As a suggestion... I always list the partly damaged electronics as auctions. Starting from £5 to cover postage and packaging and job done. They always go, sometimes for more sometimes for a fiver 😂.

I was only saying to my husband yesterday that problems come in 3s. We go for weeks and then we have 2 returns and a”buyer didn’t receive “. The returns have cost us £30, and the lost item we can prove has been delivered, but we have to wait before ebay will close the case. And the manners of the buyers just makes me so cross. Is it because they aren’t dealing with us face to face and can get away with the messages they write. Still tomorrow is another day. Hope your week improves x
It's part of the job, mistakes and annoyances will happen, all we can do is deal with the issue professionally and move on :)
Royal mail or relevant delivery company are very good at refunding for missing items if you have proof of postage x

You've got my sympathy ! Yep, things go in threes, I can confirm. On days like that, my wife and I look at each other and just go "It's a full moon, isn't it..." and usually we're right.
As for the quiet weekend, is it sad that sometimes I hope it rains over the weekend so that people stay in and shop online instead of going out andenjoying the weather ?
I feel your pain, I'm on day 13 of trying to return an item that was wrongly listed. Ebay promised me a refund in writing if the seller did not resolve in 5 days, 5 days past and now they have put it on hold another 5 days! Why do they let Chinese scammers get away with murder on their site, someone honest like yourself would never get away with what they are letting this seller do to me
If you decide to try to repair the boombox, you should make a video of it :)
I love a good boombox. I think it's worth selling, just specifying the issue. To some, they might just want to use the CD and radio, others may want to fix it. I don't know much about that model, but might be worth a try!
Thank you for everything you do and post. I have viewed a lot of your content. Ebay…my printed file and my electronic one (and I am only a long time buyer for now) are both labeled EBay scams. That’s just how I view ebay. You really have to do your homework before you hit ‘buy’…really diving into sellers history…how many sales, what kind of sales, read all feedback (even a 98.5 % seller can have a ton of one star reviews), how long since last sale..etc.
Once in a while I get 2-3 returns myself. How to deal with them? Just resolve the issue by making the buyer happy and forget about them as old taxes. Don't let them bother you and don't let eBay get involve, otherwise you'll get a strike "Defect" against you account. So always lose to keep your account clean.
I feel your pain Nick. I think it proves you are human. Mine come in 3s too when selling on ebay. Alas the buyers sometimes think we should never ever make mistakes. A upside is I might need some round 🏷 so I know where to come xx
Sorry it's a crappy day, I recently promised a friend she could borrow a cassette player for an event, confident in the knowledge that I own about 12. You'll no doubt be astonished to hear that it turns out none of them has a working cassette! So I headed off to ebay and found a really nice looking one for £30, bought it and tested it immediately it arrived - and it ate my tape and wound even spit out the bits. Opened a return and got a flurry of rude messages telling me it was all my fault, even to the level of using the word "stupid". Ignored him and sent it back and got my refund. Ended up buying another from a lovely seller and all was good but I did notice in checking solds that broken ones seem to go for good money so long as you're clear what they are. I have since listed two of my least favourite and both have sold for fair money considering the effort I'd have to have expended in fixing them. Everything is a learning experience!
Yes I dare say this one would sell with a non-working tape player... or I may yet repair it

Oh Nic we have all done it. The joys of selling. Just think it is normal and move on, compared to good sales it is a dip in the ocean.
As a buyer I'm more likely to buy from a seller that has made mistakes as there's no such thing a a perfect person. Its not the mistakes it's how you deal with them that matters. So you made a mistake with the labels. Why is the buyer annoyed? You're sending out the correct ones now and letting them keep the others. I'd be more than happy with that and more inclined to buy from you again because of the way you dealt with it. Perfection doesn't exist!!!!! Unless you're me 😆😆😆 That last bit was a joke btw before anyone comes at me. I'm far from perfect because im human😂
The icloud did you remove it the device from the apple account so the new buyer could put his own apple account on it so to use on the iTunes
Make a video attempting the repair. Make your money back on the video.

i love shopping for secondhand electronics but you always have to take those on faith and as a result, get them for a good price as the risk is all yours. The number of sellers who tell you, with a straight face, their kids were only using it yesterday and it was working perfectly. Get home and its dead or has major issues. One of the funniest for me was a PC power supply. The seller was saying it was brand new but the fan had so much dust on it you could see it had had many hours of use.

Used electronics - almost always being sold for a reason. I was able to change a belt in an off brand walkman, got it working but sounded awful anyway.

from experience, theres always some kind if issue with mobile phones on ebay. typically i phones. sold3 all had issues. couldnt access cloud or something? which i stated.

Just sell boom box for sled and repair. I’m really annoyed I sold my game boy was working absolutely fine I actually played as game before I posted it for old times sake, the but claimed only half the screen is working ! I feel I’m being scammed . If it’s not the state it was sold in when I get it back not sure. What to do?
Old iPhones often have a degraded battery life. I’m like you I don’t like listing them but when I do I always show the battery health setting where it shows the maximum battery capacity %.

Hi there! Just wondering if you have any advice on whether I should include serial numbers in the pictures of my listings to back me up in case a buyer opens a fraudulent return and swaps the item out, do you think it would make much difference if I do this and open the package on video?
makes no odds. it’s a very rare occurrence. if you’re top rated seller, eBay have you covered on misuse of returns, and you can report & refund 50%. you’ll never get anymore. so have to suck it up.
Ultimately it probably won't make a difference, however I usually do it as it may help put off dodgy buyers.
@@funkyuk1 are things really this bad nowadays? I remember being able to phone up a few years ago and explain the situation and with a little bit of hard evidence I'd get the compensation if I got a rock or a different item in the box.
@@cryptotooth there is no evidence, even videoing you opening a parcel. seller protections are pretty generous imho. It’s a very rare thing to happen. If i ran a shop, i’d have trouble with shoplifters. all a part of the process. my losses from being ‘scammed’ are minute.
@@funkyuk1 by generous can i assume you mean basically gone? Can you even speak to a human anymore? It's just everything I list I keep getting offers or purchases from African proxy addresses that I can't refuse without knowing and once it leaves the border anything could happen to it. I know proxy shipping is a thing but the real address is hidden.
I’ve never sold a phone on eBay without having some kind of issue 😂 phones are indeed an absolute magnet for scammers - no way I’ll ever bother with phones anymore - not worth the time and hassle
Take the stereo apart. Speaker grills, speakers, motor, handle , aerial and knobs. Then throw it.

Well Nic, you know why you made the label mistake? Cos you're human. Don't beat yourself up over it. And didn't they arrive about the same time as the big job lot (or they were part of it), so if that's the only mistake made, I think you've done pretty well!

I hate when a packing mistake has been made and the buyer is right away at your throat as if you are scamming them - really detest playing nice with them.

That's rude!
Stop moaning about returns. You are very silly for selling second hand, (presumably untested by a qualified electrician) , electrical equipment. You are leaving yourself open to legal action should anything go wrong with the item ie if it catches fire or electrocutes someone. Additionally you can well afford to write off any returned item as borne out by the expensive dental work that you have had done.
Good to see that for once you managed to keep the index finger on your right hand away from your lips, now you need to work on keeping those hands from flapping around as much.
Sorry you had a quirks!! But don't forget you've been feeling rough and perhaps your mind wasn't really on the ball (re the label pkts) Hope the phone turns out to be on the customers side not knowing how to use! I do like your channel and enjoy seeing what treasures can be found, but this video got on my nerves. Considering the enormous amount of money you’re making by buying off people who are ignorant of the value of their items, or just can’t be bothered faffing about selling them online, to whine about a few lost pounds is super annoying. Do you ever feel awkward making so much profit by purchasing something for a quid and selling it for £40? That’s a genuine question .. I’m wondering about the ethics of it.
This is a reseller channel. It focuses on people buying stuff second hand (off people who can't or don't check the value themselves) and selling for a profit. Are you sure this is the channel for you?
