It's because the song is dubbed with anotherone with similar lyrics. The version of Netflix, or better said, the DVD version is changed in purpose, so that the producers don't have to pay lot of money for the song. Instead, they decided to look for another song which can goes with the movement of Tony's lips.
That's why I can't watch this show on Netflix, it's just not the same. I guess it has to do with royalties and contracts running out. 'Guess they didn't know what a success this show would turn out to be!😍
Considering the US freaked over the explicit sexuality of Skins, I have no idea why the US version changed the song from 'sweet with evil undertones' to 'SEX, BEES, AND LET'S FUCK'. The UK version was so beautifully performed, I'm honestly ashamed for my country for butchering it.
Because the nuances of being a teenager are lost on TV studios. America is too busy telling teenagers what they should be like, whereas I feel like E4 lets teenagers tell us what being a teenager is like.
I seriously flipped out when they tried to copy this scene in the US version, the US Tony sucks so much and they tried to pick a sexier song completely missing the point that UK Tony could sing a totally dopey and sweet song and still make it kind of evil.
@underwhere1992 Unfortunatly a lot of the music in the show had to be replaced for the DVDs and international broadcast because it was too expensive. This is the original version. The only way to see the show as it was meant to be seen is on bootlegs recorded from UK television. It's too bad, the way they used music was just incredible.
@flippadeal I was just watching the films, and he usually plays a soldier. I couldn't find a clip, but he appears in Avatar when Sam Worthington first lands on Pandora. And in the intro scene on the Chinook in Battle LA.
I am very familiar with the words to this song, and has anyone noticed how he manages to get the words a bit muddled, despite appearing to be reading from sheet music? He sings "Are there lilac trees in THIS PART of town" instead of "Are there lilac trees in THE HEART of town, Can you hear a lark in any other part of town?", and a little later sings "And oh, the POWERING feeling" instead of "And oh, the TOWERING feeling". Perhaps he was meant to be a little nervous, and so sang the wrong words!
@@Doddz321 Yes - but the lyrics of the song do not change, just because it's being sung by a different person - & this guy gets the words wrong. He clearly had not prepared for this very well at all, & did not know the correct words to the song. The music & words are determined by the people who wrote the song & are "fixed" & quite easy to find out. But this guy just seems to be making up all of his own words as he goes along. Certainly not very impressive at all.
@@louwinters508 It does not really matter whether he sang the song himself, or whether it's dubbed - the fact is that the words are incorrect - so whoever made the above film/series clearly was unfamiliar with the words & did not bother to look them up to ensure they used the correct words. And the actor himself did not both to do that either - as actors will often research their roles themselves.
@@janburn007 Why would the actor need to look up the song. He'd be given the lines to learn in the script. It's not his job to notice if the words are slightly wrong. Why would he even question it. Only someone obsessed with musical theatre or a massive fan of my fair lady would even nottice. I hadn't even heard the song before I saw Skins. Why make a big deal out of it.
I love this whole scene so much, but what I always found so funny, was Tony’s nodding face at 00:31, after her sees all of the girls fawning over him. That face is like, “Oh, yeah! That’s right! I’m the fuckin’ man!” Such a S1 Tony thing to do.
yeah i have the dvd, i was well devistated haha, its stupid that theyve changed the song on the dvd. but if you watch his lips, theyve just put a song over the top, his lips dont move in time on the dvd at some points
@@ツツ-o7rI would assume they mean they are fascinated with how Tony is a narcissistic jerk who cares only for himself, but he easily gets people to fall for his good looks and charm with just a simple glance.

Perhaps you're right - though the incorrect words don't make as much sense as the correct words, and are a little repetitious. Jeremy Brett can be seen singing the original lyrics from the film "My Fair Lady" in another video clip on TH-cam.

That and Tony was able to charm adults. Singing a dirty song would not have done that. Especially in an all girls college choir.
I wonder why when I looked for this, that's its longer and his voice is deeper but on Netflix its shorter and his voice is pitched higher ...
I love him so much(w british Accent)

anyone has the sheet music of the piano part? or can tell me where I can find it?
