    Most exciting pickup since the 2013 Ram 1500.

    GM:make it available in the base/WT/LT trims and with the manual transmission and you'll have at least one guy right here that'll happily buy this truck. I wouldn't even really care if it was 2WD only as long either if it met the above requirements. I'd love to have a new manual diesel truck that I wouldn't be scared of banging up(

      a2xd94 M/T is the thing of the past.
      Companies are looking into dumping MT lines and going all A/T and button shift A/T. People don't buy MT like they use to. Costs are too much to produce M/T's.
      Better get use to A/T and or padle shifting, cause its the way of the future.

      a2xd94 the motor costs 10,000 dollars...they cant ever make money if its in a 25k pickup so that will never happen
      the epa strongly discourages diesels in America for their carcinogenetic effects...if everyone drove diesels we would have higher cancer rates and that costs us all money

    • @turbodiesel4709
      @turbodiesel4709 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +phil tripe: The EPA in this country is a nothing but a bunch of political-driven horseshit. Americans are so far out of touch with reality when it comes to diesels and their obvious benefits. Must be the entire rest of the world has it wrong, eh? (Spoken like a typical American fool.) Your ignorance in your stating that "diesels cause cancer" is very disturbing. There is NO factual evidence of that statement - anywhere.

    • @a2xd94
      @a2xd94 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +phil tripe pardon my language, but I can't resist-that's the biggest horseshit I've ever heard. What diesels are known for is soot. Soot is solid particulate matter. It falls to the ground before it can be breathed in. The worst it can do is smoke your bumper. The rest of the world relies greatly on diesel cars, I'd venture to say that about 60-70% of cars in Europe are diesels. And the rates of cancer there, from my experience, are much lower than America. Please educate yourself before spewing BS like this...
      As far as making the truck cheap...if the base 2.5L costs about say $4000...take that out, give me a complete base truck with NO extras...$20,000+$6,000=$26,000. Not bad for a nice, reliable, economical compact truck, I'd buy it. Also, the 2.8 Duramax is not that expensive of an engine. It is very popular in Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia so price is low. I'd say it has about a $3,500 premium on the gas motor at most.

    Funny how people are so negative about Diesels here...LOL I wish Volvo would bring the diesel they put in their cars to the US and let me get 60mpg. It's long overdue in small trucks. I would say most people (aka my neighbors) with trucks do not use their full size diesel now to tow anything. It's more a statues symbol. where as I want a truck, probably will never own an RV (I rather stay in Hotels and I can stay in a lot of Hotels for what a RV cost) and all I need to haul is a couple motorcycles and a light trailer. This truck sounds like it would work for me and get awesome fuel economy. diesel is not that much more, if I can get 30mpg versus 18mpg then that works for me.

    I have been driving diesels cars in Europe and America for about 8 years now because I LIKE DIESEL. And the volkwagan brand has been KING in both countries, especially with it's optional manuel drive. So now I had the extreme luck to drive the Volkwagon diesel truck with maneul trans in Central America, AND I LOVE IT. So, until America comes out with a quality lifestyle vehicle for it's people... I'm a Volkwagon Man.

      Dane Johnson why do they use gussied up Isuzu trucks ?

    • @Meekerextreme
      @Meekerextreme 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dane Johnson everyone I know that has a VW int he USA has issues with it. But you are right they do at least offer a Diesel option. I wish Volvo would bring their Diesel to the States and I could then enjoy 60mpg.

    • @danejohnson6124
      @danejohnson6124 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had three VWs and during my 5 years with them... at present... I have no problems. Even with the non diesel GTI. And yes the mileage savings are great with diesel! To be fair to other companies, many automobile companies have diesel manuals. But the government-business in this country has their reasons for not stepping up for their citizens to the midsized pickup truck range. The Amarok twin turbo VW diesel maybe a serious problem for the American auto companies.

    For those of you crying that it will only be available on expensive trim levels, in the past GM has said that the diesel will be an available option across ALL trim levels!
    How much will that option cost is up in the air though

  • @troylevalley3252
    @troylevalley3252 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    This has been a long overdue offering for anyone that drives mostly highway miles but may haul moderate loads or need to tow less than 8000 lbs. I've had the 2.8 ltr vm motori diesel in a Jeep and routinely got over 30 mpg and currently drive a TDI Sportwagen getting over 45 on the hwy at brisk speeds. The addition of 4wd in a small American Made diesel P/U that can be optioned up may work well for salesmen in any snow prone area. It may be my next work vehicle.

    • @holybuba
      @holybuba 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ultimatemxcn I am thinking this truck to be in the 30-35k price range . I live in the mountainous region were diesel gets much better mpg then gas in most place 2 to 3 times better. so if the same truck in gas gets 16 mpg and diesel gets me in the high 20s then the extra cost will pay for it's self soon.

    I have spoken to people I've met with the 6 cylinder four door. I hear the same from all of them, very comfortable ride, great handling but less than 60% of the promised mileage and extremely expensive. I'll skip the diesel chevy and buy the 2016 Toyota Tacoma thanks.

      Scott Goodwin I got my 2015 canyon on Valente's Day. It has the 6 cyl and is the All Terrain pkg. My mileage is excellent. A Canadian gallon is 4.55 litres compared the U.S gallon of 3.8 and I'm getting an honest 31. The trailering with this truck compared to the last model is not even close. I find myself looking in the rearview to make sure the trailer is still there. Could have got an F-150 through father in law but research turned me against them. F-150 fans are almost cult -like and a co-worker recently said "Ford could put out junk 150's and the fans would still think it's the best truck out there." I agree with him.

    If you guys can make 'em affordable AND fuel efficient, then for a daily driver / runabout - I'm in! Of course it all eventually comes down to it's sticker price.... My understanding is that these Colorado diesels are wicked expensive. Look man, if you want me to pay as much for a diesel small truck as I do a full-size one, I'm buying full-sized every time. Anyone with any common-sense knows that it's always better to have "too much truck" than not enough. BTW, in my many years of experience, a truck isn't a real TRUCK until it is a 3/4 ton or heavier anyhow. I've owned 'em all (small, medium, and big), and I'll never buy a smaller truck than a "2500" series for doing and real work again.

    40 miles a gallon is not even close to its competitor in asia. They are doing more than 60 Miles a gallon. Nissan Frontier (Navara) is doing 70+ Ford Ranger at 3.2L Diesel is almost the same. Mazda and Toyota pick up is doing a little more than 70 miles a gallon.

    I really hate the soft/weak styling of the truck, a side-effect of trying to market to wealthy urbanites. Another being the infotainment systems and in-car WiFi (who needs that?!), which I'm SURE has nothing to do with this being the most expensive small truck to date. I want a small, cheap, 4x4, not some mall-crawler with it's balls lopped off. This new duramax will probably only get real use in work trucks, since most of these trucks will never see dirt, let alone a trailer.

      This basic engine is the one everyone else uses. Its been in America for over 10 years. It came before the 3.0, and its better suited for a light truck. No one has had the bright idea to promote diesel before so you haven't heard about it. Its a solid engine. Originally the brand new emissions attachments weren't well thought out but they have been updated and hopefully upgraded since.

    • @turbodiesel4709

      The unrefined and unreliable emissions garbage that automotive and engine manufacturers use is (and has been for several years now) strangling the success of diesel engines in the USA. It's pathetic that they don't spend enough time and money on R&D to get it right BEFORE they release said product to the public for consumption. Instead, we are just their guinea pigs.

    Man, trucks are getting so damn politically correct with the MPGs & whatnot, soon they won't be trucks anymore. I'm glad Ford is dropping the 500HP/500TQ hammer with the 2nd gen Ecoboost. Who gives a sh*t if it only gets 20MPG (actually that's pretty good considering the numbers)... You buy a truck cause it's strong - not cause it's fuel efficient.
    If you'll go so far as to buy a neutered truck just to get 30MPG, well then why not just buy a car that gets even better MPGs and put a hitch on it...
    I pulled around a 5X8 trailer for years with my '09 Focus and got damn near 40 MPGs when I wasn't.

      Ppl thrive off of getting cars that are good on fuel, apparently you don't mind filling up every week or so with gas prices 3 or even 4 a gallon. Ppl want a truck that's good on fuel, why do you think truck buyers lean towards Eco boost fuel nowadays.

      Daniel Heller Welcome to the average buyer. They want savings. MPG is their focus. No one wants a 8 MPG Eddy Bower Branco anymore. They want a honda Fit, with 4x4 and bluetooth to make facebook updates.

      Daniel Heller Because most people don't use trucks to haul anything. Want to ask 10 neighbors on my street all with trucks? Mall crawlers is all they are. I don't need a F250 6.7L, would love one but for $70K F that, although I do plan to keep one for 30 years if I did buy one.....It's a toss up, most likely all I need is a small diesel truck that has 4WD, and gets 30mpg+ and a Crew Cab would be awesome to haul my motorcycle around. I prefer Hotels then an RV, you know how many Hotels I can stay at for the cost of even a cheap $13,000 RV that I have to insure and take care of and plate/tag. $500 a year on Hotels comes to 26 years for me. Do people really camp that much? And is staying in an RV really "camping" I prefer a tent if I call myself "camping". So yeah a mid-size truck would and does work for most people. Also most people unlike me commute to work and use their "Truck" for daily commuter, I would not.
      As for cars pulling Trailers, Yep I pulled around my Kendon Motorcycle Trailer with my Focus ST. Worked just fine...it's why I am in a toss up large truck, or gut get a Fusion AWD and tow with it like I used too and enjoy good fuel economy...however a small diesel truck would entice me to go there because I hate hauling a trailer around and rather load it up and drive away. Also having high clearance and 4WD is nice.
      Tell you the truth I am thinking of a Volvo S60 T5 AWD, wife has a 2013 and we love it, I put a 2" Hitch on her car but we only ever used it for a carrier basket. (I have TH-cam Videos on it). But hell the best I got was 34mpg going 55mph through Kansas, typically it's 30mpg. used these vehicles are CHEAP, and i prefer luxury. I git to say I'm the salesman's worst customer as I don't fall in love with vehicles and I take my sweet time buying.

      +Meeker Extreme: Agreed that driving a truck every day as a commuter vehicle is expensive, wasteful, and well... stupid. However, most people (not all) do it because they WANT a truck, and don't NEED a truck. (The reasons really don't matter.) Since they can't afford both a car and a truck, they buy the truck and it's their daily driver.
      In my case, I do use my truck for working, but not all the time. I have a daily driver car that gets good MPG's and I have a truck for working, towing, hauling, and playing. It took many years to get to that point to where I could justify having both vehicles. What "pushed" me into having 2 vehicles was the fact that fuel prices sky-rocketed so much, and so quickly (many years ago now) that I could justify saving money by not driving my truck everyday, and buying a much more fuel efficient car.
      It's a pain in the ass at times, not always having the truck at my disposal, but you do what you gotta do to make ends meet.
      One last note... Who the hell is buying new cars and trucks? Crazy people, and businesses, that's who. My newest vehicle is 10 years old.

      +CC S What's lame is the V4 comment. It's a I4 like just about every 4 cylinder in existence.

    This is such an ugly truck, from the front it looks like an suv and there's nothing going on in the back. Poorly made truck, this is the epitome of why Ford will always be the leader in the truck market.
