Hit 170 in late 2019...insert pandemic...hit 165 in March 2021. Just finished the Candito 6 week bench program and hit 170 again (175=nope!). Can’t be too mad about it. Hit a lot of rep/weight schemes I haven’t before during the last 6 weeks so hopeful a few more months I can finally reach my goal of 185 @ 132lbs BW!

Hypothetically (and using round numbers here) if Julius Maddox went 700/750/800 on bench, the sum of those 3 bench presses would give him the 22nd best total all time in sleeves. I've benched 525lbs in meet (and 500+ in 3 weight classes, the fat ones), and 550lbs in the gym with a baby pause.
@@GR-uc1gq for most people, no. Most people aren’t genetically gifted or weigh heavy enough to do it. 500 is impressive regardless but a lot of natty lifters don’t even weigh 200lbs. Most people would need to bulk around a substantial amount or hit a world class level 2.5-3x bodyweight bench which isn’t possible for the majority of the population.

Training the same muscles many times a week for a period is known as nuclei overload training, so when you go back to actual hypertrophy and strength training you make quick gains
@@lilbatty it should be fine if you're cutting, from my own experience I did a lot of running in a caloric deficit for track and cross country along with jumping. Then once I started squatting my legs blew up. Team alpha 3d has many good videos on everything about it. Good luck!

It’s getting better now and I’m able to do most things including benching with my feet down but I choose not to out of precaution because the flare ups make it almost impossible to work or lift.

Great interview. The talk about payment, prize money all makes sense, as Eddie Hall has talked about as well. He didn’t do a powerlifting meet cause it just wasn’t worth it for him. The athlete is essentially taking the majority of the risk & the promoter is taking all the money.

I believe it. I think studies show that the difference in strength at the absolute highest levels between natty and enhanced is only 10% or so. Again, at the absolute highest level. This doesn't mean casual gym goers or "pretend powerlifters" on Instagram. Greg Nuckols has a piece about it I believe.
I'm actually stronger paused , I've done 145kg paused and I've missed 140 more times than I can count touch and go but got it probably 6 months after my paused pr 🤔 Currently at 125kg and working my way back up after all the gym closures.
I did 105 kg PR (231 lbs) after a 3 month complete break from lifting, had access to that gym only for 1 week. Then had couple months no access to gym again and working out only 1-2 times a week with bw, lifting stones or whatever I could, I went to a gym and did a PR of 107.5 kg (237 lbs). My bw was 100kg though so it's not that impressive in that sense, trying to get down to about 85kg bw now and see if I can get a 110 kg bench at that weight.

285lb is my all time best 1RM on bench. Hit that at about ~200lb BW when I was 18. I am now 25 and have yet to get even remotely close to that.
