally from gumtree or craigslist ,pad up and have a go , you wont regret it
I just sent it 30 yrs old and it was so easy and felt so good but I was so scared the first time 😅 I literally laughed when I landed ... Bmx is commitment 90% I feel
It’s the same concept really. Just make sure you keep the nose down a little bit so you know you won’t loop out. Maybe try to whip the bike sideways like in the end of the video if you need to
I can go over the spine at my skate park, but I don’t know how to air up a little bit. I think I keep hitting my sprocket or something. Wait, can you go at the spine at a slight angle to give your sprocket more room to clear as you go over?
Great Video! I'm an old guy, 35, as well as large. I'm 6.5 280. I've been trying to get back into BMX. I went to a skate park this weekend and it was extremely intimidating. It was a small park with narrow ramps. Where is this park located? The box jump looks like good practice.
Thank you. Thats so awesome you're trying to get back into it. Keep at it!! This park is in Wooster, Ohio. If you ever make the trip to it, make sure you hit me up so I can try to meet up.
That's awesome! I'm in Cleveland. I was working on a new building near Smithville recently. I would've brought my bike. Definitely going to check this place out and I will definitely hit you up. Great Videos on the channel!!
Oh sick, didn't realize you were in Ohio. Yea smithville is only like 10/15 minutes from the park. Let me know man, its less than 10 minutes from home for me. Also, thank you! Trying to have fun and teach people as much as possible.
Hey so, I ride both bmx and scooters. I've learnt many things on scooters even the spine and I can drop in on bmx too. However with the spine at our park it is taller than the box. Scooter wise I know I can ride up and rock it but bmx the scary part is the drop back in as I don't wanna die. Was wondering if their is any tip for a higher spine learn (5ft)
At my local I love to teach others the basics as from riding for a year I've learnt that its not that you can't physically do it, its that you gotta get that mental trust in yourself. Right now I don't trust myself on my bmx as its small and I ride a 15 tooth rear spinal atm but with these tips I wanna send it
Landing the other side of a spine is kind of like dropping in from a rolling start on a quarterpipe with how you hop and nose into it to land smooth. So you can imagine getting into the air, then doing that.
First time I hit a spine when I was a kid, the spine was 8' tall going into a half pipe. I over shot the other side and landed square in the middle of the halfpipe, which bent my bars. Spines are tricky to learn at first lol
I was trying to do a 5 foot steep spine as my first spine. But I can jump a 5 foot quarter equally as the spine and air out of the box with my bike but thanks a lot
I Crashed very hard on like a 10 ft spine basically the first spine I've really hit and my friend told me to turn my bars while going over it so I don't go as far and I land smooth but instead I overju8mped it and landed with my bars sideways and went over the bars
It’s still a similar concept but if you can find a smaller one it would be better. Sometimes you have to learn on something bigger though. You got it!!
Honestly I've been riding for over 15 years now and I still hate jumping spines. They've always scare me no matter what. I think I've jumped a spine maybe 3 times total the entire time I've been riding.
It's just scary once you're full used to the motion. I remember I hit the spine in this video my first time at the skatepark and maybe a bit more but then went over a year or so with just avoiding it entirely
@@Brant_Moore I wish my local park had a smaller spine to mess around on. We have a 6ft street spine that's super steep. I jumped it twice. 1st time I landed flat as can be and the 2nd I cased and almost went otb lol. Haven't jumped a spine since lol.
Accidentally taught myself i was having a whole conversation w my friends dropped in without looking jumped a spine and somehow landed without crashing carrying enough momentum to fly out
So as an old fart, what's holding me back is not knowing how to get the nose back down. I can jump out of quarters onto flat, like was said and demonstrated in the video, but it seems to me that the secret is being able to get the nose back down, so that you're pretty much touching down both wheels at the same time on the other side. I didn't really catch how to achieve this in your video. I'm worried that I'll jump the spine, then land flat on the bottom of it 3 feet down... and thats a long way for my old knees, back etc... I might buy a sprocket guard and try crashing over slowly to start.
It’s all in controlling your bike and hit pushing the front end down. The control comes with riding more and more. If you can somewhat nose down while doing a flyout, you’re ready.
@Brant_Moore Thanks; gave it a go this morning; not quite going off the spine proper, but just next to it where it tapers down a bit. Got that pretty sorted. Couple of times when I ventured over the full spine I landed a bit long but I think that’ll improve with time.
ok so i just can't get the balls to do it. so i think i will run up it and stand on top, then ride up it and stand on top. drop in. I am Honestly scared of looping out.
All the spines near my house are way bigger than that one, but i did it anyways and I went up the spine and flew over the tranny that was on the otherside and nose dived and landed on my face.
Rode my fist spine yesterday. Definitely easier than I thought.
It always is, but it means that you can do them any where and any time you want now!
No BS, super straightforward which all equates to a new sub!
Hell yea man thats the only way you'll get it from me!
Thank you! Happy to have you here.
I did the spine finally it was easier than I thought I fell on the first go
Awesome!! Now you can get it dialed and do it all the time!
The spine at my local park is steep and sketchy
ion even have a local park 😖😭
Same
Lace Kenyon?
..ha !! ..same/otaki beach skatepark ..never ever seen as anyone crack it !!
I overjumped purposely my 1st time cause it felt safer to me but this one had steeper faces. Confidence and commitment.
I've seen quite a few people popping up with those type of bars, is there an advantage to that style?
They help with Candybars, saran wraps, and tricks like that. Other than that they're just normal bars with a different crossbar
Video helped a lot hit the spine today good job guys
So good to hear!!! Good stuff!!
Yeah thanks
Anyone else get an adrenaline just watching it
Next time I’m at the skate park I trying the spine the way you said
i moved and there is a spine ramp there. Ramps all metal, i am heading down there for the first time soon. So excited.
Hope it’s awesome man!!!
Thanks Bro
THANKs man it really helps, all about the confidence
You got it!! Confidence is key
I pop on my headphones and helmet then i go for it
Nice video! can you do a how to ride differents ramps (transfers, air, etc)
the spine at my local skatepark is a lot taller than me and is almost verticle so that sucks.
Good vid, bud. I'm 46 and not had a BMX since 21. My dream is to transition a spine ramp and when I nail it I can die a happy man. Now to get drunk enough to buy a BMX that far outweighs my capabilities.
You’ll get it for sure man! I have faith!

howd ya go?
"We're gonna pause this video because somebody new showed up, and I wanna ride with them" is the coolest vibe, man
Thanks man great stuff
I was excited for this video. Then I saw the spine. My local park doesn't have a spine this mellow.
I just sent it 30 yrs old and it was so easy and felt so good but I was so scared the first time 😅 I literally laughed when I landed ... Bmx is commitment 90% I feel
Haha isn’t that great? Laughing because of how big of deal it is in your head then once it’s over it’s not a big deal at all
@@Brant_Moore exactly
Great idea man! Riding tips are just as golden as mechanical tips!
Thank you! Really hoping they are useful to some
@Brant_Moore I have no doubt it'll help someone. 👍
That's great to hear. Thank you
@Brant_Moore You're welcome.
Thanks for the tips!! Subbed!❤
Thank you!!
Great vid man. Just , how would I jump a much larger spine maybe 2 and a half times bigger than this I think?
It’s the same concept really. Just make sure you keep the nose down a little bit so you know you won’t loop out.
Maybe try to whip the bike sideways like in the end of the video if you need to
@Brant_Moore Cheers
Yee! Thanks! Haven't hit the spine yet but I don't think it's that hard. I gotta try it first lol
You got it!!! Let me know how it goes too!
I jumped a spine and i was super scared because it was my first time but after the first try i was so excited to try again
Did my first spine last Saturday its so much fun
Good video that, very helpful, cheers
Thank you and thank you for being here to watch it!

To go higher. You have to pull back. But I don’t recommend it until you’re comfortable jumping it
Great vid
Thank you!!

Thanks
Happy to help!
Hey dude the my park is like 5 feet.is it the same
The spine iz
Yes except for just riding over it. Its a little more risky to try to just ride over a 5 foot spine
Thanks bros

@@Brant_Moore if i go a decent speed and roll up without pulling bars towards me will i roll out of it without looping out?
Depends on how big it is

When they are 8’
@@v4riab1lity77 yeah but we grew up with the motto, go big or go home. I landed it correctly the second try after I got new bars.
bro what are ur handle bars
❤️those Bars

Can you please make a video of 180
Maybe one day!
nice!
I learned using the disaster method and then progressively going faster and faster
My local has like a 4 ft tall spine but it is steep AF it is as steep as the quarter pipe there because it is the 2nd side of the half pipe
Where is this skatepark?
What is the intro song called?
I only have a 7 foot spine at my skatepark :(
Top.
Been riding for quite a while now and never jumped a spine xD I'll try it tomorrow xD
Haha awesome! Come back and let me know how it goes for you!
@Brant_Moore guess it didn't go great
Haha It might have and they just forgot!
How am I supposed to roll over 5.5” ft tall spine
I would double peg stall on the spine and then bunny hop to the other side
That's a fun one!
ima try next time i go

the spine at the park near me is so much more steep and coping is thicker
It’s still a similar concept but if you can find a smaller one it would be better. Sometimes you have to learn on something bigger though. You got it!!
I would jump from the spine to the top of the box
Not a bad idea!
Didn't think of that while we made this one
Them bars 😂
Just learned to pull my front tire up 3 cms I think I'm ready to back flip
I think we found Logan Martins twin long lost unknown brother, cream beach pants yo.
Hahahaha Oh my gosh you’re right!!!!
i rode the spine today three times and i went to far
My spine at my local park is 4 1/2 feet tall
Wtf happened to ur bars at 0:00
if it works ill sub
Oh it works! Whether or not you make it happen is up to you!

Moto whip should be a prerequisite.
im trying to hit the spine in my local skatepark but its made out of concrete and its 8ft tall
What if the only spine in your city had a 5 foot quarter to a 7 foot quarter?
That sounds like a scary first spine. I might look up skateparks in the surrounding area to find a better first step
@@Brant_Moore sadly the nearest decently sized spine is a solid 2 hours away… guess ill have to make a road trip out of it🤷♂️
Is it box hill skatpark
Me and my Friend were playing bike but he had a scooter and he did the spine so I was about to chicken out but I sent it and it wasn’t that hard😂
My local skatepark has a spine but it’s like 8 feet tall
what r them bars my guy 😂
I guess I have the steepest spine at my skatepark because the one I’m the video is like a 1/4 of the size of mine
They come in all sizes and varieties. Might have to travel to find the right one to learn on
Accidentally taught myself i was having a whole conversation w my friends dropped in without looking jumped a spine and somehow landed without crashing carrying enough momentum to fly out
Well that's super fortunate and awesome. haha
How about balls it my friend said that to me when i was learning 360 fly out and i landed first try

It’s kind of hard to show commitment man😂😂😂
I learned by foot planting
I saw my first spine and I was chicken shit. I will commit next encounter
We don’t have a spine like that
The middle of his handle is bent
They're made like that
Wow this is the first time when a TH-camr talks to me
Always try to respond to people as much as I can!
Mine is harder because its concrete and theres one metal rod and not 2
3ft ramps/spines aren't intimidating I only have 5-6 ft ramps/spines and its horrific

that spine is easy
Yes it is. That’s the point when learning how to do something for the first time
@Brant_Moore the problem is cuz the spine at my park is inside a bowl and is 6ft and way steeper
Not a good one to learn on man. But if you do, the concept is the same
