Tenchi Muyo! (天地無用!, Tenchi Muyō!), is an anime, light novel, and manga series created by Masaki Kajishima and Hiroki Hayashi about a boy named Tenchi Masaki, which has grown into a larger franchise. Tenchi Muyo! was one of the early successes for AIC, the animation company behind it, which went on to create El-Hazard, Battle Athletes, Oh My Goddess!, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure and many other anime series.
The original series, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, is a six episode Original Video Animation (OVA) released in Japan in 1992--93. As its popularity grew, it spurred a seventh episode (also known as the Tenchi Special) and a stand-alone Mihoshi Special. In 1994-95, the second OVA series (episodes 8-13) was released, featuring episodes 8--13. A third OVA series (episodes 14--19) was released from 2003-2005, followed by a special twentieth episode.

For me, Robotech, one of the earliest anime to air on CN. But everything that came after was important, too. Especially Tenchi.

The goosebumps that engulfed my entire body as a kid when this song played and Ryoko returned to Tenchi... The carnival goes on... it always comes back... its destiny.

Yes! And that's why Tenchi Universe is my favorite show in the series. It had so many Ryoko and Tenchi moments and the ending always hits me in the feels. "The carnival comes and goes.. if you wait a while, it'll always come back to you, Tenchi."
@@jamesadvincola9687 omg yes I feel the same Tenchi Universe all the way. It's actually been so long since I've watched any Tenchi, may go back and rewatch soon. I just feel as though Tenchi and Ryoko compliment eachother so much and she deserves all the love. My sister was all about Ayeka but I think she was just a bit too stuck up(in the nicest possible sense XD) with Ryoko what you seen was what you got and there was far more chemistry and playfulness XD

Ahhhh the nostalgia is real! I remember coming home from school and watching this back about 14 years ago! I was so happy when they showed us Ryoko was still alive!

I remember crying when Ryoko returned to Tenchi. If you remember, she was literally dying when she was last seen. Her love for Tenchi was so strong, that she defied death itself to see him again!
Ryoko was my first "Waifu." Early 20's, single...I obsessed over this song. I probably watched it 10 times a day for a week after finishing the series. Still love it and nostalgia makes it that much more fun to listen too. THANK YOU for putting it up on youtube.

Had a relationship with a former co-worker. We've moved on and she's has since moved, but I think of her when I hear this song, especially @ 4:46 and I hope for some kind of reunion while this part is in my head. Maybe it won't be a direct reunion, maybe one where we're looking at a similar sunset or moon lit night together reminiscing, happy those times existed, how we both felt about each other. Feelings deep down we'll never ever regret...

I remember in the early 2000s watching toonami midnight run and going through each of the 3 series that were on there over and over again with Universe being my favorite. was 13-17 then, almost 35 (35 this Saturday) now.

No, I've seen the OVA (up to Here Come Jurai! anyway) as well as Universe. I mean I haven't seen GXP or anything after that.
Ah GXP, yeah I didn't really watch that show, felt like a Tenchi knock-off. And while it's set during the Tenchi Muyo series, only the first half of Tenchi Muyo was good, the second half not so much. It was made to follow more in synch with the Manga, but by then it was a mess
Tenchi Universe was THE first anime series I watched through completely and I distinctly remember this music starting and thinking "Anime is my new thing!"

This song has been burned into my memory from a very formative age. That's probably a bad thing, but I always sing it in a minor key. It gives it a very melancholy tone, and my memory of the song is slower and sweeter than this upbeat one, even though I know that's probably just my mind remaking it over the years.
Ah this brings back memories and seeing Ryoku embracing tenchi while this song was playing made me happy.
Much as I adore the Japanese version because it actually IS ryouko's voice singing, I still love this one for its meaning in the series. TM! was my first anime

I was young when I watch this series and fall in love with a amazing woman and played this song when we got together and still in love with her even know she's in heaven
I thought I was watching some nostalgic harem anime. Paced myself over a handful of months and just finished. I really hadn't expected the series to impact myself in the manner that it did. An appreciation for life was really conveyed, and looking at woman as actual people, even if many of them were aliens. Classic series and has themes much needed in the media of today. I truly became captivated as this tune played in the climax of the series. I wouldn't trade that for anything.
This is the best Tenchi Muyo series ever: Tenchi Universe. Tenchi in Tokyo is my 2nd favorite.
It is great to have this gang in my memories... it was a lovely time, and yes, I'm still looking for Ryoko...

Ryoko was gravely injured, but helped Ayeka get through to rescue Tenchi. We last see her flying off in Ryo ohki, who was crying because her mistress was DYING. Ryoko's love for Tenchi was so strong, that she refused to die. She returned to him first! Bratty princesses need not apply! Ryoko deserves Tenchi's love!

Oh I grew up to the English dub version of Tenchi Muyo so all of the songs are in English for me. When I revisited the series in original Japanese version, it was also done well as well! Memorable soundtrack!
I was looking for the amazing music that plays when Sasami looks at Tenchi running back to play a sport in a school setting in Tenchi Universe, and she falls in love with him. It was in one of the I think three special episodes where Washu's invention creates worlds according to the desires of whoever uses it.

I know that's right!!! Those were the good ol' days when we had stuff like this in the 80s, 90s, and in the mid 2000s when Cartoon Network had Toonami and Adult Swim. Right now they got all that drama bullshit in the afternoon when its nothing compared to the TV shows we grew up watching.
