You seriously read my mind, this video was my perspective on how Minus One could continue. I think of it as three points where the story could end. Minus One being the first, the end of the trilogy being the second it keeps it grounded to the cradles of Minus One and just a little more with the extra kaiju in the mix. Finally the cinematic universe is where there is no bounds, in which it can end on a bombastic note.
According to the director of Minus One; he explained he want those characters to return in the sequel to explore more of the Godzilla disease infecting Noriko.
But dude, I would say definitely pitch your ideas to toho, it’s great and a Godzilla minus one trilogy sounds fantastic, if they take there time which I think they will, I think toho has the chance to make something beautiful!
I have the idea of sequel set in Modern day Japan. Akiko is now a mother and grandmother and famous because of her father’s legacy of being war hero and defeating Godzilla. She is now a leader of Japan’s people. All is good right? No. Godzilla is back and he’s bigger and angrier than ever before.
I think it should take a place in late 2011 early 2012 which is not to long after the tohoku earthquake, so the setting will similarly be after an event the sent Japan into a zero state
I cannot remember who said this, but I saw on twitter for an idea for a Minus One Sequel that I think could have some interesting potential. It would be a VS movie, between Godzilla and Anguirus, or hell maybe another Godzilla. But the whole time it’s the government and the world trying to prevent these two from fighting. If Godzilla caused so much chaos on his own, imagine what would happen if he went toe to toe with another monster. It would be WORSE, thus creating tension and could also comment on current and old world tensions from super powers, and the people caught in the middle. The idea really stuck with me when I heard about it and I can’t stop thinking about it.
I would like a original monster we are already familiar with Anguirus and what he’s capable of but a original monster would make its abilities unpredictable and surprising so yeah while Anguirus would be cool I think it would be best if a original fought Godzilla
If they make a godzilla animation, I'd be very interested in seeing a "animatrix" style of animation where each episode is its own story involving different Godzilla styles and directors 😮
I’d love to see Anguirus and Varan in a sequel to Godzilla Minus One. I’d love for it to be a “versus movie” but I think they shouldn’t use “versus” in the title. It should be called “Godzilla Minus Two” or something like that. Basically, while other monsters will be featured for Godzilla to battle in the sequel, the “non-versus title” will show audiences that it’s a continuation of Minus One in both story and tone. Meanwhile it will give fans versus battles within the film.
@@toyohimeyeswatatsuki6917I hope they do this and in the gidhorah movie, they make godzilla a villain but while also keeping gidhorah as a villain just more threatening. And maybe idk godzilla gets redeemed somehow. Bc I want godzilla to be like a character full of rage and vengeance, but in the end in the gidhorah movie he forgives the humans and die somehow from his own power, like maybe mothra dies and and she power ups godzilla, but it would be too much power for godzilla and he dies. Rodan can just get killed by gidhorah he's not really that important in the gidhorah movie in my opinion.
W video Dman! i love these type of topics! if they ever do a squeal or a stand alone film, please give the other toho kaiju a chance! like godzilla fighting rodan, titanosaurus, manda or Yamata no Orochi. or a stand alone rodan film or something! i just want it to be a good solid film just like godzilla minus one.
Something I would LOVE to see Toho do is bringing back the concept of Ghost Godzilla and making it the main focus. This would be an standalone, more horror focused film which saw the human protagonists being trapped in a seemingly abandoned city/town with Godzilla as they investigate what really happened there and try to stop the big G from getting to a more populated area (also trying to survive). This version Godzilla would be a mix of GMK Godzilla with the white eyes, the mushroom cloud design that is becoming popular recently for the head shape, a bit of the original Ghost Godzilla concept from the heise era (mainly name and some caracteristics), the whole fog concept from Singular Point and that one creepy concept art of Final Wars where he looks like a rotting corpse for most of the design. He would also bring with him some big parasite like the Shockirus or the Meganulas (potential set up for Megaguirus?). The movie would be tittled something in the lines of "Godzilla: Ghost-Town". I'm honestly not sure what else would I add, so if anyone wants to give their ideas to the mix I'm all for it.
I’m was thinking the exact same thing when it comes to making minus one a trilogy! There’s so much potential for Yamazaki to tell a solid 3 part story here as you said. Also your idea for the 4 movie World of Godzilla universe got me hella hyped, it’s a fantastic idea!
VERY interested in hearing your Godzilla Zero pitch. 😁 Honestly, some combo of all these ideas sounds like the way to go. Do the anime, & perhaps blend the Yamazaki trilogy idea into the Worlds of Godzilla, with the Mothra & Rodan movies crossing over with the final Yamazaki installment. My idea for a Yamazaki trilogy is to have the subsequent two films focus on Noriko in #2 & then Akiko in #3. Part 2, set in the 50s ('54 or '55, maybe both), sees Noriko (& others) starting to show severe signs of radiation poisoning from her mark. Her salvation? The Guardian monster Anguirus, pulling from Kaneko's unused GMK idea. Angy is a non-radioactive creature that represents Japan's pre-war past, while a revived & regenerated Godzilla still represents Japan's post-war sins & consequences. Anguirus's blood holds the key to Noriko & the other marked ones' cure. Depending on how specific your Zero pitch is, there might be room to include the dual Godzillas idea to symbolize dueling Cold War superpowers. An American created Godzilla (the first), & a new Russian one. The third film jumps to 1962, with a now 18 year old Akiko reflecting on her experiences with a world inhabited by monsters. Ghidorah is introduced here. Perhaps possibly include a new version of Gotengo (another unused Kaneko idea), with Koichi becoming a member of the Captain's crew.
I love your idea of having Toho do multiple projects that are unrelated at the same time; I feel that's how you keep everyone on board. Like me personally, I desperately need Toho to do another "vs" / kaiju fight film as it's been 20 years since their last LA one and I'm also a bit tired of them doing reboot after reboot (been this way since '99 with three exceptions). But if they want to give us a "series" of films while also doing "elseworlds" style separate films that works for me! At the very least I hope Toho (and the MV) can work together to spread out the content so that we don't have big gaps without anything. I think Toho dropped the ball with SP by releasing it right as GVK released and I'm a little concerned GXK is coming out too close to Minus One (and Monarch)
The "Worlds of Godzilla" idea would be a dream come true. It'd be absolutely incredible seeing Toho effectively recreate the early Showa Era in modern day, and it'd pave the way for the first Toho made long-form Godzilla series since the Heisei series. While Ghidorah would of course be a fine opponent for the crossover, I'd also love it if they'd bring in other kaiju that haven't been featured much on film yet, such as Gigan, Biollante or even Bagan. Maybe not in the first crossover film but if it succeeds, I'd love to see some of those monsters get another chance in the spotlight. As for the potential for a Minus One sequel or trilogy, fully agree that Yamazaki has to come back as the director and writer. I'm hesitant on what direction I think should be taken, as I can see another solo film easily being stale and a VS movie potentially being too outlandish or goofy for the setting. The idea for a Godzilla vs Godzilla film intrigues me though, and I'm pretty confident that Yamazaki will have a worthwhile story to tell if he does end up helming a sequel. Overall I'm cautiously optimistic. If it does become a trilogy, it could be the best films the franchise has to offer and its equivalent to the Heisei Gamera Trilogy!
I love the idea of Takashi directing a Goji monsterverse film and making a minus one trilogy. For minus 2 I'd love to see Varan and for minus 3 they could really go apocalyptic with the oxygen destroyer along with Destroyah or Bagan plus a few other kaiju. I'd also love to see Toho let Keneko of gmk direct another Goji film in the future too, Godzilla vs Gamera? The possibilities are endless
Happy Lunar New Year, D-Man!🐉 I already explained my ideas for a Minus One sequel in a previous video so I won't repeat myself here. Its the Year of the Dragon and I'm very happy and excited about it 😁
I am unsure what I want at all lol. Im just shocked we have had so much Godzilla content this past year. Its been so fun! Taking some time to contemplate things... I think having maybe 1 sequel to get a resolution to the hospital scene, would be great. It could be far in the future or a few years later. But I am ok if there isn't one.
Awesome video. I would like to see the what happens next with the regenerating pieces of Godzilla... The body gets a new head and the blown off pieces of head merge into another Godzilla. It would be insane. i also like your idea about releasing individual Monsters to get to a Toho remake of King of Monsters. On a side note I really enjoyed King of Monsters because I worked in the buildings of Boston that were trashed by Godzilla and Gidorah
My idea for a GMO sequel if for Godzilla to fight Gigan , which in the Minus One universe is a cyborg kaiju made from parts of various kaiju (not from Godzilla) and some man-made parts, like a steam punk Gigan or something like Frankenstein's Monsters.
Whatever the sequel is gonna be , it’s probably gonna either be another solo Godzilla outing or they would add another monster fight. However considering the film’s theme and tone, it would make sense to make a trilogy that would lead up the events of 1954, where Godzilla made his first appearance and it would feel more full circle.
Okay here’s what I think they should do! Since Godzilla: Minus One is the modern equivalent to the original Godzilla Film they should remake some of the other classics monster movies that came prior to Godzilla 1954 it would be so badass and dope to see Rodan, Mothra, or even Varan and The Gargantuans in modern versions of their own movies it would also be awesome to see a Movie about King Ghidorah how he became the evil galaxy destroying dragon we know today and how he meet and hated The King Of The Monsters in the first place! These movies would be 2-3 years apart starting 2028 and end by 2033 by 2034 they make another movie about Godzilla and the whole process starts over then by Godzilla’s 100th birthday in 2054 they make something really huge like a 4+ hour long movie that is a mega crossover of Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman, King Kong ECT, and will feature monsters from all of those eras both good and evil and they will battle in a endless titan sized war that’s half of the movies screen time! What do you think about what’s gonna happen in the next 30+ years?
First off, great video as always. Anyway onto my ideas: First Idea: Revive the GODZILLA Script Writing Contest that brought us Godzilla V. Biollante--and have it open to Western countries. There are so many people with great ideas for a Godzilla story, not just in Japan either, that could easily be adapted into movies. Now yeah, don't submit a poorly written/edited fanfic, but give creative, talented people the chance to work on a G-film, story, etc. That would be really cool--probably not going to happen, but hey anything is possible. Second Idea: Absolutely do a Rodan & Mothra solo movie. Enough said. Third Idea: I know it's not going to happen with Legendary's agreement right now with TOHO, but after the MonsterVerse has ended, do Japan-American collaborations on Godzilla films again. I get it, people are worried about agendas ruining movies, but if this can be pulled off the results could be incredible. Fourth Idea: Unrelated to GODZILLA, but do a modern Japanese remake of WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS. I'd love to see that occur. Final Idea: Perhaps--tying back to Idea #1--give would-be Godzilla creators a trial run about doing their own Godzilla stories or movies and have them submitted for a contest to see which ideas would be given the go-ahead for a full-length feature. And for those who don't get the chance, showcase their work on the official Godzilla youtube channel as short films so that both sides can win. Will it happen? Eh, who knows but that's how I'd do it.
I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this but I’m just tired of seeing Godzilla fighting Monster Zero. Toho has a Lot of other Kaiju I’d like to see make a return appearance. And importantly how would they even handle Mothra? In Monsterverse films Mothra is seen as Godzilla’s ally but in the older Toho films (except for one time at the end) she was his antagonist. Mothra may have enough fans to warrant a stand alone movie but Rodan? Maybe ….but would such films here in the US bring in the box numbers that Toho wants? I think Toho should stay with Godzilla as main character ( as most popular) and bring them in as secondary support and have another older kaiju from the franchise for them to go against. But I’m all in for some good animation. Especially if not bogged down with the problems of the Netflix ones. Just good old monster action. I actually enjoyed the Gamera series on Netflix.
i personally really want this to follow the godzilla thing were the series starts with a stand alone godzilla movie and then goes into an over arching story i am begging for a anthor heisei godzilla like story because i love the heisei series and i just want another one, if the monsterverse is mondern showa era then lets make minus one a mondern like heisei.
I would absolutely love a quality animated project in between live action films. Would also love to see a high quality video game on modern consoles. Possibly a beatem up.
The formula of giving auteurs a shot at Godzilla payed off huge with Shin Godzilla and Minus One. While I can live with a GMO sequel, I'd be okay with another take on Godzilla as well.
All this talk about Godzilla's future just gets me excited and it would be a dream to have half of the things mentioned in this video come true. If Ghidorah was the final villain that would destroy the world I would be so happy since that is what I wanted from Void Ghidorah and MV Ghidorah.
My idea for a "Minus" trilogy in order to be more serious and grounded,it would be for the sequel to feat Anguirus and the third movie to feat Biollante, that would be great in My opinion
DMan is you remember the ending to Minus One the black mark growing on Noriko's neck could be the origin for Minus One's version of Biollante and if Minus One were to get a sequel that could be the main plot and Shikishima could have to find a way to kill them both and get over the trauma and fear of killing Noriko
I could see Minus One as a trilogy since the Batman is also getting a trilogy. If They do make a sequel which I hope so…plus I would love if Toho returns to doing versus films again but this time keep it grounded and have depth to the fights. Plus I would like to see Godzilla’s character transition from a villain to an antihero like the Heisei series did. Probably if they introduce a new villain kaiju for the sequel, I would like if Godzilla is used as the Nuclear option/last resort to combat this threat who is ten times worse than the big G. Like a high stakes choice with consequences of course. A new animated Godzilla movie would be great! Because there is no limit on what you can do in animation. Plus it has to have a good story and Godzilla as a character as well as whoever they put in the film. Much like what they are doing with the spider verse movies but different. I don’t expect a flawless masterpiece but something that has both quality and effort put into them. And I hope they get a good studio to do the animation especially for Toho to allow the crew more creative freedom to the project. I would love to see Toho do remakes of their classic Kaiju like Mothra, Rodan and so on. Heck maybe they could act as spinoffs to Minus One or just be standalone, either way is fine. Plus bring back the more underrated kaiju like Anguirus, Baragon and Varan. Not to mention I know this is a stretch but I think we need a Godzilla vs. Gamera or Godzilla vs. Ultraman movie. Because it’s every kaiju fans dream to see the big 3 giants of Japan square off. But that’s wishful thinking. Not only that but if Yamazaki would do a MV solo Godzilla movie then that would be awesome! Or maybe act as a creative consultant for the project. I feel like we really need a good MV Godzilla movie that explores more on Godzilla’s character since we barely scratch the surface with him. Plus I really want to see Godzilla junior make an appearance. I think Godzilla becoming a father would be great to see again. Plus it would add more depth to his character that he has something to fight for other than the earth. Since if Kong is going to have a son then I want Godzilla to have a son down the road every king needs an heir. Anyways I do like your ideas and I too am excited for Godzilla’s future whether in Japan or America. The possibilities are endless.
I would like to see… Movies: 1) Shin Godzilla: Apocalypse - Yes, with humanity dies at the end. Ending scene could be shown from space station, where few astronauts coming to realize that they are last human beings in the universe. And their end is predetermined. 2) Godzilla during Cold War. More political message, than action. In the end Godzilla decide to not attack some city as metaphor to solution of Caribbean crisis. 3) Remake of Kiryu saga. Yes, same designs, but better characters, plot and action. I just love it) Anime: 1) Singular point: Season 2. There was Mechagodzilla, Shinohara and lots of possibilities. Show had best human characters (after “-1” apparently) in a franchise and unusual look on Kaiju origin. 2) Prequel to Godzilla Earth. Yeah, there was a novel, but Kaiju-apocalypse have a big potential. The only thing to worry about is a human characters. And also… Could TOHO do something with idea of body-horror Godzilla. Did you guys heard about that web-comics? I’m not sure what it should be, but this idea is great and it have even more tragic potential than Shin.
If they make a sequel it could be a take on the radiation poisoning while trying to get the government to put aside brewing Cold War tensions to deal with the threat. And maybe it can be that there are several Godzilla’s all grown from the pieces of the first. Right as soon as nuclear war is an option there’s a bunch of Godzilla’s. As well as pointing out how govts saw the suffering of the Japanese and still think “damn that would be helpful I need one of those”. And if there is just another reboot/remake it would be cool if it was during the Cold War when nuclear warfare was a terrifying possibility. The problem with minus one is similar to shin, Toho seems to really want their own cinematic universe but the past 2 movies don’t seem to want that and are just better told as one movie. Hell I’d like one where it’s more about the legend of Godzilla on odo island. All the fish are gone and they try to appease this legend with a sacrificed but it doesn’t work so they get mothra another legendary goddess to save them and maybe they resort to their devil, rodan the fire demon. Maybe one that’s another sequel to the first where it’s about the “if hydrogen bomb testing continues one day somewhere another Godzilla will appear” or one that is about the sins of WW2 Japan again where Godzilla is the sleeping giant they were afraid they awoke. He’s also expressed he’d love to work on a sequel to gamera 3. Just not as a director but play a part in it somehow
How insanely extraordinary would it be, if Takashi Yamazaki and Shusuke Kaneko co-directed a potential sequel for Godzilla: Minus One? No film is perfect, but with these two on board IMO, it would be as close to a perfect Godzilla movie as possible and an absolutely exceptional follow-up to an already astoundingly incredible film.
DmanThis is a very difficult question. We need a little time for the next film of Minus One, the best Godzilla film ever made. I personally hope for a scary Godzilla with the former white team of director Yamazaki and Hollywood visual creators teaming up!
If we’re going in the horror direction I would remake Sanda V. Gaira. Reduce them in size and set the story in a dense forested swamp. The human story could revolve around a group of people struggling to escape with Gaira hunting them one by one. Then introduce Sanda as a benevolent forest guardian who ultimately defends them.
Off topic, but this year marks the 40th anniversary of The Return of Godzilla. I'm kind of surprised we haven't gotten anything related to that, and I'm really hoping that we at least get an SH. Monsterarts figure for '84 Goji.
I really agree with your ideas of how you would do a minus one trilogy. I don't even normally go for anguirus. But even to me it would be very fitting for Godzilla to fight as his next opponent. I was even thinking how could Rodan and mothra be introduced as well. Like you said KOTM did a lot of the ground work for the monsters. So I'm ready to see a new action packed VS movie from TOHO. I've been wanting a Ghidorah the three headed monster or destroy all monsters sorta remake. KOTM gave us a little bit of that but I'm ready for TOHO so show me what they got. I liked how you explained it could play out, that would be cool. I also agree there shouldn't be too many more, if any new solo Godzilla films for a little while. I'm ready for some longer scenes of Godzilla vs the military on land and in the sea. They've showed how well they can do it now. Id love to see Godzilla adapt to be able to use his atomic breathe more efficiently and longer duration like usual (I understood the reasoning for how it was used in minus one) But id love to see a blend of how minus one charges up and how Tokyo sos Godzilla charged up liked the lights were flashing and you can hear the energy popping. It be cool to see with minus one's spines ejecting out randomly (or in sync like engine pistons but obviously not that fast but the motion) as they charge. I'd also be excited to see if TOHO could incorporate Rodan, mothra etc for some sort of epic sendoff for a trilogy or series. Great video love the discussion videos
As much as I'd love a sequel, we need to remember that this Godzilla shoots out atomic bombs that destroy EVERYTHING in its path. Any new enemy would be dealt with in the first 5 minutes of the movie, making it kind of lame. Don't get me wrong, I want to see monster battles, but this Godzilla, the one who doesn't give a flying f@#k about ANYTHING? No one is winning against him, not even close. He's that badass. And I like it that way.
I think the most realistic plot line would be to have two godzillas grow from whatever chunks of flesh survived the events of the ending and have them fight each other for territory during the height of the cold war. I don't think that the characters from the first movies should try to stop them, but have different protagonists to try to solve rampage that's going on.
Without question they should do a direct sequel with Anguirus in the next one' I also agree they should do spin offs within the new series as well, I remember them talking about wanting to do them if Godzilla minus one did well! If that is truly the case then I think a spin off of both Mothra and King Ghidorah are both a given' I don't remember hearing anything about Rodan getting one but he should get one too! The only other one that might be worth having his own spin off again is maybe Varan' they would then have plenty of sequels to set up with all these monsters, as for other monsters being in future sequels I can still see both Biollante and Hedorah happening before we get to a Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster remake. One of the few things I would do different which was already sort of done in King Of The Monsters is have one of the Earth monsters team up with King Ghidorah as they take on Godzilla, Mothra and then either Rodan or Varan. It would be a three on two handicap match' at least at first until the other Earth monster realizes he has made a mistake or was duped by King Ghidorah somehow, after this he turns on King Ghidorah as they either kill him or drive him away from Earth with all four monsters looking on as they roar in victory.
The coolest thing would be a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie, with Godzilla being the villain (Minus one style) and it would give Toho the chance to introduce Jet Jaguar or Ultraman to "help" Gamera. This would allow a "mech" type character, and make Gamera the good guy, which he is. Godzilla has already been set up to be the "bad guy" thanks to Minus One, so if he lost or even died, it would not upset the fans. I've heard many people say that due to the tone of Minus One, and how terrifyingly evil Godzilla appeared in that movie, lots of people actually wanted him to be destroyed. This would bring Gamera to the new generation with updated visuals and powers, and also introduce the idea of mechs as an option humanity could build and use to protect citizens. Have the mech share a data or virtual link with a brand new Super X type plane, and you have all the stuff from older Godzilla movies with options for stand alone Gamera, Jet Jaguar (or Ultraman) big screen movies, and of course it gives the added option for more stand alone Godzilla movies.
I know a lot of fans are bringing it up but remaking Godzilla Raids Again and using that as a sequel to Minus One would be perfect. GRA matches the serious, grounded tone and Anguirus would fit in very well in the Minus One universe. Having the animalistic, brutal fighting that was featured in GRA in a Minus One style would be so cool. The metaphor of Japan being caught between two superpowers resonates really well in todays world and in Japanese society. I'm biased because I like GRA and love Anguirus but the more I think about it, the more the idea just works.
It can be assumed that the G-cells aided Noriko's healing, given her likely severe injuries. If she were to transform into a Godzilla-like hybrid, one would expect her appearance to have changed; however, she still looks like herself. This suggests that the G-cells possess regenerative capabilities.
I think they should continue the story of Minus one, but have each sequel set in a different decade, with each film acting as a serious take on the key films of those eras, for example, the first sequel would be early Showa vs type film with Godzilla still as an antagonist but now he fights another monster, the third film might be a return of Godzilla type film where he resurfaces after a long absence, the fourth film would be Haisai inspired film with an introduction of Godzilla JR, followed by sequel five which would be a death of Godzilla/ vs Destroyah story, but his offspring would survive him for the sixth film that would be be about him coexisting with humanity, while the seventh film would be a GMK style film with the resurrection of the first Godzilla who would then fight Godzilla JR. Each film would be a period piece, taking place in the the 50s, 80s, 90s, (twice) early 2000s, and finally in the present day. Importantly Godzilla and any other monster they introduce needs a o feel real, so they probably won’t get any bigger than what we saw in Minus One, sci-fi elements will be minimal at best non existent at the least, with each film humanity will have to find semi realistic solutions to defeat Godzilla, and or other monsters, if aliens do show up in the series they would be made much less humanoid and more bizarre in appearance and technology, although the oxygen destroyer might make an appearance, it would not kill Godzilla, but would be responsible for the creation of Destroyah, Maser canons wouldn’t show up till the final film, and even then it would be an experimental technology that wouldn’t see wide use. And lastly in order for these films to work, the human side of the story needs to be grounded and compelling, it cannot take a back seat to the monster action, rather the two need to complement each other, recurring characters would be needed, at least in the first three films, by the time four and five roll around it would be a brand new cast of characters who would continue on into the next few films. As far as new monsters go, they need to be treated similar if not the same as Godzilla was in Minus One, creatures of myth and legend that have avoided civilization for the last millennia in remote parts of the world, not all of them would be mutations, and would have to use alternative methods to fight Godzilla, I think the first Monster should be Hedorah (sort of) rather it’s an abomination created from Godzilla’s radioactive cells mixing with other organisms, it would evolve over the course of the film (similar to shin Godzilla) taking on new forms (that resemble classic Kaiju) as it adapts, eventually taking on the form of a grotesque three headed dragon, Ghidorah (P.S. I left this comment on your community post as well)
I could easily see a mothra variant. With Noriko, being “infected,” it sets the tone for something that would be a protector for Japan. A kaiju born to fight against Godzilla.
Since your world of Godzilla idea doesn’t have a villian for the fourth movie, what if it’s Varan. It’d keep with the trend of monsters from the early Showa solo monster movies. Maybe you can base it off that idea for Godzilla vs destroyah where Varan was the villian and the haboger of the apocalypse. The apocalypse could be Ghidorah and the ending would tease Ghidorah.
If a sequel is possible there’s one kaiju that I would love to see and that’s anguirus, he might be the perfect combatant for Godzilla in this sequel, since it’s a more grounded and serious Godzilla.
Though we’ve been wanting Godzilla vs Godzilla for a long time and it never happened, it was supposed to be in the third movie of the Kiryu trilogy for Godzilla’s 50th anniversary, but instead toho went with a different director to make Godzilla final wars
Hell yes, a solo Rodan movie is MUCH needed! Talk about a creature that both Toho (for the past 40+ years) and the Monsterverse have pretty much under utilized. Unlike Godzilla who is an immediate threat in the coastal areas, a terrorizing flying monster is a threat EVERYWHERE! “A Quite Place” is a great example of such that premise. Yes, do a solo “Mothra” feature though, I am less enthusiastic about that one, and then eventually bring back Godzilla from “Minus One”, along with the other monsters fighting either Ghidrah, or a brand new creation. If Yamazaki wins the Academy Award, it is a good bet that Hollywood will come calling and offer a lot more money than Toho. Perhaps LucasFilm will want him for either a SW feature or a series, as George Lucas’ movies have been a big influence on him. Here is one movie that D-Man did not mention that I think could bring in the box-office in Japan - “Godzilla vs. Gamera”. Toho, let’s start negotiating with Kadokawa/ Daiei!
I’d love to see them skip ahead to the 60s/70s and bring in a classic opponent. Then the next movie could take place in the 90s with another rival, then one in the 2010s, and then end with a present-day movie, which at that point would take place in the 2030s.
Toho should follow up with another flashback movie. Main character of the sequel survived an assault by US island hoping forces in Odo Island by leading them to Godzillasaurus' nest as Godzillasaurus eliminates the US forces defending his family. Years later the bomb is dropped that kills his family & mutates Godzilla. Now thriving rebuilding Japan, the main character is haunted knowing why G hates Japan. Will he reveal he is the reason Japan is cursed? Will he sacrifice all he earned to save Japan?
If they were to continue Godzilla minus 1 as a universe I hope that they give a few other monsters some solo films first and build up to Godzilla's return as a villain I'm talking mostly monsters that can still have fairly grounded movies that could have some very strong messages to them such as mothra Rodan etc You can even have certain monsters share the film such as Rodan and varan and manda so long as it doesn't muddled the message of each move Then whenever Godzilla returns he needs to be villain even if we were to bring in Ghidorah (which if we did he might have to be kind of like the GM Ghidorah but also still villain) but in the end Godzilla still a villain through and through and will not coexist with anyone He could even be made so that Godzilla and Gilda are the only two unnatural monsters which is why they have such a heightened level of aggression they're not supposed to exist or be what they are
I don't like the Biollante idea. Its a plausible theory but I hope its not the case. It would turn it from a story of hope and redemption to a tragic tail of despair. A family restored only to be destroyed. Koishi loses his love and Akiko loses her mom again. Too sad to experience in a sequel. I would probably not watch it. The redemption story is what made Minus One so good. As quoted from Shawshank Redemption "Hope is a good thing...maybe the best of things." I would hope instead Noriko has a special connection to Godzilla that enables her to help defeat him . Perhaps Godzilla cells could be modified to act like a stem cell transplant for some remarkable purpose.
I feel like I don't want the monsterverse to end, but I will say if godzilla x Kong doesn't do too well, maybe the monsterverse should be put on hiatus for like 5 years and let them rework it, like, think about phase 2
I think having anguris is a no brained for this version of Godzilla. This version of Godzilla is much more dinosaurian than most and it makes the most sense that he’d be territorial because there are other creatures like him that would want a territory like Japan. Anguris is one of the more dinosaurian monsters Toho had that would fit with the tone of minus one
We also need some more Godzilla games. The Roblox games haven’t really scratched that itch cause they’re too grindy. Although I’m waiting to see how Save the Earth Melee and G-Fighter turn out.
I hope they do make a sequel to "Minus One" and I hope it's called, "Godzilla Minus Two: The Trench" lol. 🌊🚢🦞🦖😁👍🦈🐙🚤💥 (8:02) If Toho dose make another versus movie I honestly hope it's not King Ghidorah. While I understand he's obvious Godzillas most popular enemy and one of the more well known monsters in the series. But at the same time though Toho has a huge gallery of Monsters and if they keep using the same 5 or 6 monsters going forward its gonna feel repetitive. Unless they come up with a unique story thats different then their previous incarnations then maybe I'll be fine with that. 🌠🐲🤔🤷🎥🎞
If we get sequels to Minus One, I think there is a great way for Toho to bring the “serious” Godzilla fans and “goofy” Godzilla fans together. You can slowly change Godzilla into a hero, but keep the serious and dramatic tone of minus one, basically the Gamera trilogy lol. Yeah he’s be a hero, but he’s be more “Dark Knight” than Monsterverse Godzilla’s “Superman”.
here's the thing with toho. They seem allergic to "continuity" since the millenium era. While a shin sequel has not happened yet. Dont rule it out, they made millenium, then they followed with gmk then against mecha goddzilla and Tokio SOS... only to end it with final wars? And now the reiwa era has been all standalone outings so far. But that might change, nothing can truly be ruled out. The idea of giving yamazaki te reins of a solo G movie for the monsterverse is interesting.
I like your ideas except for the animated series and the Rodan standalone movie. I just don’t want or need that. Everything else is awesome and I hope will happen.
Right now, director Yamazaki is scratching his head: he's in negotiations with an actor with three heads to appear in the film. Each of these actors has a different idea of what he wants to do, and it's a difficult process 🐲🐲🐲🤷♂️
I don't think Toho should re-hash the past formula/monsters. We don't need Ghidorah, Mothra, or Rodan. Make a Godzilla Zero film with a new Kaiju antagonist.
If there's a sequel, they need to nerf tf out of the atomic breath for plot purposes like say the damage he took in first film affected his atomic breath
LOVED your ideas here, Dman! Thought they were all fantastic. Really big fan of letting Yamazaki direct a solo Godzilla MV film, as unlikely as that is. Also thought your idea for World of Godzilla is really interesting as well! keep up these great videos, you're on a roll
"Is it just that Godzilla’s a global superstar? Or is it that people are ready for monster movies again."
Holy shit that's a headline.🔥🦖
Hell yeah! lmao
Godzilla is king
You seriously read my mind, this video was my perspective on how Minus One could continue.
I think of it as three points where the story could end. Minus One being the first, the end of the trilogy being the second it keeps it grounded to the cradles of Minus One and just a little more with the extra kaiju in the mix. Finally the cinematic universe is where there is no bounds, in which it can end on a bombastic note.
If Minus One ever gets a sequel I don't think it should feature Shikishima and co. I feel like it would ruin an otherwise happy ending.
According to the director of Minus One; he explained he want those characters to return in the sequel to explore more of the Godzilla disease infecting Noriko.
@@kaiju-dr5qnI thought it was radiation poisoning
godzilla virus🤡 @@Jackuzi_
@@Jackuzi_ It is radiation poisoning. With a hint of Godzilla.
@@Jackuzi_ nope
But dude, I would say definitely pitch your ideas to toho, it’s great and a Godzilla minus one trilogy sounds fantastic, if they take there time which I think they will, I think toho has the chance to make something beautiful!
I have the idea of sequel set in Modern day Japan. Akiko is now a mother and grandmother and famous because of her father’s legacy of being war hero and defeating Godzilla. She is now a leader of Japan’s people. All is good right? No. Godzilla is back and he’s bigger and angrier than ever before.
I think it should take a place in late 2011 early 2012 which is not to long after the tohoku earthquake, so the setting will similarly be after an event the sent Japan into a zero state
Now this, this I have been waiting for for a while to be unleashed on the channel
same
I cannot remember who said this, but I saw on twitter for an idea for a Minus One Sequel that I think could have some interesting potential.
“Don’t let them fight!”
I can't wait for your pitch, might as well make it a pitch video for two films and continue your idea for a definitive trilogy!
That would feel kinda like Original GMK Plan
As Minus One character is kinda similar GMK one
I'd love to see Varan again as well, he's one of my favorites
I think the director said if he were to write a sequel he'd have Godzilla fight another monster, so Anguirus is possible for a sequel.
@@Yazz7878 would that just killed off every Kaiju there?
Honestly, some combo of all these ideas sounds like the way to go.
If it does become a trilogy, it could be the best films the franchise has to offer and its equivalent to the Heisei Gamera Trilogy!
agreed
I love the idea of Takashi directing a Goji monsterverse film and making a minus one trilogy. For minus 2 I'd love to see Varan and for minus 3 they could really go apocalyptic with the oxygen destroyer along with Destroyah or Bagan plus a few other kaiju. I'd also love to see Toho let Keneko of gmk direct another Goji film in the future too, Godzilla vs Gamera? The possibilities are endless
I absolutely agree 👍
Ye but with anguirus
@@pimpedworldful Yes that would be awesome too
A Trilogy with consistency tone, themes and style is All I Want.
LOVE your ideas!!!
Your ideas are genius!
In the Supreme Watermelon interview, Takashi Yamazaki stated that Godzilla will face off against a massive radioactive watermelon.
It Would really be cool if they went a different route and added another Godzilla to the franchise, Godzilla vs Godzilla
2/10/24
why did you add the date today lol and also i agree
Happy Lunar New Year, D-Man!🐉
I already explained my ideas for a Minus One sequel in a previous video so I won't repeat myself here. Its the Year of the Dragon and I'm very happy and excited about it 😁
lol hell yeah
Wsg d man very interesting let’s get to it 🎉
did you watch the video lmao
I still want a shin sequel someday.
Okay, I would die for a Godzilla Minus One vs Anguirus. I think Raids Again deserves a remake.
It would be amazing!
I love your ideas although i might use different monster's n do it a little different but still be very similar
Honestly after the king of the monsters hype I think that’s what a lot of people thought that this was the direction the mv was gonna go
First off, great video as always. Anyway onto my ideas:
First Idea: Revive the GODZILLA Script Writing Contest that brought us Godzilla V.
I would like the Minus One story to stay far more self contained. But I have no issues with them making a new spin on the Heisei series
I would like to see…
Movies:
1) Shin Godzilla: Apocalypse - Yes, with humanity dies at the end.
I just love it)
Anime:
1) Singular point: Season 2.
Id love to see Godzilla adapt to be able to use his atomic breathe more efficiently and longer duration like usual (I understood the reasoning for how it was used in minus one)
But id love to see a blend of how minus one charges up and how Tokyo sos Godzilla charged up liked the lights were flashing and you can hear the energy popping.
I agree
I like the idea of a trilogy and Godzilla fighting mutations of himself.
The G-Cells definitely do. That’s how Godzilla was able to regenerate throughout the film
I left this comment on your community post as well)
I would want to see a Godzilla show that is fun to watch like GODZILLA THE SERIES cartoon.
I like this, Varan needs some love!
We need Anguirus to return in a main monster role. It's too fitting, with Godzilla Raids Again
yeahh idk how to feel about that. I want something new instead of that
15:55 so your basically doing the Showa era but with a bigger budget
Gamera”. Toho, let’s start negotiating with Kadokawa/ Daiei!
i agree
If they were to continue Godzilla minus 1 as a universe I hope that they give a few other monsters some solo films first and build up to Godzilla's return as a villain
I'm talking mostly monsters that can still have fairly grounded movies that could have some very strong messages to them such as mothra Rodan etc
You can even have certain monsters share the film such as Rodan and varan and manda so long as it doesn't muddled the message of each move
Then whenever Godzilla returns he needs to be villain even if we were to bring in Ghidorah (which if we did he might have to be kind of like the GM Ghidorah but also still villain) but in the end Godzilla still a villain through and through and will not coexist with anyone
He could even be made so that Godzilla and Gilda are the only two unnatural monsters which is why they have such a heightened level of aggression they're not supposed to exist or be what they are
Tbh we’re definitely due for a modern Mothra movie. Honestly feel it can be just as emotional as Minus 1 if done properly
I would like to see (mostly) Benevolent Kaiju in Modern time
I hope we get Godzilla fighting another monster we haven’t gotten one like that from Toho in a really long time.
20 years now actually, with final wars being the last one
jeez@@Gojilynx
Yes bioethics, great minds think alike!
Nice shirt
The Godzilla Minus One sequel has already been released. It’s called Gojira and came out almost 70 years ago.
Dude did you do your research? Minus one is reboot, meaning it isn't connected with Gojira or any movie
If Yamazaki wants to make a sequel, let him do it.
I honestly have no thoughts, but maybe Toho should bring this film to the rest of Asia for me to actually see it to have some thoughts
Anguris is one of the more dinosaurian monsters Toho had that would fit with the tone of minus one
or rodan
I would love to see Rodan get a solo film
Waiting for Ultraseven Plus One 😂
if We do Get a Godzilla Anime,
I hope Studio Trigger are going to be the one behiden it, anyone else agree with me here?
do you think the sequel gxk will be another godzilla and kong sequel?
Funfact: Yamazaki wants to work on a star wars film. as we all know that would end very well
The poor man has no idea what he would be getting into! That fan base is too rabid. But I do feel he would make an amazing Star Wars film.
5:16 Well good thing I made my short video what if Toho or Kadokawa collab with Studio Ghibli

We also need some more Godzilla games. The Roblox games haven’t really scratched that itch cause they’re too grindy. Although I’m waiting to see how Save the Earth Melee and G-Fighter turn out.
we definitely need more godzilla games
I still want a sequel to Shin over anything else, I know its not coming but still
I hope they do make a sequel to "Minus One" and I hope it's called, "Godzilla Minus Two: The Trench" lol. 🌊🚢🦞🦖😁👍🦈🐙🚤💥
(8:02) If Toho dose make another versus movie I honestly hope it's not King Ghidorah. 🌠🐲🤔🤷🎥🎞
I’d love to see a minus one sequel and give Godzilla’s allies and enemies there own solo movie before they all crossover with each other
That would be epic
Where is that anime Godzilla scenes from with the Showa styles Ghidorah and Mothra from?
If they do a Minus One sequel, they should introduce Mothra
maybe
If we get sequels to Minus One, I think there is a great way for Toho to bring the “serious” Godzilla fans and “goofy” Godzilla fans together. You can slowly change Godzilla into a hero, but keep the serious and dramatic tone of minus one, basically the Gamera trilogy lol. Yeah he’s be a hero, but he’s be more “Dark Knight” than Monsterverse Godzilla’s “Superman”.
i see what you're trying to say
I hate toho after the Kaiju Universe incident
A Minus One Trilogy similar to the heisei Gamera Trilogy
🤦🏿♂️I really need someone to hire you for a Godzilla movie💪🏿🔥💯
Ikr!
I’d take a sequel.
here's the thing with toho.
The idea of giving yamazaki te reins of a solo G movie for the monsterverse is interesting.
yeah, you never know what's gonna be next
I mean Final Wars is Bombed box office and combined with Toho want to do something else
Also thought your idea for World of Godzilla is really interesting as well! keep up these great videos, you're on a roll
i agree
