Here & Gone - Nice Original 1969 Ford 5000 Tractor - Quick Walkaround & Startup

Here's a real gem of a trade-in that I picked up from a customer today: a very clean and straight original-condition 1969 Ford 5000 tractor with the 233 4-cylinder gas engine and 8-speed transmission. The tractor has spent its life in Pennsylvania and lived with its previous owner for about two decades. He used it to pull a 3-bottom plow and a 6-foot brush hog which he ended up trading in with the tractor. This tractor is also equipped with the somewhat uncommon power-adjustable 38" rear wheels, very similar to my late grandfather's Ford 4000 that I will be restoring in the future. I've always had a soft spot for these old Ford tractors (post-1964) and when I was given the chance to pick this one up as a back-haul on one of my delivery days, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. The only non-original parts on this tractor are some blue paint touch-up on the front axle and bolster, and some white paint on the fenders. The original grill fell out and was mowed over sometime in the past, so he replaced it with a piece of mesh, but a correct original grill could easily be sourced. There are lots of the 3000/4000/5000 tractors (and their newer counterparts) still being used on farms today, and they have built a reputation for being some of the toughest and most well-built tractors in existence - it's not every day that you come across a clean original like this one. It still starts right up and purrs like a kitten with 3600 original hours.

Gas? Hmmm...got a '62 diesel and am very happy. Not sure what other's experience is, but I love my diesel!

Got a 4000 diesel that my grandfather bought brand new, it's sitting in the barn waiting to be restored. The Ford diesel engines from that era were indestructible!

We worked a ranch by Cushing,Tx.in '69.the owner had 3 tractor dealerships.he brought 2 new Ford 5,000's.they werre good,but they couldn't keep up with our 2 630 Case tractors.

630 Case...now that's a tractor I haven't seen many of in this part of the country. The 3- and 4-cylinder Fords like the 4000 and 5000 were a huge seller in the northeast, but I don't think the Case dealers did too well in that market, at least in my neck of the woods.

@@MichaelTJD60 true,East Texas was hard core Case,but Mr.Raymond Gerald Jones,also owned the Farm Equipment Dealerships in Nacogdoches,Lufkin,and ??
They were good tractors,just no match for Jones standing the Case on it's rear wheel pulling a loaded spreader,full speed,spin it and off again.
The Man was good.lol

Got a Ford tractor 335 diesel for sell not sure of the exact year early 70s I would say runs front loader PTO both work. Has a cab on it a sum of the glass put back he's a steering box and gauges throttle cable but starts up every time.

Not sure yet. Probably somewhere in the $5500-6000 range.
