    This video was extremely helpful. Thank you and my deepest condolences.Sometimes it's truly hard to cope with life especially when you are surrounded by insensitive people and unexpected life events. Also you get so disappointed how people choose to spread hate and criticism more than love and comfort. Yet again thank you so much.

      Ana miel I know what you mean. But don't let those people determine your happiness. You control your own happiness :) i made a personal view of happiness on my channel. Why we need to stop looking for it and just be. Stay happy and look at things differently

      I couldn't agree more with this, you need to really love and learn to surround yourself with positive people and positive emotions. I have found it very useful in the last 8 months of my life and the benefits are starting to reveal themselves. It is hard work to change your mindset and reprogram your brain like this, but I managed to get good at this by reading a lot from people who have done this and succeeded. These books jump.blinkist.com/SHgn helped me a lot to progress in staying positive and confident. I found a lot of best-selling books here that are transformed into powerful packs you can read or listen to in 15 minutes. Good luck to all of you and lots of love!

    A beautiful japanese friend, a professor of anthropology, observed that we cannot achieve a state of happiness, but we can experience many happy moments. I liked that.

      Once you believe you can't achieve a state of happiness You automatically constrain yourself Because the state of happiness is a byproduct of your perceptions. Happiness/Contentment/Peace is "How you THINK about what the world gives you'
      and not about 'what the world gives you'. You have power over your mind and How you THINK. This doesnt mean you forcefully change how you THINK about what the world gives you because this is going against the truth and will supress your discontentment instead of allowinh it to pass through you it by accepting how you feel. You have to be sincere to how you feel in order to be able to change your perceptions naturally. It starts by watching how you are feeling through awareness... In a way its about reprogramming your perceptions which can only be done through awareness and letting go of trying to control everything and letting go of worry about what happened in the past or what will happen in the future. Do not constrain yourself. We are unbounded. But dont put 'trying to acheive happiness" on a pedastool, just simply watch your thoughts and accept them. This is the development of Awareness

    Sounds like a marriage of stoic and epicurean philosophy. Align you expectations with the realities of nature and you can never be disappointed (stoicism) + surround yourself with and appreciate the seemingly smallest of delights like a meager meal with good company (epicureanism).

    "Happiness is about what you think about what the world gives you" -> so happiness is about changing our perspective; if we can convince ourselves to think differently to be happy, it seems to me that happiness is an illusion. Yet one might argue that it may be the best form of an illusion... But then I'd argue that it still is an illusion.
    Great video though, made me to think about this.

    Mo is coping with the bereavement in his own way and that is admirable. I agree with his points about the differences of happiness and fun, but I don't think that it is a mathematical equation that we need to find happiness, but more an acceptance of how life really is.

    If your calculations, your equations and formulae, your flowcharts, spreadsheets and diagrams with circles and arrows indicate you have to re-engineer your hard-wired circuitry, interpret your meta, decode your life encryptions and apply an algorithm to happiness.....you're ready for your chip. It's a Brave New Happy World.

    • @borntodoit8744
      @borntodoit8744 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @dr4aces. You certainly didn't understand the lesson...
      The fact is he DID explain the equation ( *HAPPINES = WHAT U DO less HOW U FEEL ABOUT WHAT U DO/U EXPERIENCE* ).
      You felt negative cos u wanted to know more.
      he explained well (so that's not the issue...we all got it from video)
      Suggest u stop and think how u feel then change the way u feel ( before saying u didn't like it ).
      You have a choice how u feel.
      Usually starts with being more informed...
      If this video didn't explain enough, look at his other videos, his books, discuss with friends..look for more clues elsewhere just don't go negative in the moment.
      I personally looked at equation said..that's cool...
      So u can be happier "if u do more things" and
      u can be happier "by reducing ur expectations of things"
      Less expectation means less disappointment.
      Talk about meaning of life "light bulb" moments ...this is so true!
      I've lived by this equation 25 years without knowing the equation...it's got me thru bad times and good. It works looking back this is how I cope ( to be less expectful). These days I think like a lucky millionaire but that's another conversation!
      In other words he means
      *
      Everything makes u happy or sad...
      Try to collect positive experiences
      Try to reject negative experiences especially ur own negative thoughts.
      *
      It is possible to be happy no matter how bad things get u will get thru to happy again.
      Peace out!

    very true came to this conclusion from my own learnings at least other people agree and are spreading awareness happiness is not over there or outside it is a state of being with in. it is always with us it is just shadowed by our misperception of something that we expected to be other than it was. you have three choices..
    accept something as it is
    leave
    do something about it
    all else is madness (unsure where I got this) it remembered it off the top of my head
    so complaining or winging is a waste becoming a victim to circumstances is also a waste .
    let it go
    blessings

    The HAPPINESS reports - aren't really about being happy happy, but about how much TRUST there is between people, to institutions, in politics, healthcare system, education and so forth. The more trust, the happier a nation - which explains why the Scandinavian countries are measured as the HAPPIEST nations - which is not entirely true, as many suffer from depressions, but still have some faith in the system - hence less worries, less survival mode, less time spend on lies and corruptions and betrayals.

    There is no formula to happiness. Looking for happiness in possessions is not possible: Happiness can be present even if the person has nothing and lives in abject poverty. This formula is totally flawed:
    Happiness is being contented with anything or everything you have. Not having something should have no effect on happiness.
    It is a state of mind not a state of ownership:
    The glass contains water. How much is irrelevant. Comparison to the volume of water in the glass is all about the value of possessions and what is missing. Nothing is missing. All is as it should be. You have what you need at any time in your life.
    Comparisons are harmful
    Wanting is harmful
    Punishing yourself or blaming others because you have nothing is harmful
    Accepting what you have and being grateful is enlightening and frees you. Happiness exudes from this.
    You can be happy anywhere anytime no matter what.

    There are many kinds of happiness. One is peace. One is the temporary happiness of fun. Another is orgasm. There is drugs, cigarettes, lotteries, but most happiness wears off. The true happiness is in the breath, at peace, not "happy" from fortunate circumstances.

Aligning your reason and passions with logos (stoicism) so that you can temper your negative reactions with logical understanding of the precarious nature of the universe, combined with the philosophy of finding delight in the smallest of pleasures like a having a meal with good company (epicureanism).

      Happiness isn't a choice. It is an ability of perception. The choice is in perception. Happiness is the bi-product of your perceptions.

    • @cliffwebb2017
      @cliffwebb2017 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fear is a state of mind. And panic. Are those choices? Can you say to someone having a panic attack "hey, choose not to panic"? Of course not. If people could easily "choose" themselves out of mind states, they would. They can't. Hence happiness may well be a state of mind, but don't assume it's a choice at all.

    • @JamesSaukila
      @JamesSaukila 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, maybe I simplified that too much. Happiness is a state of mind based on your perception but that perception is a choice? You cannot always be happy that's a fact, you should rightly feel every emotion but if happiness is an option to choose from, chose it!
