I live in Inman SC my whole life ( I’m 56). I love it here, we’re not poor , stupid, and on drugs! We may not all live wealthy ( I certainly don’t) but we try.The people are nice and friendly. I’m proud to be a South Carolinian
We lived in SC for two years while going to school. Great people, made some wonderful friends. Charleston is amazing, a must visit. It’s very affordable in SC but there are also a lot of poor areas. It is very hot in the summer, but it’s a beautiful state.
Live in Columbia all my life. Hot hot and hot summers (humidity), but I am used to it. The ideas and speed of Columbia is "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Very slow to catch on compared to the neighboring city of Charlotte NC. Always behind because no one wants to change overall. Now to add to the Charleston comment, it is a beautiful city BUT it is expensive to live there!!!! Charleston and Myrtle Beach have the highest taxes in the state. Greenville has the lowest! Can you believe that?? I plan to move to Greenville as we have had earthquakes (4 or more) in the past week! Yes Columbia SC has had a total of 32 since last year. I cannot believe this.
I visited South Carolina for the first time a week ago, stayed in Charleston for a week and absolutely loved it there. I also went to Sullivan Island and Folly Beach, it was my first time visiting an east coast beach. I fell in love with those beaches, not only are they stunningly beautiful but the ocean is warm. We spent a couple hours on the beach in Sullivan Island and people just seemed happy, it was great to see. People in general were really nice and friendly everywhere we went. Being from Northern CA, you don't get that too often. Or happy people. I would love to see more of the state someday.
It's a fun state, and used to visit frequently. I am also from California, but never really say anything as many are not thrilled about people from CA in general. There are exceptions though.
The south Atlantic has beautiful white sand beaches and subtropical islands but the rest of the east coast doesnt look that way. Up north and in the mid Atlantic the beaches are similar to the beaches in Los Angeles except without the majestic tall palm trees.
We've lived in Florence, SC for almost 25 years now. We have grown to love the area and I was pleaantly surprised when I heard not one, but two nearby towns listed. Usually, these lists are dominated by Charleston, Greenville and Columbia areas.
I live in Anderson which is in the Upstate, not too far from Walhalla. I was born and raised in Anderson and I'm 53 years old. All of the towns and cities in the Upstate are fantastic places to live. The Blue Ridge Mountains are no more than an hour away, the people are friendly, the scenery is nice, and the climate is generally quite good. As for crime, I know that some towns may have higher than average ratings. But to be honest, most of those crimes are committed by people on their own acquaintances. In other words, if you hang out with criminals, don't be surprised when you are robbed! I personally have never had a single issue.
I agree the people in Anderson are very nice and I’ve also never experienced anything crime related even in the more rundown areas, Ik it’s there for sure but like you said it depends on the people you’re with.
We probably went to school together. Hail TL. (Hanna) Used to have a family cabin in Mountain Rest up above Hogwaller , (take the right at Cuzzins store) across from Camp Crystal Lake... We used that to keep the honeys close after we lied and said Friday the 13th was based on it! 😂
Hogwaller! You're too funny. I haven't heard anyone use that term in years. Yes I went to Hanna. So yep, it sounds like we did go to school together. Yeah man, I always thought the Camp Crystal Lake thing was funny as hell too. I was class of 87. Went on to Clemson afterwards. How about you?
@@charlesk5040 Clemson 87' but was told Mr Holder you need to actually attend class, to which I said but I'm majoring in Bacardi 101 at TTT every night... Ended up at Tri County Tech majoring in Radio and TV. Stint in the Army then a poli sci degree from FSU, ( Fairmont State University, WV) Back in Anderson now.
Understood. I've done my share of majoring in Bacardi 101 as well. It's all good. Speaking of Hanna, I drove past our old alma mater twice today. The old Hanna - I can't get used to calling it McCants! It looks the same as it always did. I assume you went to the old McCants as well? What a dump! My youngest son is still in high school. He can't believe that the old McCants was the "rich kids" junior high school! Ha.
From the Clemson area of South Carolina, had to move to Michigan years ago and it took two years to get back home. Ended up in the North Augusta/Edgefield area and we LOVE it here. In two hours, you can get to the beach, the mountains, or Atlanta. We live right across the Savannah river from Augusta, GA which has a lot of cool stuff happening due to the cyber security work that is part of Fort Gordon.
@@teresabrown9171 I love it here.... great people, great weather (most of the time) - it gets hot in the Summer, but that's typical of the South. I don't feel unsafe walking downtown or pretty much anywhere I go. What specific things do you want to know?
South Carolina is horrible. I live here. Trust me, your state is better. Nobody move here. There is no reason to move here. It is so bad. I just hate it so much. PLEASE don't move here.
I just saw this, and am proud to say my town made one of your videos in a positive manner. I've moved to Walhalla in 2000 and have been here ever since. The pictures you used in this video don't do Main Street justice, a lot of work has been done to upgrade and it shows when you drive through.
We’ve lived in bluffton for decades; it’s gone from under 1,000 residents to pushing 20k. You are spot on about everything, except the internet struggles here with such fast growth. Fabulous video!
Strange fact. The family who owned Hargray actually had to sell because of too much growth. Everything was big expense up front, that will pay off down the road but there is a point you come to where the debt load is just too much. Also I think they lost their ass buying spectrum for cell phones, Hargray cell phone did not make money. LOL, oh well doesn't have to do with me directly.
I agree with your review of Walhalla (My home town) but you might also want to mention nearby Lake Keowee. Think living on the water just minutes from the mountains.
I lived in Beaufort SC for three years in the early 1970s. I absolutely loved it. Great weather and beautiful people. Lots of places to explore and the sea Islands are incredible.
As a kansas boy who recently moved to upstate south carolina. I gotta say it's the best place I've ever lived. Job options are everywhere. The price of living is fairly decent. The homes are beautiful for the most part. And all the available land is more than perfect for all my fur babies. And so many great places to do some toy photography. My only gripe being from Kansas is all of the hills. I'm used to flat lands. But I'll get used to them soon.
@@our.secret1130 I mean like all the land we live on like I live on a full acre. Didnt have that luxury back home in Kansas. Unless you lived on a farm.
SOUTH CAROLINA IS A BEAUTIFUL STATE AND WE LIKE IT JUST THE WAY IT IS, IF YOU MOVE HERE FROM ONE OF THOSE BIG BLUE CITIES THAT'S FINE BUT LEAVE YOUR LIBERAL IDEAS THERE, YOU RUINED THOSE STATES DONT TRY AND RUIN MINE!!!!
Bluffton is basically a large retirement community with alot of snowbirds, but it is a very nice place to visit on the way to or from Hilton Head because there are lots of places for shopping including an outlet mall. I used to live in the same county and have a friend who lives right next to Bluffton so I used to go to Bluffton and Hilton Head alot.
Bluffton proper actually has a bunch of children and families. You are right, out in Jasper county is God's waiting room also known as Sun City and a couple of other places but Bluffton isn't as old as you make it seem.
I grew up in a small town in SC. The high crime rates he mentioned at the beginning don’t tell the whole story. Crime and safety are not the same in SC. You have to consider WHO commits it to whom. Take mur*der for example. SC criminals typically don’t kill outsiders, only people they know, usually their family members. The same crime rate in a New Jersey town would spell danger indeed. The same principle holds true with theft. They won’t pick-pocket random strangers who might have conceal carry permits; they’ll break into their aunt’s house for drug money.
Ppl say this 😂 all this time. I do understand it. After covid, my home state had an influx of too many ppl to support, with mental and physical health care, hugely under funded schools. In contrast the housing market jacked up 80--EIGHTY--PERCENT higher than they were and in tandem with that we saw rent hit thr roof--and the landlords turn into commercial folks who are not in state and have no idea what the area is really like--median income is 40 k absolute highest--with rent for a 2 bedroom crap hole being 1800/2 K, minus the exorbitant cost of heat in a cold state. All of this effectively pushed out older and younger ppl who couldn't pay for their homes and apartments. Idiotic taxes in NH, like the "view" tax. If you can see the tip of a skiing peak? Really? What if I'm blind?! Just tax tax tax. But call it beautiful, tax-free NH. Live free or die. Live expensively or die. Homelessness is pretty impossible with 20 below and noreaster weather. Sigh. I can tell I'm getting old.
@kevinwhelehan421 haha. Not surprised a true SC person would sound so welcoming. So far we've met nothing but sweethearts. Such a stark contrast from my home state
@@Americafirst-i8q But within very easy driving distance to Augusta and Columbia. Easy to get to the beaches and mountains, too. Small town living with large city access!
Great job as usual. I was raised in SC and I love it but it has it’s problems. I live about 30 miles south of Charlotte NC and we do have a crime problem. I can vouch for Wallhalla . It’s a great place as is most of the western side of the state. A place on the coast that is off the beaten path is a little place called McClellanville, which is a little place where some shrimp boats dock. I think the common description would be “quaint”.
Knowing the people that live there, I think a housing development would be the last thing they would want. I would love to live there too but paradise should never be crowded.
Who wants to fish for garr? Ugh. 😂 If you go a bit larger than Bluffton, you might really enjoy Aiken, SC. Beautiful downtown with locally owned shops, scenic views, largest privately owned urban forest in US, lots of horses, access to golf courses, easy access to health care. Great history here! Be sure to include the free trolley ride on a Saturday morning to take in some of the fun, historic points of our little city. 💗
I live in the city of Myrtle Beach. Traffic's not bad. I am near the Coastal Grand, Market Common, Broadway at Beach, and the Boardwalk. Also, Surfside, where the traffic is getting outrageous!
Nice video! I've lived here for 50 years and all the places you listed are good choices. By the way, SC had more Revolutionary War battles than any other state!
So I live in the Coward area. Around here and Pamplico are pretty great areas to move to. On internet the best of the best your gonna get out here, other then in town, is around 100mbps down and around 10-50 up for the best plan. One of the main isps is farmers telephone company and they very rarely drop service, also waaay better then spectrums service (its terrible here). In terms of hospitals, dont go to lakecity for any MAJOR emergencies, just go to mcload or musc. if your looking for a good family doctor, PD family practice in lakecity is pretty good, I went there my whole life.
great video man but i live in a small town called elgin sc that is a great place i’ve seen no known problems for crime and it’s just a very charming area. shout out to you tho for making this vid
I live in SC and love it. I was raised in fort mill SC and then I moved to one of the top 5 worst towns (it was on another TH-cam video 😅) a couple of towns over in SC to Lancaster. I still love where I live and love my neighborhood. I haven’t experienced any of the crime that goes on in my town luckily. I sometimes stay in Bluffton when I want to go to Hilton Head on a budget. It’s a beautiful town.
We moved to Bluffton from NorCal 2 years ago. (Population is 28,000 now BTW Briggs🤓) Best move we ever made. We’re retired and there’s lots of retirees living here. Most people are just plain friendly everywhere ya go. There’s beaches, restaurants, and plenty of medical care all over. Houses are a lot more expensive than 2 years ago, but still worth it compared to places like Sacramento. Weather is like the Caribbean. If you don’t like this place I don’t know what you’re looking for…
My family and I live in Walhalla. Love living in the mountains of SC! We feel it is a great town. We can be in North Carolina or Georgia in a small amount of time.
I was born in Charleston, all my relatives are buried near there, SC is "home", but: fire ants, alligators, humidity, mostly flat, ... I could go on... I was the only one ink the family who got out and now live in Washington state, so beautiful, but no history and not "home". I will return one day. I am 67.
Same. Born and raised in Charleston, SC. I always knew I was going to leave when I got older. Being away from home, made me appreciate the beauty of the city. At age 36, I’m moving back home next month.
As someone interested in possible relocation in the next few years (once the crazy housing market calms down), I think small towns are a bit too small. I don't want to be out in the sticks - but I wouldn't mind being able to see them. I'm thinking on the edge of major metros or medium-sized towns/small cities within an hour of a major metro - ideally in a low-tax burdened state/location with a nice climate. I'm currently in the Hunter's Creek area of Orlando, FL - I love the weather for the most part, but would not mind being a bit further out as long as I could have solid, high speed internet (remote worker). Some areas I've been considering in the area include Clermont, Davenport, Haines City, and Lakeland. Just tired of the postage sized lots - need something I can let my dog run around in and still have room for a pool.
Love your channel. I can’t believe my hometown made the list (Walhalla). Haven’t lived there in a while but it is very reminiscent of small towns of days gone by.
I live in Clover, SC. The problem with crime rates and small towns is it only takes a few to throw the stats way out of wack. Google Fiber is in part of the town but the neighborhood I live in only has Spectrum at 300 Mbps.
the biggest problem with Sc is that it's full, over full really . you guys wouldn't like it here . too hot, too humid, too many bugs, snakes are everywhere
Simpsonville is a nice town. I lived there for 18 years. It really grew in that time. I would even recommend the subdivision we lived in. It is called Neely Farm. If you are raising children, its all about kids. Olympic size swimming pool, big playground, tennis courts, hiking trail, large area for any ball sports. Schools are great, you got every store and restaurant just about. Movie theater, etc. Great 5g internet with Spectrum. Lots of factories for well paying work nearby. We moved when we retired to downsize a little and get outside of the busy scene. It really started booming. In Greenville , the hospital system is great and it spread out with hospitals all around. Lots of family docs. Not sure what the crime rate is there, but we never heard about anything in our neighborhood. Worth checking out if you’re looking to move to SC
@@SemperFi_EDC_Guy Yeah, prices are going up everywhere surrounding Greenville. Greer, Travelers Rest, Spartanburg, Simpsonville etc. Check out places like Pickens or Cleveland, places that are farther from Greenville if you're looking for somewhere that isn't getting built up with newer housing developments
It’s beautiful geographically. I just wish I could find somewhere that was untouched . I aim aiming for Greenbank WV one day. Thanks for sharing. In my head it’s all beach and cities in SC.
Ok Mr Briggs Ii looked into it and figured out how to smash that like button while I'm watching your videos on my TV so I will be smashing it every time I watch.♡
Lived in SC most of my life Georgetown SC is a charming coastal town. Plenty of bars and restaurants on the waterfront. Also, Anderson SC in the mountains. Charming and Beautiful scenery. We have friends who moved from New England area to SC. They said houses cost over $1 mil there and they got a big lakefront home for $400 k in Florence SC. As far as crime, there have been shootings and drugs in the last few years. But that's everywhere really.
@@nedhill1242 . It isn't far from Table Rock State Park. Foothills .... Mountains.... Still a beautiful place and is not "crime ridden or a place of poverty"
@@nedhill1242 . A foothill is a hilly region at the base of a mountain range as defined by Merriam Webster. The point of my comments was in response to the TH-cam user stating SC is a poverty state, particularly Anderson SC and that you "shouldn't move to SC". Clemson graduate? I can see that. Did they teach how to use that arrogance to read a dictionary?
@@MsMoosieify What are you talking about. You’re all over the map in this comment. First he didn’t say you shouldn’t move to South Carolina because of poverty. He said a lot of small towns in South Carolina. Have a lot of poverty. I actually the south does have a lot of poverty because following the Civil War, the United States, government intentionally punished South Carolina and the rest of the south. The depression was especially hard on the south. The south did not start truly recovering from the Civil War until World War II. South Carolina also has a lot of poverty because like all southern states almost 1/3 of the population is minorities. If you go to places like California and New York or Michigan, Wisconsin, New Jersey, any other very blue state when you look at the counties with the most poverty they’re always the counties with the highest percentage of minorities. And I’m not sure why you’re getting so upset about the COM yet because by definition, Anderson Clemson, Greenville Spartanburg, or not in the mountains. That section of South Carolina is actually called the foothills. If you cross into South Carolina on interstate 85 from either Georgia or North Carolina the first exit will take you to South Carolina 11, which is also called the Cherokee’s foothill Trail. That starts getting you into the edge of the mountains in South Carolina. You I always love when people like you respond to comments and feel it’s necessary to insult someone. I’ll put my IQ and my success in life up against you any day. Clemson is in fact a very good university. I have a BS and finance and an MBA. I will absolutely put my IQ education and life success up against you. Because, intelligent educated people don’t need to resort to insults. Unless they graduated from the University of South Carolina. But then they’re still not educated. Clearly you’re triggered, but you might want to stick to the facts because nothing you posted was factual. And my post that you felt you had to attack was in fact completely accurate. Yours. Neither one of them. We’re accurate. Now I suggest you go away and quit because you already behind. More posting on your part will only dig the hole deeper. But since you’re not smart enough to have self-awareness you will probably foolishly comment again.
@@MsMoosieify Again. I didn’t say there was poverty. That’s the video not me. Also, I aware it’s close to table rock. I didn’t say it was not far from the mountains. That’s the definition of foothills. There at the base of mountains. Seriously, you’re not very intelligent and you really need to stop commenting. All you’re doing is making yourself look dumber. And yes, it is beautiful and I love that part of the state. I love all of South Carolina. I’m from the Lowcountry and went to college at Clemson. All of South Carolina is beautiful. But again we do have a lot of poverty like all of the southern states, do because of demographics, and because of what happened following the Civil War. But none of that has anything to do with the stupid comments you’re making. And you clearly have zero ability to read and comprehend because you’re making comments that I did not make. You’re saying I stated things that I did not.

Born in Charlesto did military time in Cheyenne Wyo left ther moved to Medina Oh for 25yrs back to Moncks Corner great town 3 minutes to lake or river 45 minutes to the beach pleanty of fishing and hunting glade I came home
Pimlico gets a thumbs down for all the power lines being above ground hanging from telephone poles. During hurricane Ian , Plimco lost electricity for two days. We lost power for only four hours. Crowfield Plantation did not loose electricity due to their close proximity to BEC.
You didn't mention Inman, north of Spartanburg. 15 minutes to the NC border and mountains. I lived on Hilton Head for 8 years. 3 golf courses there? I beg to differ. I lived in HH Plantation, which has at least 3 courses by itself. I would guess that there are at least 25 to 35 courses on that island.
Im from myrtle beach but raised in Miami but moved back to Myrtle beach and left for Raleigh NC and been here since but never go to loris SC hospital I never knew anyone to survive a serious injury im my 40yrs my brother had internal bleeding in his stomach and they didn't give a x-ray and told him he was backed and needed to use the bathroom and after still feeling bad we found out from a different hospital in whiteville NC he had internal bleeding and would have died before the day was out
Oh yea, I had to drive from Myrtle beach to Columbia and it sent me on that highway, so few cars and so many long straightaways, have to be careful but I guess if you live there it’s not bad
I've been looking in Sumter, Dalzell, Greenwood, Newberry, Gaffney, Cheraw, Manning and Florence. But the houses I get interested in all get sold within a week of being listed. :-(
id look around the Florence and Darlington area down to around Lakecity close to highway 52. pretty descent areas to live in with a good amount of amenities that you wouldnt get from some of the smaller towns. I wouldnt move to manning depending on your profession. Manning is still heavy on blue collar jobs and I havent seen a lot of growth there. my grandma lives there and it looks the same today as it did 10 almost 20 years ago
I grew up in Greenwood, SC. I moved to Spartanburg because it's safer... People in SC will get the joke. You can't move to Gaffney unless you love football. Newberry is a small college town with a charming downtown area.
@@sirkrow7118 I've checked those areas. Haven't seen anything that interests me yet. I'm on disability so a job doesn't matter. But I do need a retina specialist. Since I can't drive anymore, I'd like to find one that is fairly close.
Greetings Briggs, Im an RN in Baltimore thinking very seriously about relocating to NC or SC (Im SOOO sick of the snow up here in winter!) Thanks for the info!
Do it! I lived all over Anne Arundel County for half my life and Baltimore city for the other half. I'm 35, moved 2 years ago just north of Greenville SC closer to the mountains/ NC border. I'm so much happier down here. The mountain range blocks a lot of the snow storms from coming south which are usually pretty mild anyway. People are much nicer, the air is cleaner, no traffic until you go into Greenville "city" or Asheville and both are beautiful quaint and just pleasant to visit (I'd compare both slightly to Annapolis without the politicians boaters and less tourists). Also SC has much lower taxes and cost of living than NC. When I got my first paycheck I was surprised how much less SC takes out in taxes compared to MD. I lucked out and found a dream spot, my rent is $800 a month for a small 2 bedroom house on 2 acres of land with no close neighbors. Prices have gone up in the 2yrs I've been here so I'd plan the move sooner than later and good luck on your search!
I live in Lexington SC and I want to be in Hendersonville/Brevard NC area. If you like the mountains, western NC is where it’s at. If you like the mountains and the beach, Columbia SC area is 2 hours from the mountains and 2 hours from the beach :)
The reason everyone thinks that the revolutionary war was fought and won in New England is because nothing else is taught in high school history about that war to students and they don't know that the war was actually mostly fought and Won in the South (Yorktown, Va) consequently they simply believe what they were taught without question and that is a shame. Southern children SHOULD be taught the truth about their own homeland
I'm from PA and even I know that the civil war was more about the North wanting to grow the federal government and the South wanted to keep it the way the Constitution intended, more than it was about slavery. History is written by the winners. The Union weren't the good guys from what I've been learning.
I love my little town of Manning. Lived here since 2000 and grew up in SC. This is my home. Crime is not that bad here and I love the lack of people my small town enjoys. I live 5 minutes from a great lake I visit regularly. I don't know of ANY towns here that are an hour away from medical help. And just so you know, we have helicopters here.
Pamplico South Carolina the crime rate is a little lower because the people from there come over to our town in Florence South Carolina. If you didn’t get it I live in Florence South Carolina but I’m originally from New York City.
Summerville is probably the best all around city in the entire state. Location, prices, crime rate. The only real knock is its recent popularity and the traffic.
If you did not know about this, Walhalla has a very high rate of murders mostly of young women, a drug problem and the murders that they have there have not been solved but seem to be all connected to one house that the cops are aware of the problems and suspect that they know the people involved but can't or won't bring them in for questioning. There has been someone writing about some of the crime in small towns here in South Carolina like the double murder of the Murdaughs.
From SC here - the natural environment is really pretty on the coast and in the upstate/foothills, the rest of it is not so much. Think the natural scenery and the crime, and a lot of stuff honestly is down to our state government. We have among the worst infastructure in the nation, poor education (especially in the rural areas), are ranked the worst in how we treat the elderly, and have been impoverished basically since the end of the civil war. State government would rather give people tax rebates than fix roads, they go by the federal minimum wage, and small towns can get a good amount of good ol boy corruption (as you see with the Murdaugh case). Also summer here can border on unbearable in parts of the state. Overall, while I’m really attached to it having grown up here, a lot of ppl who end up staying here long term are ppl whose families have always lived here. Ain’t many people putting down roots in SC, at least not in the central 75% of the state, and most ppl settling down in places on the coast like Charleston have a TON of out of state money. I’d say its like a 5/10 state, could be worse, but state government mismanagement holds it back
1) pamplico is alright! not too much to do there - being an hour outside of MB is nice, and tbh getting to MB just takes long bc a lack of direct roads. That whole area of the state in/around Florence has been in rough shape for a while, so Pamplico would be a good bet if you wanna live there. Not a whole lot to do there, you gotta love fishing if you want outdoors stuff
2) walhalla is nice, being in the mountains is a big perk, and being near Greenville is nice. It’s really right wing up in this part of the state, but the areas has been on the up and up
3) woodruff ain’t as good of a deal as walhalla. walhalla near stuff like devils fork, and other state parks that are super pretty. the area isnt as nice as walhalla, sorta on the wrong side of greenville if u looking for pretty natural areas
4) johnsonville pretty unremarkable, its probably a little better placed than pamplico in terms of access to civilization, but community is a lot more run down. just a pretty simple small town.
5) bluffton’s great, in a pretty part of the state, and there’s a lot of wealth around you with hilton head and savannah nearby. if you want the coast, this is a good place to go. its more affordable than the islands, and is often where people who work on resorts or elsewhere can stay if they can afford it. its kinda a small town, kinda not. Still lots of good nature stuff to explore here, and Savannah is as pretty a city as the US has
As someone who's lived here for 25 yrs in Columbia and I've been almost EVERY in this state. I've been to Walhalla, Woodruff, and Bluffton. Bluffton is a richie rich town next to HHI. Not really affordable as the other 2. Bluffton has really grown since they put the 4 lane highway to HHI through it. Still a rich town. I would've put Hardeeville instead of Bluffton if you wanted a nice town that's still affordable. Here's my list: Tega Cay, Walhalla, Chapin, Beaufort, Landrum...in no particular order. Woodruff is a nice little town and their trying to revitalize it but it's too far from anything for me. Actually..another town (too far for me) is Iva. Iva is a nice little town near Anderson that is quaint. Also Honea Path could be on this list too. If you want another nice coastal town, try Port Royal. You talk about towns being miles from hospitals in SC. I think they made a movie called Doc Hollywood about that exact same thing. lol I like SC...but some day, I wanna move back to my home state of PA.
I live in Iva. Nothing wrong with it other than not being much of anything. I like Ware Shoals, Belton, and Williamston. I lived in Honea Path, but it's a bit crime-ridden for my tastes nowadays.
@@lukescapee1234 , if you move back to PA stay away from large metropolitan cities especially Philadelphia, every night and every weekend it's like a wild west shootout ... Large cities aren't getting any better ..
Walhalla, also known here as hogwallar because the high school team is the razorbacks. Its ok, Dr. Bookers my family’s physician. Good people. We do get tired of tourists though. People like to ride their bicycles up and down the mountains holding traffic at 3-5mph in a 45mph zone. Share the road right? Get the hell out the way, people are on their way to work.

Woodruff residents would not go to Simpsonville, or Greenville. They would go 15 miles up the road to Spartanburg regional.

We've lived in Florence, SC for almost 25 years now. We have grown to love the area and I was pleaantly surprised when I heard not one, but two nearby towns listed. Usually, these lists are dominated by Charleston, Greenville and Columbia areas.
Nice! Aiken has a very nice downtown.
I love lake City

Used to have a family cabin in Mountain Rest up above Hogwaller , (take the right at Cuzzins store) across from Camp Crystal Lake...

I live in small town of south Carolina, Aynor. Great video..
South carolina is full please find somewhere else

It’s a great place as is most of the western side of the state. A place on the coast that is off the beaten path is a little place called McClellanville, which is a little place where some shrimp boats dock. I think the common description would be “quaint”.
McClellanville doesn't have much housing. I have been looking there over the years.
Knowing the people that live there, I think a housing development would be the last thing they would want. I would love to live there too but paradise should never be crowded.

I did not enjoy my two decades living in SC but Greer, SC. The best city, my family and I loved it.
Simpsonville is a nice town. I lived there for 18 years. It really grew in that time. I would even recommend the subdivision we lived in. It is called Neely Farm.

What are you talking about.
@@MsMoosieify
Again.

I hope it is helpful.

@@blanecatledgejr Yes! Read my comment above. North of Greenville and South of Asheville is the sweet spot IMO
Greenville is amazing
You did a Awesome job on this video I like the video 👍
You should have listed Allendale. That is a town for the storybooks.
And just so you know, we have helicopters here.
... the porch starting at 1:20 is gorgeous!
You’re crazy
I think they made a movie called Doc Hollywood about that exact same thing. lol
I like SC...but some day, I wanna move back to my home state of PA.
I live in Iva. Nothing wrong with it other than not being much of anything. I like Ware Shoals, Belton, and Williamston. I lived in Honea Path, but it's a bit crime-ridden for my tastes nowadays.
My family also moved from PA to Columbia. They’d like to move back to PA but I don’t think my parents ever will..
@@lukescapee1234 , if you move back to PA stay away from large metropolitan cities especially Philadelphia, every night and every weekend it's like a wild west shootout ... Large cities aren't getting any better ..
Beaufort is nice, but love Fripp Island, though not at all affordable, and it's gated. Need to hit the Shrimp Shack next time down that way!
@@richki.24 I am from Philly but grew up in Central PA. Philly has gotten bad.
Could you add "honorable mentions" at end of them? Maybe like 3?
I’m interested in knowing how you did the research! I’m getting ready to retire and looking for a place that is cheap safe and warm!
I want to live in maine.can you vlog about maine?
I live in Maine, if you live in SC can we trade? Lol
It's way too liberal in Maine for me.
I'd like to Thank Y'all in the Comments!
In addition to Brigg's great video, your comments gave me the information I was looking for. Thank you, Lovely Audience. 😍

Hilton head island is the only place I’ve been to. Really nice place but I couldn’t believe is was more humid and rained more than Tampa.
Bluffton is nothing like the other places on this list. I lived on HHI and built a house in Bluffton in 1999 because HHI was getting too full for me. Well they built a city around where I live. Bluffton is no small town.
Briggs you seem to really like Bluffton, should you every be here get a hold of me some how. I'll give you the insider tour.
Yep we are full
Thanks for the video.
Thank you, Briggs!
