The Megan Moroney album is probably my favorite release of the year so far, as I really liked a lot of the songs and can't think of one I actively disliked. My favorite overall is still Tennessee Orange, but among the new stuff I really liked Mustang or Me with an honorable mention to the melody in the chorus for Sad Songs For Sad People.

Just saw Kip Moore this past weekend on Friday in Glasgow, Scotland. Sometimes She Stays and Guitar Slinger are the standout songs from the new album in a live setting. Both are massive and expensive songs that can step the energy down for a few minutes before the energy rises in a two hour set. Love Kip Moore!!!

Anyways, thank you for providing nuanced and funny country music commentary. You always manage to appreciate indie country without being a jerk about the Nashville conveyer belt of handsome white singers.

  • @scott7275

Jake Worthington is the real deal. Not just a very good country music singer but someone who has great vocalist styling. Natural stylist. Brings back memories of artists like Mark Chestnut , George Jones, Lefty Frizzell , Daryle Singletary. I know those are major icons but If anyone gets the chance go and listen to his acoustic versions of the songs from his new album bc you can hear his vocals and the raw , raspy, yet smoothness of his voice. I just hope he wasn't born in the wrong era. Bc country music needs an artist like him right now.

For other artists I like, I'll check in on them occasionally whenever I'm in the mood to listen to more of their music. And when the big awards are announced, I'll check out the nominees to see if there is anything I missed over the last year that I'd be interested in checking out.

i agree a lot with the Parker Album. Loved all the songs but it just didn’t hit like limestone kid and probably wrong. I think that’s largely because all of the songs had a similar vibe, whereas LK and PW were so diverse. You’d go from New orleans to Galveston Bay to meet you in the middle and happy new year! They were all so great but they were all so different. There’s not as much diversity in this album and it makes it less than its parts

What I hate is the growing trend to release albums that mostly just include songs from a previously released album, sometimes not even under a deluxe pretext, but just with a completely new name. Bailey Zimmerman, for instance, had an 8-song EP last year, and he just added 8 more to make this new album instead of having like two separate honest albums. Another trend is to release singles, that roll into EPs of three songs, then albums.
