100% protective film/paper on the acrylic, and 100% on the publisher for not including a note in the box telling you to remove it.

I wonder if there's a thin layer of film over the standees? I know some anime standees look cloudy and scratched initially until you peel the film from them but it can be difficult to tell if there actually is film on them or if its the print.
Additionally on the base stands, I guess SAM is Sorcerers Apprentice Mickey.
And I know the show is called back in the box, but I'd curious about how rattlely the box is after putting stuff in and if stuff is out of place on a 2nd opening (i.e. does the plastic actually keeps cards and pieces in place).

I suspect this is the case. Basically any acrylic game piece I've ever ordered was shipped with a film that made the piece look cloudy and scratched until removed. The manufacturer/publisher ought to include something in the box to tell the consumer to remove it.
So glad to see an episode where the punch outs get punched and the box is fully tested
Just came to make sure people had already commented that the standees probably look nasty because of the protective film. Thanks for being on top of that LRR fam ;p Honestly, selling acrylic charms in artist's alley, I'm constantly afraid people will make this mistake no matter how many FYIs I print on the backing card...

re Root box chaos: I have discovered 3rd party custom inserts from "Folded Space".
They make foam inserts for a variety of board games and they have one for Root which allows you to store the game and all its expansion in two boxes.
It comes with a card holder and separate trays for each faction that you can take out of the box and use during play.
They ship to Canada, but some assembly (glue) is required (TTSF?)

Do the standees have a protective film on them? I've seen that quite a bit with acrylic bits in board games.
I own this one, there is a plastic film on the standees and bases. It is a pain to remove though.

I agree with the desire for a fancy box... Even if it was cardboard, it would be nice to see something open in a non-traditional way.

Two points. First, this neatly demonstrates my point on earlier videos on how punching the tokens is an important step given the name of the show. Second, why does the 'Watch it played here:' link go to Dice Thrown Adventure? Unless I missed it you haven't played it on stream. Then again, there is also a #dicethrone at the end so copy/paste error?

My only experience with The Op/USAopoly has been the 'Smash Up: Marvel' set they published and the quality there was notably worse than the AEG published versions. The cards were not cut as cleanly and the printing was not as sharp.

I tried the phone version when it first came out and did one of my fastest uninstalls ever when Sully went in arms swinging while Boo was perched on his shoulders. I play a lot of forgettable phone games, but this one viscerally upset me.

This is the worst copy I have seen most other I have seen play this game and said everything looked great no mushed boars or scratched standees
As someone else mentioned, the 'scratched/dirty' standees are just the protective film from where the factory cut them from sheets
