I was about 6 years old when I saw this movie and I'm now 60. I never forgot this movie and finally found it about 5 years ago.
Sophia Loren's crying at the station (5' 27") is the most touching part of this film. Years of that scene stuck in my memory as a testament to how awesome Sophia Loren's acting was.

Ho visto questo film 40 anni fa. L'ho guardato una seconda volta, 30 anni dopo. Oggi ho ascoltato la sigla del film e mi sono commosso ancora una volta. I bellissimi Sofia e Marcelo hanno fatto un lavoro meraviglioso, mostrando al mondo la tenerezza dell'amore in contrasto con gli orrori della guerra. Complimenti agli autori Cesare Zavattini e Tonino Guerra, al compositore della sigla del film, Henry Mancini e al regista Vittorio de Sica, per lo splendido lavoro!

It's the best and most touching film about the war - it shows a ruined life of two loving people... I can watch this movie as long as I live and always reveal something else in every scene, dialogie or just panoramic views of the places... It's a real masterpiece in all aspects of cinema industry. I can't imagine amy other music - Henry Manchini has created an integral part of tragedy with every note of it.
Its a pleasant monday morning here in my country philippines. Before waking up from bed i incidentally happened to view on TH-cam this part of the movie Sun Flower and its so sweet music. I burst into tears! what crazy thing 😂😊😅

Was fourteen in 1977 when I first saw this movie. My eyes were swollen after watching it for the first time on tv screen seven years after it was shown on cinema. Loved this movie and Sophia Loren.

Quem fez o filme foi muito feliz na escolha dos astros e da música...para contar essa história triste..que na verdade tem como pano de fundo os cadáveres dos soldados italianos tombados na Rússia...enterrados de qualquer jeito e cobettos por terra que se encarregou de gerar milhares de girassóis...captando o calor do Sol e transformando toda aquela luz dourada em luz para as almas ali plantadas....bonito mas muito triste..mas uma obra de arte.
I saw this film a few times as a young student. It has always been one of my most favourite films...and the theme song! Loren ,my favourite actress and Marcello,another favourite ,in an immaculate performance,so touching and moving. One wept.

My Mother worshiped Sofia Loren and "Sunflowers from Russia" was her favorite movie. As a child, whenever "Sunflowers of Russia" was on the TV my mother and me would cuddle in the bed to watch and this song would never fail to make her cry.

Bellissimo e indimenticabile film,Mastroianni è il mio attore italiano preferito,con quello sguardo fra il trasognato e malinconico grande coppia insuperabile per recitazione,niente a che vedere con gli attori attuali,ho visto tutti i loro film e li rivedo sempre,non t i stancano mai.Una storia d amore sullo sfondo della seconda guerra mondiale,che ha fatto lutti in tante famiglie. La colonna sonora è stupenda, come tutte quelle di Mancini,chi si dimentica di Maggy time ,di Uccelli di rovo!?

Yo también soy uruguaya y Vi está película siendo una adolescente, en el cine del balneario San Luis, mi hermano pasaba las películas. En la década del setenta, todas las películas que veíamos eran europeas, el las seleccionaba, las iba a buscar a la capital y era muy jovencito, tendría 17 años, y mi papá tenía una cachila de lis años treinta y hacían publicidad del cine por los balnearios vecinos. Que recuerdos, que películas, nunca más volveremos a verlas, eran todas excelentes.

Me trae una nostalgia profunda ya que está hermosa y triste película Una joya verdaderamente la Vi a mis cortos cuatro años junto a mi amada madre QEPD que gustaba tanto del cine italiano y su idioma al que dominaba.Recuerdo cuando se las contaba a mis vecinos también italianos y no en castellano.Que alegres se ponían aquel matrimonio que había sufrido el cachetazo de la guerra.Don Savia que así se llamaba el vecino fue prisionero de guerra llegando a pesar poco menos de cuarenta kilos y su esposa que tuvo que parir a su primer hijo entre bombardeos Todos esos relatos quedaron grabados en mí,es por ello que no puedo evitar las lágrimas al escuchar este hermoso tema.

I remember watching this movie as a little kid growing up in the Philippines. I did not understand most of it but this movie left me with a profound sense of sadness. I remember that scene at the train station with her mother and I could not forget that scene until now. Sophia Loren is a fantastic actress and she remains a favourite of mine since.

Хотя раньше, конечно, об этом фильме больше писали соотаетствующие журналы (и не только) в связи с творчеством С.Лорен и/или М. Мастрояни, Витторио де Сикка.

This movie was shown in the cinemas of the USSR in the 70s years of the last century. Almost 50 years ago. There were no or computers or CD on which we could to listen to the soundtrack. My friend managed to record the main musical theme of this movie on a reel-to-reel tape recorder from the radio. What a joy it was to constantly listen to this wonderful melody.
And I don't know modern composers who can create such wonderful music for movies today

I can tell how painful this situation. While she was looking for him, he was building another life. I can understand all what he went through, but it is still hurting to see everything she was building collapses in front of her eyes.
I went through a very painful experience with a man I loved with all my heart. I can't open my heart to another love. I feel I will continue by myself in this life.
Love is nothing but pain that I don't want to live again. I am better now after two years.
As a man I too have gone through similar emotions of a woman leaving me.
Henry Mancini was a musical genius.
My husband and I went to see this on a Friday and were so tired from college and work we left early...never have finished it. Hope to...My Parish is Vietnamese and for a while the dead would show up and things would be heartbreaking like this....may still happen.
