    I've been shooting mine since about 2008. Great camera!

      I found it really nostalgic when I saw the images on the laptop. The output is very similar to the 5D classic.

      quick question: Does it have a video mode? and if yess, what is the maximum quality it can record? i would be delighted to hear from you :)

      @@user-yv4hg5jn2d sadly there is no video mode in this camera. I think the 5D mark ii was the first canon DSLR to have video mode and then in the double numbered canons it was the 60D.

      I am truly very happy with how my images look straight out of camera with the 40D. I have found that there's a similar look and feel to the photos from the 5D classic, which I previously owned for a short time. I've been impressed by the results up to now.

    Just got back into this hobby after many years away. I used to own a 40d new in 2008.
    If I didnt want full frame and video, I would definitely have bought a 40d again.
    This camera with a 50mm f1.8 lens is still a very good camera.

    • @andrew_martin_photography
      @andrew_martin_photography  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@infinitesky-59 I have noticed that the output from the camera in terms of image quality is very similar to the original 5D, but in the aps-c format. It was definitely worth buying for simple stills photography.

      @@andrew_martin_photography I completely agree.
      I came across some shots I had done at my sister in laws wedding. She already had a pro but I offered to get the candid shots as a favour.
      I only owned the 'nifty fifty' lens at that time but got some amazing candid portraits and even some mono low light interior shots without flash and handed over an albumn she fell in love with.
      To this day those photos are still the best I have ever done. Brilliant camera.

      Was torn between 5d and 40d...so for just over £200 I bought both.
      I have a C100 mk2 cinema camera and the 40d will fit very nicely in that bag and can use all the same lenses.
      The 5d classic will replace the 5d3 I sold.
      Why did I sell the 5d iii? Simply because when I compared the images to my old 40d none of them looked as good.
      The 5d3 is technically good but to my eye the files lack the magic of the 40d.

      @infinitesky-59 I guess that was what pleases me about the 40D too. The aesthetic output is very similar to the 5D classic and it gives me a sense of nostalgia when I look at the photos.

      Yeah I have only had the 40D for a week so I'm still giving it a whirl. I had a 5D classic for a few years and I'm not sure if I prefer the 40D, they both feel very similar to use. Thanks for watching, hope you're subscribed!

    Hi Andrew, I was just given a 40D body when I bought a Canon 5D2, essentially free of charge, including a charger and 3 good batteries! I am commenting not about the camera, but about your photos taken in Sutton Park. When I was young, my parents relocated from Australia to the UK, and we lived in Banners Gate, about 250 meters from the Sutton Park gate of the same name. Your most excellent heath and wood images gave me a massive wave of nostalgia 50 years later... I am guessing the water image was of Powell's Poo,l or maybe of Bracebridge? Next visit back to the UK I will make an effort to retrace some of my childhood in Sutton Park. Many thanks!

    Nice... // The main reason that APSC sensors are not good in landscape - is because of the crop factor.... any field-of-view lens will have a smaller / zoomed size of x1.5 or x1.6.... but if you're shooting and stitching multiple photos together post-process into a panorama, then that shouldn't be a problem.

      Or getting a 10-18mm or 10-22mm EF-S lens? I’m rather new to photography so I’m wondering if I’ve missed something? Won’t the 10-22mm be the same as the 16-35mm on an FF? 🤔
      I’m probably buying a 40d in mint condition but I didn’t know it didn’t have live view… it will be my landscape camera with my Canon 10-22mm and I don’t want to buy a 50d or newer since the last 10 series that was built like a tank was the 40 before they switched to plastic body apparently🤷🏽

    • @FeedScrn
      @FeedScrn 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@brunodrakenas9575 - Yes. Zoom lenses are great, as long as you have great light. This is because the aperture values do not open up compared to prime lenses. That may not be a problem for you though.
      - APSC cameras are good for nature and landscape shots because they have that crop factor... which some would say is built in zoom.

      @@FeedScrn I didn’t really understand the shooting and stitching several shots when you can get the same result with a 10-22mm as a FF 16-35mm?

    • @FeedScrn
      @FeedScrn 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brunodrakenas9575 - Yes sometimes that's enough. Sometimes you may want more. For example off of an apartment building balcony, shot both directions of the street + the street in front... and stitched them together. Some times it's about telescoping... like shooting the moon. 85mm is approx 136mm.

    I need to know more about the swans ?🤣

    • @andrew_martin_photography
      @andrew_martin_photography  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This all goes back about two and a half years. I was shooting a vlog whilst also trying to capture stills photos near a pond. There was a family of swans nearby and they began paying very close attention to me. It turned out to be a mother swan who was protecting her cygnets and I hadn't realised. I suddenly became aware that I had ventured too close for the swans and I was about to be attacked. Ever since then I have always been wary of getting too close to swans wherever I go.
