New Subscriber from Franks Channel. I am a Retired Wildland Firefighter, Lode Mine Owner Operator and Mine Safety Inspector for several Large Mining Companies and as such I have some advice for the both of you, between the Dust and the Rodent and Bat Droppings you guys really need some disposable N95 face masks, get the ones with the exhaust vents so you can talk without that darth vader sound, they even make foldable ones that fit in a pocket with ease. Hantavirus is real bad in dry mines and especially in AZ and NM and is carried in dust and spread by inhalation and contact, so is Free Silica and Asbestosis from Rock Dust or what us Lode Miners call "ROCKS IN YOUR BOX" and It don't take a lot of exposure to get either but a $1 disposable N95 face mask can spare you from years of feeling like all that waste rock is a grinding up your Lungs and Throat and a Squishing the Crap out of your Lungs and coughing the Red Stuff and worse but the Hantavirus Lung Disease makes Free Silica and Asbestosis seem like child's play, I got rocks in my box from Lode Mining and it sucks not to be able to breath without an Oxygen Tank in Tow so if your going to bother carrying a several hundred dollar mine gas or 02 detector might as well pack a couple $1 N95 face masks too, sure wish they had em back in my day!. www.amazon.com/Respirator-Breathing-Filter-Disposable-Certified/dp/B07WQVWP3X/ref=sr_1_28?crid=UQ6HMWPXRKX8&keywords=foldable+n95+masks+adult&qid=1576388538&sprefix=foldable+n95%2Ctools%2C1928&sr=8-28 about $16 for a Pack of 20 www.cdc.gov/hantavirus/hps/index.html An Armchair Lode Miner sure likes your guys videos so please keep 'em coming and Thank You!
TBI Firefighter “Gly”: Thanks TBI! And welcome aboard! I carry a two piece MSA face mask with N95’s and ammonia cans. In upcoming episodes you’ll see me using it as I experiment with attaching a microphone for audio. Your right, exposure to hantavirus and histoplasmosis is a real thing and we do our best to limit our exposure and kick up as little dust as possible when in these areas. We’re only in these mines for short periods of time once or twice a week but if I was working in one full time you can bet I’d be wearing a mask all the time. Happy your enjoying the show!

I look at Frank's Channel and your's. Both very informative and interesting. But I like your Intro's more😉. But you both do a great Job. Continue like this.
Thanks for taking us along, Gly and Frank! Huge stopes in this one! Was this gold and silver, or were there other mixed metals? A lot of the 'country rock' was beautifully colored in both yours and Franks videos, indicating the lode was a good mixture. Anxiously awaiting the next!👍👍👍👍❤️❤️✌️ And I love both of you having cameras and giving both perspectives at times; gives us a better 3-dimensional picture of what it's like in there!
Stop forgetting to tie a knot in the end of your ropes Frank...i like and want to keep watching these videos. Thx for all you guys do. Watch out for those barking spiders.
Gly. Glad to see you guys are having a great time out in that region of the state. Those Arizona ringtail cats are just about everywhere out there. Also I see you're not on Facebook anymore Gly. Bummer. Next weekend will be out there as well. Maybe we'll run into you 😉
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces I can't blame you there's too much control over things. I never liked it anyway either but in order to network with some people that's their only method of communication which kind of stinks. Keep on enjoying everything Western Arizona has to offer.
I like you and frank working together, you make a good team. Maybe you thought about or maybe not, but are you going to take a trip up to Canada to explore mines with frank up there?
Watching Frank rope down into that winze had me feeling a bit jealous! I wish I had proper gear to check out some of the mines out here... Enjoyed the video as usual!
Oidium45 “Gly”: Well, one thing is certain (at least that’s what we’re finding out) if you rope into areas there’s a good chance you’ll see something the miners left behind. The sites were working on now are just incredible.
Still sorta trippin' on the vein in Frank's half....... that was some really ODD lookin' stuff. Helluva hole with some sketchy areas! Some adventurous stuff!
Boy! what an improvement on mike's audio. Can hear Frank now. I betcha, in his mind he's saying "ta da" down from the stoles. Frank is sure a "squirrel" bounching around as he does. But way too much dust to be taking in. Take the advice of the TBI Firefighter guy. After so much dust and quanno smell, etc; it will effect after time. Those were some great scope shots of the depths of that stope Gly. Quit "egging" Frank on. He's "squirrely" enough on his own, Gly. At this point in the video, I can hear the effect of the dust in Frank's voice.....like he needs extra saliva. Great adventure but DANGER! Too Much Dust! Not again...at frame 28:59, Frank verbally notes that he did not tie a knot at the end of his rope again!!
Hey there Gly, I've just had a thought, so what if when you find the mine cat you use your green laser point on the ground near it and start slowly moving the laser around on the floor right by it, I bet it will hunt it and try to catch it as I haven't met a cat yet that doesn't love playing with a lser, just don't shine it in the cats eyes, I have 7 cats which love my laser toys lol. Frank near gives me a heart attack each time he goes on the rope lol. Frank really does have balls of steel, I do advise you both to get even those cheap little decorators masks will help your lungs with that dust. I wouldn't wish it on anybody to have something go wrong with their lungs, I'm 51 and smoked most of my life and now with COPD and Asthma I'm paying the price. Thank you both so much, you guys together are just so entertaining and the editing is just awesome it really is. Thank you very much for sharing, stay safe. xx
"Gly": Thanks Sue! That's a great idea! I'll have to try that the next time I see one as I already have a laser mounted to my camera rig. Yes, franks balls are brass but mine are aluminum. lol. For now anyways... I'm editing an episode right now where I wore a mask and it's taken me nearly four hours of close captioning it and I'm only halfway done. I'm experimenting with a built in microphone in the mask but it's not working quite like I planned. I'll get it figured out eventually where it sounds good. Thanks for your support Sue, and we'll see you next weekend for the part 3 and 4 finale!
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces -- Gly , try using a "Throat Microphone" , it straps around your neck and is specifically designed for someone that needs to wear a face mask & still be able to talk . - < Doc > .
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Yup I will definitely be there, you can count on it. I think you're gonna get your steel ones fairly soon as since Franks been with you, you have got way more daring. Stay safe and take care. xx
Lighting turned out well when in the stopes with all the shadows, came out mysterious. I could hardly watch as Frank climbed the stalls, that would be a biiiiig no no for me. I think Frank didn't like that mine as he did his best to demolish it lol
"Gly": Climbing rotten stulls makes me nervous too but these were like they were installed yesterday. You just wouldn't believe the preservation in these desert mines. Yes, Frank likes to kick rock and throw things. He calls it "dramatic effect". lol
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces What I Found, When attacked the ringtail will not only release its foul skunk-spray, but it will emit an ear-shattering scream to go along with the stench. Adult ringtails communicate with each other via loud barking or a long-high wailing, whilst the young speak in a series of chirps and squeaks.
Hey there Gly, i was commenting on your life stream the other day (reminded u about the skeletons at the table scene u found...lol) I say this only with full respect as I'm fond of you both - I'd hate 4 anything to happen to Frank n hope to see you discourage him from some of the crazy stunts he contemplates! I know he's his own man of course. :)
"Gly": Well, everybody does things at their own comfort level but I wouldn't say Frank is foolhardy. He weighs out situations just like a rock climber would and allot of times that's the part you don't see on camera. There's no doubt these places are dangerous and I've got his back if I ever see something dangerous that he might have missed.
Well you two have certainly outdone yourselves Gly. Awesome videos this morning. I work Saturdays, but I'm now finding it hard to get anything done in the first couple of hours. Just an hour of new videos, but It makes me want more so I have to go back and re watch another, or two, or three! 😂 Awesome capture on camera of that Ring Tailed Miners Cat. I grew up in southern Calif, and spent a lot of time in the Mojave. I now live in southern Utah, and have spent a lot of time in southern Nevada and the northern Arizona deserts, but i have never heard of these before. What are their origins? I mean i'm sure they didn't originate in the mines. Would they be in the Raccoon family? They must be nocturnal with those big ole eyes. and carnivorous eating pack rats and bats? It seemed to be stalking those disturbed bats when you first caught it on camera. Just curious. They seem pretty docile., and didn't you say the old time miners would keep them as pets? Anyways thanks for taking us along. You're doing great things, and it can only get better from here IMO. Thanks Gly!!!!👍👍👍
“Gly”: Yes, they are part of the raccoon family and I once I did catch a glimpse of them outside the mine. The miners liked them because they’d eat the mice and rats that would so often cause problems for the miners by chewing on stuff. Thanks for the compliment, I’m really happy your enjoying the show!
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Yeah those Pack Rats will chew on anything they can get their teeth on. I had one make a nest on the intake manifold of my truck that I only drove when needed. It made a total mess under the hood. So I can understand those miners frustrations.
Do you have any concerns about the silica in the dust, I worked a underground copper mine in San Manuel and we always wore respirators. Take care Gly great vid.
Bernard Gonzales “Gly”: No, not really because were only in these mines for short periods of time and only twice a week on average. Our exposure is limited compared to working in a mine 40 hours a week or so.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Ok lets get this straight, ANY exposure is cumulative, only so much gets cleaned out, the rest stays to do their dirty deed. Your in volcano country, dirt dry. You've seen a volcano explode, you see all that dust going miles into the sky, that's what you're breathing. Have a look at what your breathing, sinister aren't it? www.google.ca/search?sxsrf=ALeKk01ZywxJsAaOa1ZH3B03qkd6jZyd5w:1590052874771&source=univ&tbm=isch&q=microscopic+picture+of+volcanic+dust&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiW9pjG0MTpAhWYIDQIHdRvBJ8QsAR6BAgKEAE&biw=1193&bih=611
You know what would be cool? If you could add an artificial horizon on the screen, like in an airplane. Just a pip on the corner or something. I've noticed in a lot of videos where people are exploring stops or inclines/declines, and you see tons of strolls like in this vid, it's really tough to tell how steep it is. Or even if you guys are looking up, down, or straight on.
I used just rope ..no harness . Just old incondesemt flashlights pre led lights ..so batteries were an issue I always had problems with and GPS was relatively new and no one had it. No oxygen meter just Marlboros and some big balls. I would not do it now that I am older and wiser without an oxygen meter and proper safety.
"Gly": Franks beard has it's own pulse. A pair of googly eyes are on their way and will be firmly glued in place. After that we will be holding a contest to give the furry critter a name. lol
"Gly": This location was discovered in 1888 and mined off and on again until the 1960's. This was a gold, silver copper and lead mine and here are the reported earnings: Production was $1,600,000 in Au bullion in 3 years (1891-1894)(period values). 158,761 tons of ore averaging about 0.85 oz Au/ton, 0.53 oz Ag/ton, and minor Pb and Cu.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Todays value for 134,941 oz Au & 841,403 oz Ag is $233, 458,310 & $14,303,851 with total of $247,762,161 This mined in 3 years with a much lower recovery rate than today to boot!
Love the videos ..I used to go into mines in Virginia city , Nevada. Back in 2000 . Pre digital camera. Man I wish I had a camera back then ..when I went back this summer looking for old mine I went into , unfortunately they were all closed in ..filled in or bought up and privately owned now and access is no longer possible. Makes me wish I had a camera 18 years ago. I also learned not to shave the day of exploaring..got empitigo (skin eating bacteria) on my face had to get super antibiotics to fix my face. Still have a scar on my lip from this ..don't shave on exploaring day..opens you up to infection from old bat poop.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces ya I seen some shit you would love ..false floors ...stopes so big a house could fit ..pathways down mountains in the cracks of faults ..so much
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces on in particular ..the old highway 6 mile canyon ..it had a vent up top or a whimz ..opening to level walkway then a ladder went down 150 feet ..then it opened back up a mile down the road . Guy closed it in ...only access is thru his garage now. And most I descended into via rope ..they just dumped truck loads of dirt on top until entry was impossible . Really sad . Lost a Milwaukee cordless drill down one hole. In 2000 . Used it to remove wooden keep out signs to enter mines ..left it in an entrance ..I wonder if it is still there lol.

Omg that animal is so cute! Related to racoons? I bet this will change in next few years. They are reclassifying vast animals after just lumping them into classes without complete DNA workup. “Gly”: Well, one thing is certain (at least that’s what we’re finding out) if you rope into areas there’s a good chance you’ll see something the miners left behind. The sites were working on now are just incredible.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces jealous!
Thank you that was cool
Awesome explore very cool 😎
really like Franks high tech climeing loafers.....
Still sorta trippin' on the vein in Frank's half....... that was some really ODD lookin' stuff. Helluva hole with some sketchy areas! Some adventurous stuff!
Frank sure is a eager cat to squeeze in those places and just drop into a endless looking bottom.
Gly, you and Frank make a great Team! 3:00 made me cringe....FYI, Frank has the big "ones" and they gett'n squished...Subscribed and rang the bell!
"Gly": Thanks! And welcome aboard! Yep, Franks are brass and mine are.... aluminum. lol
Boy! what an improvement on mike's audio.
AAaaaahhhhhhh!!!!! Just watched the last episode, what am I going to do now?.....lol
grimsmith1
“Gly”: Well, episodes 3 and 4 are only a day away!
You guys need to advertise your gear and pants you wear.....Somehow I missed these at year end. YIKES 2019.....
- < Doc > .
"Gly": That's a good idea! I'll look into it. Thanks Doc!
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Yup I will definitely be there, you can count on it. I think you're gonna get your steel ones fairly soon as since Franks been with you, you have got way more daring. Stay safe and take care. xx
@@001desertrat3 A brill idea.
He calls it "dramatic effect". lol
They get called ringtail cats, but they are related to raccoons not cats.
"Gly": Yes, your right. The miners called them cats. Were mine explorers so we call them cats too. It's just easier that way I guess.
Imagine this going on while in a mine, holly cow! Would surely give those ghost hunters a run for their money!
Frank is jealous of the mine cat 😉🐱👤
great job fellas great channel gly we got get ya more subs
"Gly": Tell all your friends and family! Hell, tell all your pets! lol. Thanks Pete!
In latvia on vacation with the wife.
Still watching.
I might have a problem.😉
hahahaaaa
This is the first video that I’ve seen anyone climbing on the stopes. Always thought the miners must have used them a lot.
"Gly": The miners would set wooden planks between the stulls and remove them when they were finished working an area.
That’s why they are good and tight. Falling while stoping was a very common injury developing. No fall arrest gear until much lator on.
We got a monkey who likes shafts. Neat explore. Them stopes were steep. Have a beer for me too. Nice explore and c ya all next week.
Do you have any concerns about the silica in the dust, I worked a underground copper mine in San Manuel and we always wore respirators. Take care Gly great vid.
Bernard Gonzales
“Gly”: No, not really because were only in these mines for short periods of time and only twice a week on average. Our exposure is limited compared to working in a mine 40 hours a week or so.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Ok lets get this straight, ANY exposure is cumulative, only so much gets cleaned out, the rest stays to do their dirty deed. Your in volcano country, dirt dry. You've seen a volcano explode, you see all that dust going miles into the sky, that's what you're breathing. Have a look at what your breathing, sinister aren't it? www.google.ca/search?sxsrf=ALeKk01ZywxJsAaOa1ZH3B03qkd6jZyd5w:1590052874771&source=univ&tbm=isch&q=microscopic+picture+of+volcanic+dust&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiW9pjG0MTpAhWYIDQIHdRvBJ8QsAR6BAgKEAE&biw=1193&bih=611
Ignorance is the cause of suffering - Buddha Now, you are less ignorant, so, hopefully less suffering will be coming!
Ahoy from Frank's place!
"Gly": Ahoy! and welcome aboard!
That was a big hol in the tunnelsystem
There was a railway either side of that support so could have had a rail up there?
"Gly": I think it was just a re-purposed cross-tie up in that stope.
I would not do it now that I am older and wiser without an oxygen meter and proper safety.
frank i'm afraid for you,i'm scared that if you fall asleep in those mines a pack rat may build a nest in your beard lol.
"Gly": Franks beard has it's own pulse. A pair of googly eyes are on their way and will be firmly glued in place. After that we will be holding a contest to give the furry critter a name. lol
Do you know any of the history of this mine, or other mines in the area? What was mined there anyway?
Thanks.
21:42 I think Frank has an actual butt spider??? There's what looks like a white thing with legs... Perhaps it was barking butt spiders all along!!
Mike Carr
“Gly”: And that’s why I don’t explore around the Virginia City area because they are all closed up. Lots of cool stuff topside though.

Where is the link to Franks episode ?
Maybe the Mine needed workers and timber . Promised X amount of money and a job to every Railway worker who showed up with a Tie . Or the Railway workers could have sold them for a little xtra cash . Miners could have even snuck in a pilfered some .
My Saturday mornin show, I love it! Really like that i can hear both of yall and see someone on camera for a better aspect of size. Makes for better content, great good yall. Nice mine and beautiful colors. My wife told ya on Facebook that she wants you to catch her a mine cat, NO! A 2 year old, a kid on the way, 2 dogs, 4 fish tanks and a bearded dragon is enough.

Omg that animal is so cute! Related to racoons? I bet this will change in next few years. They are reclassifying vast animals after just lumping them into classes without complete DNA workup. I mean DNA complete panel is closer and closer everyday.. there is only a little left to go and the elite1% will be able to bring back dinosaurs. (And plan to btw.. might be tiny versions because atmosphere is not as thick as it was when giants roamed the earth)
good editing Gly but you still gotta buy Frank a beer, he worked harder on the ropes in this one, you really do work well together you 2 fellas. what a cool mine though, there must be a massive waste rock pile outside this one
