    I keep messor barbarus too, and every time they have to move into the new nest it is really chaotic and hard to watch, so i think that behavior of your colony is maybe normal for that species

      Perhaps, but it was suuper scary the way the dragged the queen...

    Wow i love watching your videos.
    I just started my own ant colony i just caught 4 queens last week its amazing how the queen works on her own i just saw my frist worker ant last night i cant believe how fast it is and how exciting it is just watching the ants move around. Thank you for Expiring me. And thank you for the videos i cant wait to watch more. ;)

    Nice video! Very emotional voiceover, but allow me to reccomend the following in order to speed up moving to the new nest, just in case you don't know: light the old nest with some strong source of light, and stop hydrating it several days before; start hydrating the new nest the at the same time, cover the new nest with a piece of cloth or something, the main thing to create darkness in the new nest, put something yammy by the entrancd to the new nest. It works! Thank you for a good video! 🤘😁

    When I moved my lasius niger the queen and the newborn didn't want to move. Some workers grabed the new ones and they would ever roll up to be carried or get dragged to the new nest any way. So I wouldn't really worry about seeing that.
    I think the problem with the move was that they didn't really feel exposed because the still where in a relativly small area. For them it was like the arena was like a big damaged nest so they didn't know what to do. Also you might think about getting another nest because they could use some extra space and they can chew through ytong if they need more space.

    Messor are just so so so crazy... every time I do something in their out world they react like if it was the end of the world! I can relate to you having problems with Messor moving, in the wild the conditions must be vary bad for them to move out of their original nest, where the queen dug her first chamber

    • @AntsScandinavia
      @AntsScandinavia  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, but also, in the wild where they are native, there are not taht much large animals (i think at least, you are the por lol) , so when some large animal (uss) donks into their nest, it IS the end of the world XD

    • @AntsScandinavia
      @AntsScandinavia  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! :) And yes, that might have been a good Idea, but then I would have to separate the colony, and from previous experiance, separating colony parts from their queen, often results in their death in just a week or so, and this queen is also from experiance, a stubborn one, so she would take week(s) to move like that. This move took 5 days i think, so yea. Thanks for opening your comment with that you like my content, compared to others who just straight out bashed me haha. Have a nice day :)
