Thank you for the comment. I do love the first Pink Floyd album, the way Syd's guitar is drenched in echo, I played the Vox through a 60's valve copycat. You can see it on my Keith Smart web site. Cheers Keith
For what it's worth- there are loads of UK phantoms that didn't have the truss adjuster at the headstock and a cover. That happened later. The 61-65 examples had the truss at the heel and no zero fret.
Hi Keef, I'm considering buying a Vox Phantom from a company here in America. Haven't picked up a guitar since 1979 - but I know this is the one I will play catch up on.
Fantastic Demo Keith! Really love the Who stuff ... and the robot at the end ...is there some reason why this guitar sounds so British? (Maybe the fact that it is a British guitarist playing a B ritish Guitar through a British amp... :) Loved the demo, lots of fun...
Great guitars to play. My original was Italian built (with ZERO fret), love this U.K. model.Stays in tune, a cross between a Strat and a Rick to my ears. There are a lot of Vox copies, some built using old Vox bodies/ necks. They don't sound the same. I owned an American built Vox, but didn't like that. Vox don't own the name TEAR DROP or PHANTOM any longer. They are now owned by Phantom works in America. I have not tried any of their guitars, but have heard good reports about them. Cheers Keith
Vox really made really good guitars back in the days they can make them today and they could build them in China or Japan and they could probably build a really good guitars that they wanted to I don’t know what the problem is I know I would buy the Guitars
The Vox amp is a recent Pathfinder model (transistor). It has been voiced to sound like a vintage Vox. If it sounds a little like your Pacemaker model, they have made a good job of it.

Great demo! This guitar is absolutely beautiful and I love this very vintage sound.
beautiful rendition of astronomy domine! awesome guitar, thanks for sharing it with us.
Vox Phantom, the real 60s psycho-garage-punk guitar. The Rudy Protrudi (The Fuzztones) favourite guitar.
I had a Phantom VI. The bridge pickup can not be duplicated by any other guitar.

Very nice---Keith
Jimmy Oage uses this when he was in The Yardbirds ...
Yes, Page's Vox was the 12 string version. It was sold to the Hard Rock cafe. Jimmy managed to get it back a few years ago.
Remind me to The Beatles :-) :-) very nice

Ian Curtis played one
spinetta!!!
Mine had a detachable pad on the rear . Regrettably sold it on 1978 . Was in perfect condition . Any idea of its worth these days ?
Thanks , NJ , USA.
+machia0705 Mine had a pad on the back too. I would value these guitars between 1000 and 1500 pounds.
You could probably get about $2300 on the market today

Was it possible on these to balance the pickup selector in an in-between position, like the 3-way switch tricks on the old Strats?
Don't forget this is the rare U.K. built model. They sell for circa 1000 pounds.
The Amplifier makes me quite curious... Is that a Thomas Organ SS model? I have a '66 Pacemaker that sounds much like this.
