- Lego Island 2, released in 2001, is a game that I have never played until now. This is a review for the PC game, if you think it is work playing GBA or GBC versions, let me know!

I loved Lego Island 2 has a kid, had both 1 and 2 but 1 would frequently crash and it was hard to work out what to do next, never actually ever made it to the end. 2 was much more enjoyable as was more guided also having better graphics & audio quality. Took a few weeks to complete with the dexterity of a kid and loved how the station master would always swoop you back when you went on the tracks haha
Whether it's because I never played the first game, or just because of the nostalgia, I found the silly characters fit well into a fun, quirky Lego game. Maybe if I had played the first one, my opinion would be different!
And similar with the "mechanical" music - it makes sense to me that something as discrete/mechanical as Lego has music to match! And for whatever reason, I find the mechanical style quite satisfying.
Interesting to see how opinions differ with different experiences!

That fishing mini game was the bane of my exsistence
I played this game as a kid and I liked it ok. Even way back then I was disappointed with how far removed it was from the original. All these years later learning about what went down after the first game released makes me sick to my stomach . Great review!

Even if the buildings didn't have missions at the beginning, they could've at least made some at the end of the game - like after the game is finished. They could've also made it so that you could play as other characters after the main plot is over. Just saying.

Hey! I used to play this game as a kid.
I loved lego Island 2 even though my dad had to complete the big bertha mission for me. I never had the first one, but I did have xtreme stunts later. I liked lego Island 2 a lot more than extreme stunts.
Was I the only kid who couldn’t get past the jousting level??

I never played the first game but I loved Lego Island 2 as a kid. But my god it has not aged well.

I feel like this game had so much potential, but was ruined by heavy time crunch and mismanagement. If someone were to remake the original trilogy, I'd be all in for a LEGO Island 2 that's actually good, fully realised, and better written, performed and structured in presentation, audio and gameplay.

I absolutely loved Lego Island 1, and I was beyond stoked when I saw the the sequel came out. But Lego Island 2 was so bad, I remember I literally stopped playing it after like 15 mins, and never touched it again. The voice acting is cringey and boring, music is bland and forgettable, graphic is worse than 1 with textures being super blurry (How a 2001 game looks worse then a 1997 game is beyond me), and all Lego characters now move like some soft jelly instead of hard rigid plastic like the original. That's the reason why the first one gained a huge cult following while the sequel was just forgotten.
Im from 95’ and i dont share your negative opinion, this game was absolutely amazing as a kid, the islands, yeah the music is cringy now but back then it was fun, loved the islands an challenges, the medieval, jungle and desert parts felt so adventurous and there was a lot variety. Collecting pages was very rewarding, story was great, a lot of gameplay variety. 10/10 game back in the dat
We got this from the library one time. Our parents didn't like how our computer would be bricked during loading screens, which took upwards of ten minutes.
And the titular house that Pepper gets? You stare at one wall or the other. Took ten minutes to load in, ten minutes to load out.
We never got it again, contrasting how often we'd get Alpha Team, Island 1, and Racers (to the point that when Alpha Team was retired from the library they just gave us the disc because we were the only family checking it out since they got it)
I liked the first game overall more, the minigames from this game were fun. And I did like chasing pages and bots.
I didn't finish it because the jumping in the tower at the end was too hard for me as a kid.

@@necrovarius225 Well, it was one of the first Lego games I remember playing aside from Stunt Rally and I had never even played the first Lego Island.
I sorta guessed that Lego Island 2 was ur first into that series. I believe wholeheartedly that if you played Lego Island 1 first. It would be different.
