  • I demonstrated how to install and configure Linux DNS Server. This is a complete Linux DNS Server Configuration Tutorial.
    The DNS server is extremely important for the network. Name resolution is not possible without DNS Server. All devices and servers, to some extent, do name resolution. Linux DNS Server Configuration is extremely simple, and I've told you how to do it step by step. DNS servers are classified as Primary, Secondary, or Caching Only depending on their configuration. A DNS server is called a primary DNS or master DNS server if it manages a zone or domain's DNS Records. We can set up a Linux DNS server in failover mode so that if the primary DNS server goes down, the secondary DNS server will respond to DNS queries. As a result, the master DNS Server's standby Replica is used as a backup. and caching-only DNS is neither a master nor a slave; rather, it is a standard DNS server that responds to DNS queries and caches them, then responds from the cache when the same query comes up again. The default behaviour of all DNS servers is to respond from the cache; however, caching-only receives the query and also forwards it to an upstream DNS server, serving as a DNS Forwarder. All of the scenarios have been demonstrated to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the DNS Server.

    I liked that idea when you've demonstrated things not working first and then showing us how to resolve the issues, this is really great even though this is the first video I already have valuable information, this has allowed me to understand and comprehend the concepts. the is such an important skill (DNS) to have. Thank you very much again.

    Thank you so much for providing one of the best DNS playlists on TH-cam. The way you explained DNS in a practical manner is highly appreciated, as it enables anyone to easily understand the concept. Your teaching approach should be an example for every instructor to follow in order to provide clear and concise explanations. Sir, one request , I find it quite difficult to understand SELinux in Linux. I was wondering if you could create a detailed video on this topic, as your teaching approach is very effective and easy to understand.

      I am very glad for your nice comment. It is my Pleasure and inspiration, that my video helped someone effectively. and Honestly i avoided SELinux always. i dont know much about it. i am sorry to say that. but if i could, i will make oneday. thanks.

    hello sir,
    I have couple of questions.
    1. Are you using the bridged network for your set up?
    2. how did you setup your fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for your server? Under the /etc/hosts file, how did you write it?

    Great explained.. sir it could be batter if u also explain the linux version u used and mention the limitation of it(e.g. number of DNA queries can be handle with X number of hardware resources).

    • @mailserverguru
      @mailserverguru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment, it was CentOS 8, and Normally DNS server can response to millions of queries with minimum hardware. thanks

      Hi, Thanks for the comment. what software you are talking about? I have shown here Linux DNS server configuration with bind9, and during ssh login, I have used mobaexterm software. Thanks.

    good day sir. question is there a way that the other subnet can resolve local DNS without assigning a Static IP address on clients??

    • @mailserverguru
      @mailserverguru  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      surely it is possible, if you have network connectivity and routing to the DNS server, you will get the response from the DNS, and you can create A record for the different subnets ip/hostnames, that's possible. thanks

    • @mailserverguru
      @mailserverguru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, If it is Name resolution issue, you can do it by giving entries at the /etc/hosts file, you dont have to install bind at all servers. Thanks

    Do we need a personal domain to activate the dns server ?

    • @mailserverguru
      @mailserverguru  ปีที่แล้ว

      there are 3 types of DNS Server i have described. You need one, if you try to setup dns for that domain, but to setup dns no domain is necessary, you can configure it as caching only. also.
