    I know I would need a few days (at least) dedicated to smelling perfumes in Dubai. One day when I get the chance to head over there it will be magical I'm sure, like a golden Wonka ticket to perfumeland. Thanks for sharing!

    Wow, selling agarwood chips in malls?! Crazy! The stores are sooo huge, I'm jealous (even though it's half empty) 😱
    It's funny and weird how they secured those Shaik bottles to a stand, never seen anything like this before in a fragrance store lol
    Thanks for sharing! Enjoyed watching, as always!

      They had funny magnetic bottoms they stuck to.. made it kind of awkward to put them back down! haha
      Dubai is pretty crazy, they have like 10 different places selling Lamborgini cars all the way down the main street.. like everyone just casually pops into buy a Lambo on a weekend, lol

    Dubai Mall has all stores / stalls of all fragrance houses. But there is a smaller mall near Bur-Dubai ( I do not remember its name) - it is specialized for fragrances - and the shops are closely located - ( In Dubai Mall, since it is so huge, you have to walk miles after miles to cover few shops as the are scattered in different locations)

    Never heard of bramble before!! And I'm really not a fan of oud perfumes! But oud chips they are nice for clothes.. Abdul samad al qurashi has a really good one .. Not really cheap but the cheapest among the others. You could buy half or a quarter it will cost less

    Did you not have a chance to visit the perfume market in Dubai? Loads of small shops and the people who run them are usually enormously friendly and patient to make good recommendations and answer (my many) annoying questions. They sell from big bottles into little ones, so it's not expensive at all. I had to go to Dubai for work last year and came back with a collection of tiny bottles of things I'd never heard of in the West.

    • @FragranceView

      Nǐ hǎo, I was in Dubai for work too, but on a ship in the sea, so I only really had one day on land to do anything! I just went to the shopping plaza across from the hotel I was in, I didn't even have any local money with me!! So didn't feel like doing much before my flights home! I was happy just smelling the local ones there though, the Rasasi counter with the Agar wood chips had the big bottles of oils on display too. I'd just got back from Egypt before my trip to Dubai and had gone around the local perfume shops there, but the things they sold me later didn't last.. maybe just 2 hours on skin.. I picked up 3 small bottles in Cairo.

      Stroll the area if you get the chance on another trip. Well worth it. It's near the gold market area. All a bit touristy, but good fun. Most of the perfumes I found there were oil based, not sprays, so you dab it on and it lasts ages. They lean to heavier scents: lots of musk, oud and agar... Really interesting. Plus, the shops are very beautiful in a messy way because of all the glass flasks on the shelves.

    • @FragranceView
      @FragranceView  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds just the same as Egypt :) shelves full of huge glass bottles, just with oils..
      My 3 are dab on too, but I think the Egyptians cheat and make them weak, to make more money! Dubai probably does better quality oils, I will try to check it out if I go again! Thanks :)

    Hi Peter, you're fast becoming one of my fave fragrance channels, thank you for making such engaging and interesting content! Love how you're so confident with vlogging in public, have you ever had any bad experiences or people bothering you about it?

    • @FragranceView
      @FragranceView  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks :) I got told politely not to film inside Manchester Airport on my last duty free video, but she was nice about it.. You get some random looks from people sometimes, like heads turning and looking at you, wondering what you're doing talking to yourself lol.. The way I see it is if I saw someone talking to a camera in public, I wouldn't judge them badly.. I'd think it's cool they have the balls to do it without caring what people think.. So then it makes it easier to do it yourself, when you eliminate the fear of what people might think of you. People are too busy living their own lives, what I do doesn't effect anyone else, I think people are too focused on embarrassment of doing something different to the normal, I actually used to be the same, a year or two ago.. I wouldn't have done that, i'd be too worried. You just have to change the way you think about things, and do things that scare you, then eventually it's easy and you don't think about it

    • @billie1385
      @billie1385 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're absolutely right and I, for one, am glad you conquered that fear/awkwardness because you get to bring us such interesting vids. Thanks again and would love to see a video on female fragrances if you ever feel so inclined to make one. Best wishes! x

    how do you deal with that awkward feeling when you're smelling 100s of dollars worth of fragrances and you don't buy anything and have to say goodbye to the clerk

    • @FragranceView
      @FragranceView  8 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      I don't think it's awkward in the slightest... I sprayed it on skin, said thank you for his time, and tested it out for the day..
      then decided I'd rather buy Xerjoff Ivory Route, which is a better Vanilla.. Why would I buy something expensive just for the sake of it to please a shop keeper? That's his job, that's what the shop is there for.. to test them out! That's a ridiculous notion to think you have to buy something just because you sampled them.... Would you end up buying one you didn't actually want just because you felt pressured or embarrassed to??? That's insane man, you'd have no money left...

      I have the same feeling also so when ever i go somewhere doesn t matter a fragrance store, clothing shop etc i just refuse the services, they make me feel pressured, especially when they bring more and more and search for my measurements i always end up buying something.
      Bought myself a hoodie with a logo even though i don t like logos and now i just keep it there and when i was in turkey bought 3 fake Ralph Lauren Polo shirts just because he gave them for the price of 2, or i also bought a hookah because he left 10 euros of it. Thank god perfumes are too expensive, i just refuse the services from the start and smell on my own but i still feel awkward leaving the store, those detectors at the entrance also help even though i don t steal anything. I plan on going to Dubai if i find cheap fragrances like under 20 euros each i feel i ll come home with a couple of them 😂😂

    I knew that oud wood was expensive, but didn't realise just how expensive it was. Baieido, the Japanese incense company produces some really nice agarwood/oud incences.

    • @fatimaalman5510
      @fatimaalman5510 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the price depends on the quality of the oud. you can buy 30 grams of good quality oud for $95 which isn't that expensive because you can make them last for awhile by breaking that chips into small pieces. and spraying perfume that has oud oil and burning the the oud chips will, the smell of both oud oil and oud smoke will last for a few days. I usually just like putting a drop of oud oi on area behind my ears and let the smoke of oud chips go into my hair, it smells phenomenal! Worth the money if u ask me

    I'm jealous. My youngest daughter opened my bottle of Jasmine Wisp and immediately took possession of it. I gave my girlfriend my other bottle of Jasmine Wisp and I love it on her. It took me a while to really embrace Tobacco Blaze but I love it...although not a favorite. As for Ambergris Showers....um, I'm not a fan. C'est la vie. Enjoyed!

    • @FragranceView
      @FragranceView  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a nice one, I don't think Tobacco blaze is for me.. I am just not a fan of tobacco, Ambergris Showers smelled very " mall aid " as frag bros might say.. a mix of everything that smells familiar

    • @jimr880
      @jimr880 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't feel that Ambergris Showers smelled Mall like...just a bit weird and not a good fit for me. As for Tobacco Blaze...I came to realize that it was brilliant how they made this one smell like a burnt, ashy tobacco...without having a tobacco note listed in the notes pyramid. An intentional omission? Who knows!
      To me Tobacco Blaze comes-across as the fragrant-smelling ash of a fine cigar (tobacco) that was dipped in apricot brandy and rolled in spices, with violet and perhaps some other floral notes chirping in the background.
      As this fragrance progresses, I sense a dirty-dried straw/hay accord although the aforementioned tobacco ash continues to smolder softly, and under control, in the background. I don't know much about coumarin, but I will assume the interplay of courmarin and some other notes give this fragrance its body, which really is Tobacco Blaze (aka Cigar on Fire). While this is not one of my favorite scents...it is damn interesting, and how Rasasi made oud, leather, et al., smell like lighted tobacco is genius.
      Can't wait to see what samples and full-bottles you brought home with you to review in the coming weeks.

    • @FragranceView
      @FragranceView  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't buy anything! sorry! There were a few I liked... but not enough to impulse buy
      I am very picky with what I actually end up buying, it's got to be really bloody great now for me to bother, I don't want a massive collection.. I am conscious of not buying things just because I like it, and only going for the very few special ones that stand above everything else.
      I keep a box at home with a few samples that have impressed me so far, and I'll go back to it at the end of the year and select which I think is worth buying a full bottle :)

    • @Altersci
      @Altersci 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not have your control. I am an impulsive buyer. Most of the time when I enter a shop I end up buying something. Sometimes I regret and sometimes I congratulate myself

    • @jimr880
      @jimr880 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I attend symphony, opera and theater...but I most enjoy spending time in the mosh-pit watching thrash metal (e.g., Metallica, Megadeth, Slayers, etc.). My tastes in fragrance are just as diverse as my taste in music, and I have multiple loves...from citrus-fresh to aromatic-clean, from sweet and juicy to deep, dark, spicy, woody and oudy.
      Having said that...it's getting much more difficult finding a fragrance that is truly unique and exceptional so my buying has slowed-down to a crawl this past year. C'est la vie.

      I wouldn't say it's a hugely special oud, but it's quite unique.... I like it, it's kind of dark charred / burned incense, with a smooth oud wood heart, slightly sweetened, and quite smoky, it's his most affordable offering though

      This is Burjuman shopping mall in Dubai. Bramble is a relatively new brand and they had their first shop in that mall, before they move to City walk. I see the date of his video is 2016, so this is right before Saks 5 avenue shop got shut down that's why the shop looks abandoned. The entire mall actually is not that busy for reasons I am not going to explain and I guess you are not interested to know why, but any Dubai resident knows :)

      razscott You would have to be a total idiot to ever consider something like shop lifting in Dubai. You are always on camera...everywhere. Probably jail for life. I could leave my Mercedes running while I ran into a shop...no one would ever touch it.
