The case this watch has is my favorite Rolex case to date. I love it way more than the traditional oyster case.

Would you trade a 09 Sub for this style of Yachtmaster? I am wondering if I should trade in my Sub or if I would regret it. I love the dial and the bracelet on this piece. I feel like the sub slides under the radar where this piece is a eye catcher. That could be good or bad depending on the situation.

This piece is for more sophisticated Rolex customers who like the functions of submariners but desire more exclusivity for more upscale environments. This watch also works well if you are a one-watch person.

It's entielymammatter of preference IMO. Subs and to a lesser extent DJs are a dime a dozen and in my experience no one has ever batted an eye at the fancy sub aka the YM, and if they ever did notice it it was because they noticed I was wearing a watch, any watch, that wasn't an apple watch. So I would say that the YM stays under the radar as much as any steel watch does, and you could say the larger, more obvious, presence of the maxi cased sub is more noticeable than a 40mm YM.

@@Milgauss1349 The Platinum Dial YM first came out in the 1990s and it was hot for a while, which people forget, but these YMs suffered due to the flimsy clasp and hollow links Rolex was using back then. Mine is a 2007 and it has the solid links and the first big lums which were an upgrade at the time. All the steel sports Rolex are actually a dime a dozen once you have got one! That is the epiphany young men have at parties. Rolexes are conversation pieces for conversations with other men, not the ladies. It is strange how the popularity level of the various models severely impacts what people say about them. But opinions are fickle, look at the Smurf, for example, 5 years ago you could go find a used one for $22,000, and you can no longer do that! Each time Rolex comes out with a new model, the herd starts thinking the previous models are toast, but actually this is not true! I suggest don't sell them. Like any car, any Rolex will become yesterday's news after five years or so when newer models come out.

While I can see myself coming back to the YM this one was traded to a fantastic CWC member for an awesome Omega 🇨🇦
