The Frigate and Essex meet again! This time, however, the roles have been reversed! In this video, I am using the Frigate to show that it is possible to take on a vessel of a higher BR and win! For reference, the Frigate sits at a BR of 65 while the Essex stands at a BR of 100.

Today it's the powerhouses of the small 5th rates clashing! Hercules is a DLC ship while Cerberus is a standard vessel. Both have a BR of 40 and a crew of around 250. It ended up being closer than I thought!

Today it's a quick duel between the generic frigate and the frigate Essex. I accidentally brought my fourth-rate into battle with me and promptly sent him to retreat so I believe it was still a good matchup. Both ships mount 18-pdr main guns, though the Essex has 12-pdr secondaries as opposed to the frigate's 9-pdrs.

Howdy! We're kicking off our new channel with a reupload of our very first Naval Action video from the Capital Ship Captains channel! The quality is a little less than standard for our content as it was recorded long before we knew what we were doing, but future videos will be up to par! This new channel will be dedicated to bringing historical content as opposed to the Star Wars content of CSC...
How about Japan’s San Juan Bautista vs Korean Turtle Ship? Or, HMS Warrior vs French ship Glorie?

You do realize that defeating an algorithm captained 6th rate Navy Brig with a 5th rate Pirate Frigate, especially with that very favorable positioning, is very easy, no? A very good player might be able to sink you in that match up but not the "AI". A simply good player would try run away somewhere between a reach and a beat if they could somehow escape that harbor you had them bottled up in, but that would be tough since you start out so close.
You do realize this battle wasn’t meant to be a challenge, no? It’s simply the closest thing possible to recreating a battle featuring a pair of fictional ships, not something to display skill.
@@HistoricalShipCaptains-hc6uv It is good (for you) that you realize that you publish only easy fights that you always win, but what do you think is the value (to viewers) of showing easy fights that you always win?

I also tryt fighting an implacable with my dlc vic bud i got almost enough leaks to sink my vic in the second salve of the implacable and becase if this i couldnt use my lowest gun deck and thats how i got sunk bye an implacable. Idk why im texting this

As of now, the free to play server does not have the US :/ they might change it in the upcoming update but not sure!

essex is a different class ship than a frigate, of course the essex is gonna win.
What’s your reasoning? Both are fifth-rate frigates in game and therefore in the same class. Yes, Essex has a higher shot tonnage and should be expected to win, but that isn’t the only factor in a naval duel.
@@HistoricalShipCaptains-hc6uv Essex has higher pdr guns, better armour, sails as well as a frigate. Unless the Essex captain is a Sweetwater one the Essex is gonna win 10 times out of 10. In real life there could be a fight considering the rig damage but in game it's a one way fight. Besides Essex also has more than 400 crew to the frigate 350
@@stayfrosty1758 You make valid points and I actually agree with most of them. Essex is, on paper and in the game, the more powerful ship. If we bring the real-life historical aspect into it, we can say that Essex actually never mounted it’s long 18 pounders, and was actually fitted with short range carronades for the duration of it’s service. It’s secondary armament of 12 pounders was also reduced historically. In the game we have the option to arm the vessels with their maximum potential, though in history many ships simply did not have access to the guns they needed to fully fit out. Additionally, Essex herself in-game is able to mount 40 guns as opposed to her historical rating of 32 guns. In game terms, you’re correct in saying that the Essex is more powerful and I agree, but I disagree with saying that the two ships are in different classes. They are very much competitive against each other and depending on the skill of the captain the battle can go either way. You bring up good points and really I can just say that the videos aren’t supposed to showcase difficult battles and displays of skill, but more just relaxing and enjoyable content.
@@Capitalshipcaptains I completely agree, there is great difference in the game compared to historical reality. I'd love a video of the game where you sink an Essex using a frigate tho! Leaving first rates fight on the side I sailed my Niagara Vs 3 navy brigs in the Nassau patrol zone and that was great fun! Had to leave the loot cause I was taking too much water!
