I always like miracles in the souls games. Contrary to other games, they add more variety rather than only having sorcerers and just becoming some guy in light weight robes using a staff. In DS and DS2 there are several characters who showed strength not only through miracles but through their physical strength as well (Havel, Leeroy, Velstadt).
ShakerGER He's a Paladin. Paladins are tanks with usually healing on the side. However I love Miracles because when I was making my Paladin build I realized I get to have the best buffs, I get the ability to heal like regular paladins, and best of all I have Lightning/Light based offensive spells so I can still fight with magic. S' fine. I thought it did too till I saw this comment and went back to read up on it. Also, most of this dude's(op) items are wrong. Blue Dagger is pointless, as is Old Bell Helm. Now, unleash magic with say GRS would be terrifying. Or scraps of life...eugh.
Wrath of Gods as a wakeup attack and Emit Force REALLY throw people off when they aren't expected. WoG has lingering hitboxes to hit people even just after spell ends and Emit Force has faster casting animation then most miracles and fires REALLY fast. With the right equipment and stats, Emit Force can do as much damage as Great Lightning Spear too, but is more difficult to dodge
ShakerGER In Dark souls 2 they split up the Dark souls WoG. The Utility side of staggering and knocking around opponents became Force. And the Damage side was insanely buffed and became the 2000 damage Wrath of the Gods you see now. I'm not saying it's the most powerful, but Dark Souls WoG probably isn't the strongest.
Dark Soul's 2, especially in the beginning when it was almost impossible to roll through and can one shot almost anyone. However, DS1 is the more fun 1. Edit: This is my opinion, so don't take it as a fact.
in ds1 it was strong because of the possible chain bs of it and deadangle and with the right build you could still onehit ko someone and suprise factor (sometimes)
heavenly thunder is op in shrine of amana, doors of pharros (flooded parts) and under the lost bastille since when lightning hits water it gains a bonus aoe effect.
Appaloosa Hill its a mod for PC :D there is also a darkness mod where the whole game is really dark (obviously) and a torch is almost compulsory. Like even sunny areas like majula are pitch black ^-^ really cool stuff.
Wrath of the Gods has the same animation as the Heal miracles, at least in the beginning. This can and should be used to play mind games and mixups. Not at full HP? Pretend you're retreating and start casting it. The opponent if either going to think you're about to heal and rush you, getting destroyed in the process, or be forced to guess whether you're healing or attacking if you've conditioned them. That way you can heal for real because they might think you're trying to trick them. I learned that from FIghtingCowboy.

Another great explainatory video from you, thanks, keep on! What shield would you recommend vs lightning? A lightning infused Clerics small shield? or is it something else with better all over stats with high lightning damage? What small shield are you using in the video?
Great video! But I have one thing to add referring to magic barrier. I ran a test to compare DS1 and DS 2 Great magic barriers. DS1 gmb negated about 90% of the Chandlers soul arrow, now DS2 gmb was hard to see any significant redux on damage when I tested it in the Shrine of Armana. Not sure if its a glitch or what, but seems like its a placebo buff in Ds2.
It's nice to see that not everyone is buying into the myth that offensive miracles are somehow bad. Pretty much all I've seen in regards to them after the lightning spear nerf is a constant stream of whining about how Faith is underpowered.
Battleguild Miracles don't need a "Dark Orb" type spell to be viable. We've had 2 games to get used to that, unless the people making those complaints didn't actually play either of them
DkS Nexus lol, no I'm just saying that's what it pretty much was before the nerf. Some people whine about it because Miracles don't really have a bulk spell that deals decent damage for relatively low stats anymore unlike Sorcery and Hexes. TBH I don't care that it got the nerf since it was really only useful as a starter spell for faith builds.

awesome video bro! :) I am going to use miracles to they look really cool I like miracles because they really help you they heal you from poisen,toxic or if you have low health They buff you they give some extra strength and defense if you going to fight a boss or giving some extra defense against overpowered crystal soul spears and they help you find more signs then they can help you fighting a really hard boss Miracles are awesome and if you look at it it are the only spells that really help you
Crystal Soul Spear isn't overpowered. Each Spell type has it's own massive damage Spell. Each with their own advantage. Crystal Soul Spear is the one for sorceries and has the best damage for it's 'stats'. Forbidden Sun is for Pyromancies and it has the best speed so it can be use to say, stop healing. Sunlight Spear is the one for Miracles and has the best casts. Now Climax is for Hexes and technicly has the best damage, but it eats all of your souls. Which is why I say Crystal Soul Spear is better.
Luke Chaffin A dedicated climax build is the strongest build in DS2 in my experience. Souls wont matter when you finish the build, I wont hesitate also to say it is the best spell in the game for pvp in my opinion
Try it as a fireball in dark souls 1. You can't throw it at your feet yet it's shown as a normal spear not sunlight so it can be seen coming or its a one time shot
PvPSkillz I've only had a few good moments with Splintering Lighting Spear. I usually bait with a couple Great Lightning Spears and then use SLS towards the ground, it's a hit or miss if they roll into it on accident. (It has a small spread when pointed at the ground) The single best moment I've had with it was when I parried and riposted one guy and then casted SLS at the ground while he was recovering, it hit and killed him before he could roll out of the way. Unfortunately I've been unable to repeat this event with other people since SLS's wind-up is sooo slow. (Even with Dragon Chime & Blue Clearstone Ring +2)
This Top 5 reminds me of Licia and this guy Nicholai from last DLC. For me, straight warrior that spells they use (like you said) hit me like a truck. 2k dmg and goodbye.

Unleash magic buffs all kinds of magic and the old bell helm increases the damage of all spells casts with chimes by 1%. Also, the blue dagger buffs all spells by 5%

Wrath of Gods, like most magic, is way more effective against average or bad players; good players see it and can get away in time. Blinding Bolt spam is very annoying. Force can be useful against roll spam. There is no spell in the game that is consistently good as an approach tool (some things are OP in environments like bridge or small room). Sunlight Spear, GRS, Forbidden Sun, and CSS are way too easy to dodge, so those are limited to hard reads. I sort of like it that way though, as damage is very high.
It would be nice if you retitle the video to the stongest Miricals because you left out atleast one heal which is very strong (I think it does not buff/ you didn't talk about it) And you also left out the greeat/normal lightning spear which is your bread and butter spell as a priest. Otherwise very nice video enjoyed it a lot.
Heals wouldn't really matter to be on here, as well as the fact that great lightning spear is just kinda boring & weak, while lightning spear is completely worthless.

My PVP killin' combo: Blindin' Bolt + Emit Force = git rkt Also when they're over agressive: Blinding Bolt + Emit force to lure them and then Wrath of the Gods.
My only problem with a Miracle build... 2 of the best spells aren't easily available. Sunlight spear requires alot of grinding in the Sunbros. And WotG requires either Rank 3 in Way of Boo, or NG++. Which sucks. :(

guys is the miracle build still nerfed? i recall playing DS2 when it launched and i'd have like a lot of lightning spears. playing it again like a year later you barely had any
FROM nerfed the casts of all lightning spears, and then also accidentally nerfed the damage when it was meant to be buffed. Now it's probably better to make a half-caster like a paladin or battle-cleric instead of a full caster, unless you dip into hexes.
+Timothy Emrick so why didn't they go back and fix it yet? A simple calculation fix is needed right? Miracles were fine before. Like it was hard to hit other players with lightning Spears. You could easily dodge it or just run sideways.
Dark Exsphere I guess Lightning Spear was toxic enough for FROM to not bother trying to balance it for fear of making it too strong again. The old Lightning Spear trivialized PvE since most enemies are weak to lightning, and the mix of high damage, spam-ability, and epic range made them a favorite in PvP as well. When FROM found out they had accidentally neutered the spells, they went 'well, at least they won't be bothering anyone in PvP anymore' and left it as is.
Ok this is an off topic question, but I'm in NG++ and this thing came out of the last primal bonfire I lit. However, I don't have the DLC so what's with that? Something that just happens?
+Stratos 420 I thought the same thing, then used them in a light armor strength build and it worked Miracles *rimshot*, the Buffs (Sacred Oath and Sunlight Blade especially) are incredibly strong, Great Lightning Spear (and Sunlight Spear) hit like a freight train. The few offensive miracles that exist are very potent, and even the other buffs and utility spells alone can allow you to cut through some of the toughest enemies like nothing. if you prefer spam casting and kiting, then you are better off with sorceries or hexes. But Miracles lend themselves incredibly well to melee builds.
Stratos 420 never said you were, mate. just giving an example of how Miracles don't fit into the traditional Mage Role but still have great benefit in the right builds. (and that miracles have many more applications than "Heal, and that's it")
No, Sun Sword is best when you have high strength and dexterity. Infusing it will hurt the weapon. :/ The standard Longsword works well with lighting. And with minimal stat invest in strength and dex for a good 150 build weapon.

It adds 250 to your elemental resistances, so it only gives you an additional 25% magic/fire/lightning/dark damage reduction.

Sun seal also increase offensive miracle damage. But it is a two ring sacrifice if you have the clutch ring. If you dont, its a good alternative.

Remember you can lower faith requirements so you can save a few points for other stats

My only problem with a Miracle build... 2 of the best spells aren't easily available. Sunlight spear requires alot of grinding in the Sunbros. And WotG requires either Rank 3 in Way of Boo, or NG++. Which sucks. :(

guys is the miracle build still nerfed? i recall playing DS2 when it launched and i'd have like a lot of lightning spears. playing it again like a year later you barely had any
FROM nerfed the casts of all lightning spears, and then also accidentally nerfed the damage when it was meant to be buffed. Now it's probably better to make a half-caster like a paladin or battle-cleric instead of a full caster, unless you dip into hexes.
+Timothy Emrick so why didn't they go back and fix it yet? A simple calculation fix is needed right? Miracles were fine before. Like it was hard to hit other players with lightning Spears. You could easily dodge it or just run sideways.
Dark Exsphere I guess Lightning Spear was toxic enough for FROM to not bother trying to balance it for fear of making it too strong again. The old Lightning Spear trivialized PvE since most enemies are weak to lightning, and the mix of high damage, spam-ability, and epic range made them a favorite in PvP as well. When FROM found out they had accidentally neutered the spells, they went 'well, at least they won't be bothering anyone in PvP anymore' and left it as is.
still man. it was so hard to hit enemeis in pvp with a lightning spear of any strength. unless there was lag. Whenever i lagged out i hit the person.

Miracles are my least favorite types of spells. Mostly because what most of them do is heal , and that's it.
+Stratos 420 I thought the same thing, then used them in a light armor strength build and it worked Miracles *rimshot*, the Buffs (Sacred Oath and Sunlight Blade especially) are incredibly strong, Great Lightning Spear (and Sunlight Spear) hit like a freight train. The few offensive miracles that exist are very potent, and even the other buffs and utility spells alone can allow you to cut through some of the toughest enemies like nothing. if you prefer spam casting and kiting, then you are better off with sorceries or hexes. But Miracles lend themselves incredibly well to melee builds.
Stratos 420 never said you were, mate. just giving an example of how Miracles don't fit into the traditional Mage Role but still have great benefit in the right builds. (and that miracles have many more applications than "Heal, and that's it")
only like 6 of them heal u the rest deal lighnung damage muracles are the only magic I use

Taro Takana All gameplay is on PS3 so no mods there, the spell demonstrations are on PC but my frined did them so I have no idea.
Oh ok, its just that the Armor Set you were using is the same as this re-texture mod someone uploaded which made it look like a black knight.

No, Sun Sword is best when you have high strength and dexterity. Infusing it will hurt the weapon. :/
The standard Longsword works well with lighting. And with minimal stat invest in strength and dex for a good 150 build weapon.

+Keiz Hardy For PvP Longsword will treat you well, as for PvE a Lightning Zweihander or Lightning Red Iron Twinblade works wonders. :)
+Keiz Hardy I may be a bit late but the Heide Knight weapons are very good with faith builds. I used the heide sword through ng easy :)
+Fosphor Just don't infuse the Heide Sword. It doesn't get much damage or Faith scaling.
