Starting off with DNK, that's the second best way I've seen it mixed on the quads and I LOVED IT ALREADY!! Best I've ever seen was a former drum major I knew who kicked everyone's ass on every type of percussion we had. Made over 5 cadences a season using even the full quints often. Masterclass. He deserves better snares. I strictly learned through sound for quads then learned how to create as well, so we'd all switch around (2 main snares and myself) to make more complex snare pieces or better fills on certain songs. Now 6 years removed, our drumline is very meh these days. And we've tried teaching them but they don't have much confidence so it's a process of building them up while also showing them the rops 1v1. Hope this quad is doing alright in life!

Just saying, this band is from Maryland, where bands and stuff really are NOT a big deal, so funding wise, participation wise, and skill wise, this is definitely one of the best bands in their county. Same with football, and they have the best football team too so there is some correlation. Keep having fun guys and rockin’ out!

There is really no point to playing traditions unless you are using a strap. Most high schools don't play traditional because they use a harness. Only DCI really plays traditional with harness because it just looks fancier to be honest.
Really. Around where I lived in Ohio, are drum instructor has us use match grip for our shows because that judges take off 5 points for traditional grip. Personally I like traditional a lot more, I think we would use it if it weren't for the loss of points. Did your marching band do show?
Macky yeah in Michigan we were in MCBA so we were always in competitions. I was on tenors all of high school and section leader and all that good stuff but not really sure why some schools do and don't. I don't think we get docked points for our grip

Will this be difficult? I can’t even read sheet music. But I just, Ive never wanted to learn anything as much as I do now since ive started to become fascinated with marching band and instruments. I did try drumline but was cut for obvious reasons, which I understand completely. I’m trying to gain enough knowledge by next years try outs. Can this be done? Josh Bob As a quints player myself, it’s not very easy, even at an advanced level to stay in front of the center of the drum while marching, especially when your BD doesn’t let you look down.

You're really good at quads but everyone needs to practice marching together more.
Being in pep has made me breathe harder and sweat so much more than any sport has, so it's definitely not easy

So cool! I’m thinking about getting into drumming, but I’m already a high school freshman and I have absolutely no experience whatsoever. I’ve never been in band, or played drums before. Will this be difficult? I can’t even read sheet music. But I just, Ive never wanted to learn anything as much as I do now since ive started to become fascinated with marching band and instruments. I did try drumline but was cut for obvious reasons, which I understand completely. I’m trying to gain enough knowledge by next years try outs. Can this be done? I need advice and I’d appreciate some suggestions! Thank you

yeah did you? im a freshman that just started drumline with no experience and im just as happy and able to learn the drums, since the basics and spirit is most of what you need for hs drumline

Snares were bad and the quad player was good but needs to work on his zones
Josh Bob As a quints player myself, it’s not very easy, even at an advanced level to stay in front of the center of the drum while marching, especially when your BD doesn’t let you look down.
@@brandongrass2726 I feel you man I'm an 8th grade quad player my BD said I'm close to passing the high schoolers in levels bc I practice so much lol
