    Tying together lore elements from the Final Fantasy realm for Magitek Knight, there is potential to reference the legendary "Royal Armaments" from XV where Nero collected Allagan weapon data from one armament relic he came across, but it's up to us scouring Eorzea to find the rest as part of the job quest. Unlike a certain Lucian prince, we won't be starting our journey pushing a Corvette on an empty fuel tank. Another opportunity adding to the growing list of Allagan atrocities why these armaments were created.
    The conduit controlling all of these weapons synchronized with the armor could be a main Runic Blade arm, paying homage to the first Magitek Knight, the lovely Celes Chere from VI.

    The idea of a tank that leans heavily on animation locking into defensive abilities to charge up a burst attack is probably my favourite part of this idea. It feels like it'd fit very naturally into the way jobs already work while still being a totally different flow from the existing tanks.
    Seperate armour and character HP is really interesting, but makes me imagine magitek knights either dying 5 seconds after starting a dungeon pull when their armour breaks and the healer isn't able to really help them, or not needing a healer for the entire dungeon. Also from a scholar main's perspective, job replacing glam is not always fun.

    Hear me out - combine oversoul, hypertune, auracite with solution 9’s regulator tech in any combination during the job quest. Nero will have a field day.
    Also a replacement armour acting as a decoy like substitute in pokemon while you’re ejected, you’d place it like a caster. Do it with armour and get ejected. If you’re ejected to start with, just summon.
    When you’re unarmoured, have a thing that gives you extra defence as a just in case, and I like that being the burst phase

    I like the idea of having 2 ways to upkeep the armor, either as regen, or active action restoratives.
    I imagine the tank invuln as something inbetween Living Dead and superbolide. The wearer injects all their HP into the armor at once (also automatically turns off armor regen) and it restores the armor to full HP, while granting invulnerability to incoming damage, but also heals. When the invulnerable status falls off, the armor resumes normal mode at full HP, and the healer can resume restoring the wearer's HP. So you have the invuln of the other tanks, while the immediacy of GNB and DRK, but also leniency that is different from the above 2 existing classes. It would probably have a CD similarly placed.
    I like the idea of variable modes, but probably stick with 2, ans maybe grow in future expansions (need space for growth). I imagine a ranged caster phase like PLD, bit instead of shiny, it's big punchy beams, guns, rockets, whatever. That burst you mentioned is a great idea. I feel the ranged dps (pvp style) fits as more of an out of armor style of gameplay. It sounds like a lower damage state and possibly a rotation filler when waiting for burst it can function in a sort of off tanking mode (along with remotely operating your armor in its place).
    As much as we would LOVE to zip around free movement boost, i don't see that as a possibility unless all other mobility action classes get it too. I do see a boost style similar to sage's icarus or dancer's en avante. Or even free choice for both. You get 4 charges, with a non targeted en avante is 1 charge, while a targeted icarus style uses 2 charges. Or some usage differential that gives you the flexibility, but also a skill reward.

    This concept definitely sounds intriguing, and I'd be curious to see how it would perform in game, but nothing will ever sway me from my Green Mage tank concept I've had for years lol.
    Basically, MP is a crucial resource and an MP restoring action is part of your core rotation. There are very few casts and your basic combo has extra damage and a bit of extra range at the cost of MP. MP usage gradually fills up the Life Tree gauge. When it's filled, you can execute powerful mitigation skills with a lot of healing, as well as powerful damaging spells. It's like SCH where you should decide what to use AF on, and like PLD where damage is second to mitigation in the kit. Biggest difference is GRN's mit is a bit more healing than damage reduction

    to go all in on the garlean theming, i think it could be fun if the weapon for the unarmored form was a garlean gunblade. terminus est ranged gcds, etc etc

    love the concept, things id mention with it, specifically the eject so the boss doesnt spin. you could also make it so you can choose if the boss targets the suit or you and the suit can join a stack. main thought of this would be after devour in p5s. if someone dies to the mechanic then you as the tank can place your suit at the location your ment to go to and move to the open spot to save a party member. this would only work for devour if 1 or 2 people die to the mechanic however wont be as useful if more die unless you use the suit for sac strats for if it has a stack marker you can eject and let it take it itself or use it as a posible stack partner in p10s if the other tank died. idk i think the concept is quite good

    I'm getting Blue Beetle vibes from the idea and I'm here for it. Would need to avoid something on the back or chest (Ironman style) for the armament to avoid a potential lawsuit, but hey this is theory crafting so we could go whole hog. Maybe we could have shoulder pauldrons that grow into the suit when unsheathed? Kinda like Kingdom Hearts BBS but on both shoulders. With Monk already having some weapons that are attached to the arms and not on the hips, I'd say avoid gauntlets on hands personally. Definitely something that signifies to other players that you're a Magitek Knight on sight

    Ever since I got into FF7 remake and rebirth and understood how efficient Barret was at tanking/support in fights, was wondering if there could be a XIV simile, this sounds so awesome and the design possibilities could be really fun.

    To reduce the Bar Bloat and keep it on theme, the armor and certain abilities should change on which aspect (Ruby for 2mins and dps, Emerald for suit recovery, and Diamond for overall defensive/shield buffs) you can freely move through. A Ninjas TenChiJin equivalent should allow quick access on the fly depending on situations, because fun in raid and terrible in dungeoning, or vice versa, affects active play. And if the glow of the armor changes to let you know what 'stance' your in helps ease timing windows.

    I like the idea, the rail guns could very well be like when paladin starts to rain swords down on people. Could see the various weapons being for some rotations giving a ranged ration for the high mobility portion of a fight and a melee rotation, shield mode could always be the invuln timer as well and change up the melee animations a hair. Kinda picturing the whole thing like when Stark starts in his base armor and the swaps to his different buster armors. Heck we have shield healers, a shield tank wouldn't be too far a stretch.

    p.s. it's not optimal but there is a fun casting rotation that involves lots of casting making a fun MP management mechanic for those who are sad PLD got easier lol

    The theme and design of this is so unbelievably cool plus with the new technology stuff introduced in DT makes this even more plausible from a story perspective. Plus one of my friends is a huge mecha fan and I'm certain he'd literally explode if this was implemented.
    The only concern I have currently is how do shields interact with the armor? Currently as described, the armor wouldn't receive heal-based shields from Scholar and Sage. Did you intend for the shield to just transfer to the armor or just treat the magitek knight as if they are under permanent emergency tactics? Also how does party shields like Shake It Off interact with the armor, presumably it gets it but does the base knight also get the shield? Also if the base magitek knight does get shields, are the shields consumed as part of the life transference or no?
    Its not really an issue in actual content like Savage, but dungeons and roulette stuff could get dicey if a Scholar is only 40% as effective.

    I’d love them to add a tank with this much involved gameplay in it. Since shadowbringers tanking has been zzz, so adding something unique like this would very much reignite my passion for the role. Somebody at Squeenix needs to listen to this and take notes

      I dont think they would ever do that. If it wasnt a tank then maybe its more likely but I still doubt it. I know they do in pvp but thats a very different scenario since you basically look after yourself rather than in pve where you are relying on another person.

    With the soul thing, what if it was a mixture of the garlean soul ingection and solution 9s soul injection a hybrid of them. And armaments are a semi set rotation similar to summoner and vpr

      Actually, you could also do a similar action as mch has with queen, where you build up queen/the armor, once equipped your burst is similar to warriors fellcleaves but you choose which armament you use ending with the railgun mega damage as a finisher. Could give it a cover like ability so you can shield a party member from a hit or reduce their dmg taken. For the armament guage make it as something that gains over time that you can use as ogcd attacks or mits that can be sent to other players. Like drks tbn if the mit recieves a hit you get a free armament ogcd hit.

    a tank with a gapcloser that isnt targeted strictly on enemies likely couldnt happen because SE sees too much potential to kill teammates with tankbusters. just dash at them and whats the summoner gonna do? stand there and die. "oh but rescue exists!!" yes, and 9 times outta 10, if you rescue someone with intent to kill them, you yourself are in the bad spot as well. sure there are exceptions, like Zoraal ja, but you cant do that in Valigarmanda.
    likewise an ability that lets you choose to share damage on you and spread it onto nearby teammates wouldnt happen, as bad players would use it to save themselves and kill their healers very often. but the inverse idea of damage heading to healers being redirected to you is totally possible. think Lifesaver on Barrett from FF7R!
    i think any kind of long range tank playstyle just isnt going to happen, because the boss will follow them to the edge of the arena. bad players have a habit of believeing max casting range is the safest place to be, and putting that on a tank means bad tanks will kite the boss around the arena constantly running away, and thatd just make every fight a living hell for melee players. if it has any ranged modes it would need to be short with only a few GCDs like paladins Requiescat, to convince people that this job doesnt play well from afar, but it happens to have a tool for when you need to disengage.
