0:38: There’s going to be an arcade once again in the Apache Mall in Rochester, MN (which is BTW not even close to being a dead mall). The Machine Shed, who had locations in that mall and Centerplace Galleria downtown and now has a stand-alone location near the downtown area is bringing machines back. It will open September 1st.

Suddenly, IAN! It's interesting how much videogaming and dead mall/urbex crossover there is...

Arkanoid never had a dedicated cabinet. It was only sold as a conversion kit, so you can find it in any type of cabinet. I have one that's in an original Astro Blaster cab that was then converted to Mr Do, then to Arkanoid.
That blue and white design is gorgeous, though.

It takes quite a bit of skill and knowledge to keep these machines going, especially the older ones. Very nice to see so many old games looking and working so well. I have a Gottlieb Big Casino and Bally Sun Valley bingo games, along with a couple IGT slots. I really enjoyed repairing and restoring them.
Also brought back the memories of checking newspaper machines for quarters to take to the bowling alley to play pinball.

We have a restaurant that has probably 10 or 15 old arcade machines. I was partial to the pinball machine - mostly because I was somehow actually good at it.
It has a nice mix of older games like Astroid, and some of the newer stuff before arcades died.
Plus their food has large portions, and the price isn't bad - just stay away from some of their experimental food... Not everything can become fried food lol.

I wish I had known about this. I love playing old arcade games. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I spent so much time at stand alone arcades and remember so many arcade games at the local (El Paso, Texas) bowling alleys and our skating rinks. I live in Phoenix, now, and would have gone to this.

This event happens every years you can always catch it next year 🙂 Also you'll want to keep an eye out for ZapCon in Phoenix. It's another convention in Phoenix but its focuses completely on arcade games. It has an amazing free play arcade area. Thanks for watching!

Enjoyed this video, my husband and I often talk about the old Arcades that used to be in Shopping Malls and how fun it used to be. My husband's eyes lit up when you showed the Star Wars Arcade Cabinet as he used to play that. "Sighs" memories, lots of good times, sadly now everything is home console gaming.

game on sure looked like a hell of a lot of fun!! that dig-dug cabinet (I think it's a cabaret) reminds me of the ones 1up arcade is planning on putting out seems to be about a similar size. those NES Nintendo-inspired cabs though, wow man seeing them up close that's pretty amazing! love the gold t-molding that he used on those looks pretty sharp!

You have an incredibly soothing voice. Also, i think these type of videos are better without the background noise. For me the ablity to focus on the image and hear the narration. If the background noise is there it is more chaotic. But that just might be me.

I grew up in a restaurant with a bunch of arcade machine we had about 10 regular machines and about 6"Cherry Master"s😋(and yes the naughty ones) as well as billiard tables and pinball. I have been looking for a cocktail version of the old Popeye game for a while now.

That vector graphics "star wars" game was in a large flea market. This vendor had an arcade. I use to go into back in the early to mid 90s. I have doubts it is still there. And this flea market is still open during this covid craziness. Then again i live in texas. This flea market is called busseys. No i'm not going to anywhere like that anytime soon. But yeah that was a cool game.

Serious suggestion. Don't do a seamless entry into an ad in the middle of the video. If it didn't take so long for me to get out of full screen, thumbs up, go back to the home screen of TH-cam, and (nearly) end the video, I would have never realized I missed half the video.
I'm not saying don't do ads, or even not to do them in the middle. Just try to prevent people from thinking it's the end of the video.

Maybe another reason why malls are dying is because they are so boring. Nothing but clothes, shoes and jewelry. No more arcades, no more toy stores, no more hobby stores. There is nothing fun to do anymore.

    • @gordontaylor2815
      @gordontaylor2815 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Baby Pac-Man doesn't really count because it's sort-of a hybrid between a pinball machine and standard arcade game.

A number of popular early NES games were adapted to the arcade and put in cabinets. The PlayChoice-10 at the end is one more example of this.

I got to be honest I miss video game arcades That's What attracted us to the mall really to be honest when they took all the video game arcades out of the mall that ruined everything I think you know why they said they couldn't keep them supposedly that they can afford the arcade they weren't bringing in the cash that they were supposed to that's total f****** b******* I missed the true arcade the real deal the street fighter the Mortal Kombat Double Dragon the original one I miss games that were video games I'm talking about the playthrough games
