OMG! Great timing! Mr. Tomato Head just purchased me a North Spore Boom Tub with a bunch of spawn that I will be receiving from Santa Claus! This all looks great! As we know, tomatoes are my jam….but second place is MUSHROOMS! Being a vegan, we eat a LOT of mushrooms, and it can be hard to find the great tasting, wild ones at most grocery stores. I’ve got my log that our friend gave us, but I’m looking forward to growing them indoors! Thanks for this great video, my cutie patootie partner!
I won a small mushroom kit from North Spore a while back and forgot to grow them this summer so now after seeing this video I have to grow them for sure 😊
Lions mane mushroom is commonly used as a seafood substitute for vegans and vegetarians. You can make crabcakes with them, put them in omelettes or pasta. I would just note that some species of mushrooms are more picky about the substrate they grow on than others. Some will want a specific type of wood chips. Oysters seem to be the least picky. You can also buy the spray and grow mushroom kits, and after they have produced mushrooms in the house, take the leftover spawn to inoculate your buckets or mulch outside! 2 for 1!
I live in southeast Missouri zone 7a I believe, so when is it the best time to start the mushrooms??? Plus I have a lot of wood shavings in my chicken house can I use those fertile shavings???
