What’s your reasoning? Both are fifth-rate frigates in game and therefore in the same class. Yes, Essex has a higher shot tonnage and should be expected to win, but that isn’t the only factor in a naval duel.
@@HistoricalShipCaptains-hc6uv Essex has higher pdr guns, better armour, sails as well as a frigate. Unless the Essex captain is a Sweetwater one the Essex is gonna win 10 times out of 10. In real life there could be a fight considering the rig damage but in game it's a one way fight. Besides Essex also has more than 400 crew to the frigate 350
@@stayfrosty1758 You make valid points and I actually agree with most of them. Essex is, on paper and in the game, the more powerful ship. If we bring the real-life historical aspect into it, we can say that Essex actually never mounted it’s long 18 pounders, and was actually fitted with short range carronades for the duration of it’s service. It’s secondary armament of 12 pounders was also reduced historically. In the game we have the option to arm the vessels with their maximum potential, though in history many ships simply did not have access to the guns they needed to fully fit out. Additionally, Essex herself in-game is able to mount 40 guns as opposed to her historical rating of 32 guns. In game terms, you’re correct in saying that the Essex is more powerful and I agree, but I disagree with saying that the two ships are in different classes. They are very much competitive against each other and depending on the skill of the captain the battle can go either way. You bring up good points and really I can just say that the videos aren’t supposed to showcase difficult battles and displays of skill, but more just relaxing and enjoyable content.
@@Capitalshipcaptains I completely agree, there is great difference in the game compared to historical reality. I'd love a video of the game where you sink an Essex using a frigate tho! Leaving first rates fight on the side I sailed my Niagara Vs 3 navy brigs in the Nassau patrol zone and that was great fun! Had to leave the loot cause I was taking too much water!
I’m thinking about buying the game, is the US Nation available on the Caribbean server or only the older ones?
As of now, the free to play server does not have the US :/ they might change it in the upcoming update but not sure!
